Hitch is solid and install was 2 hours

A year later ! The ball and ball holder bar were backed into on the driveway by the landlord,,,,,after a simple inspection all was in good order except the landlord’s car ,,,,,

3.5 stars. Product looks like it should perform as advertised, but it arrived with several chips in the paint. This is most likely due to improper surface preparation and cleaning before the powder coat was applied. As you can see in the photos, there is already some surface rust on some of the areas, including the hole for the hitch pin. Ultimately the paint will get scratched up from use, but it would be nice to see some extra attention to detail from the factory.

I was in need of a hitch higher than the standard 3 or 4 inch riser and spoke with Samatha B, after a couple of emails she found a 5 inch riser for my 1 1/4" receiver. Just what I needed and a happy customer. Received very quick and good sturdy quality. Thanks again!

Always a joy to do business with these folks at etrailer

Here's 2 photos of the finished product. Doesn't stick out very far which is fantastic, because it definitely would have looked bad on the back of a 2 door coupe GTP. As for installation, being a mechanic, all I had to do was remove 2 rear exhaust rubber hangers and the one right behind the fuel tank, lower the exhaust onto a set of jacks to support the weight. Then drilled 2 1/2" holes with a 90 degree drill. The coiled wires included with the parts saved me tons of time trying to get the bolts in. Overall, it was fairly simple to install. Torquing the bolts proved a little difficult. I would recommend you inform the customers that they'll need at least a 10" eye to eye reciever (I have the 11" one on mine) in order to clear the rear bumper and provide some space between the bumper and trailer tongue. As for the wiring, I cut a small slit in the rubber plug under the spare tire, ran some bulk trailer wiring up through it, under the tire, under the floor matting, to the right side of the trunk, behind the tail light. And up under the lid on the right side, is the tail light wire harness/connector. Test light confirmed which wires were hot, tapped into them and all the wires and lights are good to go. Just some extra info for the DIY'er that might be handy on the website so they won't have to search for it! Couldn't be happier with the hitch.

Vehicle: 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring (5-door hatchback).
Hitch: C11471 Wiring kit: Tekonsha 118473
Drawbar: C45015 Ball: C40018

See my previous review on the hitch. The wiring kit took longer than expected to install but went generally well.
The eTrailer instructions are good but miss what I consider to be a critical dimension. Note the picture with the ruler; the length of the drawbar must clear the rear bumper of the vehicle. The missing dimension is the distance from the center of the ball mounting hole to the rear of what I call the ball shelf. I now know that for my drawbar, this is about 3.5 inches; however, I did not know that when I ordered the drawbar and consequently ordered a longer drawbar than was required. I went by the distance from hitch pin to ball mount but had to guess whether it would clear my bumper which I knew needed at least six inches from the hitch pin center. No harm done but it would have been useful to know the distance from the ball hole center to the rear of the shelf.
My only problem is to get the torque on the ball nut to 160 lb-ft. My torque wrench does not go that high. I'll figure out something. Everything else is great!

I just bought a Land Rover LSII. I pull a travel trailer so I had the dealer install a hitch. I discovered that the hitch was very low and under the bumper. I could not find a drawbar that would stick out far enough and go high enough to allow me to hook up my trailer. Until I found your drawbar (C45015). As you can see by the pictures, it's perfect. Thank you.

Solid piece of equipment at a great pri ce

This is a heavy duty full on class II hitch and it has the weight of quality. eTrailer shipped my order with professional speed.

Attached is a photo of it on my 2004 Honda Accord in its class I receiver noting that I have not yet fully bolted the hitch ball in this photo.

Works on a class 1 hitch. The computer flags it as a mismatch. The person on the phone was very helpful.

@Jason How is it 'flagged as a mismatch'?

by:

A perfect solution. I bought a car with a much lower hitch mount placement.

by:

Here's the install on my 1995 E320 Mercedes Wagon. Thanks for double-checking and following-up on my order so efficiently. It was a good thing to get the long ball mount for a bit of extra clearance from the bumper.

by:

Height worked out perfect. My trailer level. Does good job.

I looked locally for a drawbar that would fit my 2001 Ford Taurus but couldn't find what I needed. Came to e-trailers where I've bought before and found this. They had a very wide selection. Perfect fit, great price, fast delivery. I would highly recommend this product and company.

It is exactly what I was looking for, thanks to etrailer, only which I would of did it 5 years ago,but didn't know they made them 1.25 inches. Thanks again Greg

by:

Love it, just be sure when attaching a ball, when parking un pin and store. Someone stole my pin, fortunately not the drawbar

Nice product and easy to install the "Draw-tite Max-frame Trailer Hitch Receiver" with T-One wiring harness for Factory Tow Package- 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector...

by:

It works... the finish is horrible. Nicks and spots with no paint everywhere. If I didn't need it so soon I would return it! It wouldn't be as big a deal if it was a rust proof metal, but it's not.

by:

The Curt Class II Drawbar with a 5" rise very nicely solved my problem when hooking up my two trailers to my Rave 4. The trailer jack was as low as it could go when it rested on the ball in my of setup. Now I have plenty of jack room to hook up and unhook. Thanks for your excellent product and service.

I still love your trailer hitch one year later! I know its very good because I dont think about it, its just there working for me whenever needed. Thanks.

by:

unit worked perfectly, I got the extended elevated ball mount for the receiver and worked perfect. after a while I found that I needed to back out of steep driveways slower so the receiver did not hit the ground. one thing that helped was replacing my original rear struts with an upgrade set. I needed to after 200,000 miles anyway. The wiring kit with your videos was easy and great.

Really good, useful and functional, pulled a few trailers hauling mulch and such.

by:

The hitch on my Sienna is mounted low and recessed under the bumper so this ball mount has been perfect for the right height and reach for my boat trailer to ride level. etrailer is the only place I found what I needed. Actually I always look there first because they have such a good selection.

John S.

7/19/2018

This ball mount is no longer needed for my boat since I now have a truck with a 2” ball mount but I still use it for my lawn mower trailer when needed behind my van. I can keep a 1 7/8” ball mounted on it. It is a solid piece of equipment.

by:

Perfect fit.

quality and fair pricing was what I was expecting and received. Very pleased with products from etrailer

Been a fan of Etrailer for a while now. They always have that extra clip/bolt/harness that other box stores just don’t get right. Found the price reasonable and the shipping speed FAST. Box was toast but who cares it’s a heavy piece of metal I’m going to paint match anyways. Thanks!

  • Ball Mount Recommendation to Clear the Back of a 2007 Chevy HHR
If you were to use ball mount # C45014 on your 2007 Chevy HHR it would be very tight so I do recommend going with the longer # C45015. If you have or are looking at hitch # C11447 then the ball mount that Curt recommends is # C45520 which is about the same length as C45015 so it would also have enough length. For either ball mount if the trailer takes a 2 inch ball use # C40018. And if it takes a 1-7/8 inch ball use # C40001. And if you don't already have a trailer wiring harness you can...

  • Trailer Hitch Ball Recommendation for Curt Ball Mounts C45015 and C45014
For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball to use with the # C45015 or the # C45014 you would want the part # A-80. For a 2 inch hitch ball you would want the part # A-82. Both of these have a 3/4 inch diameter shank that is 2-1/8 inch long.

  • How to Find Rise/Drop of Ball Mount Needed for Towing Small Aluminum Boat with 2007 Acura TL
When we installed the Draw-Tite # 24755 Class I hitch on a 2007 Acura TL, we found that the inside top edge of the receiver tube sat 10-1/2 inches above the pavement. To determine which ball mount would place your trailer as close to level as possible, you'll need to put the boat trailer up on it's jack so it's level, then measure from the bottom edge of the coupler to the ground. The height difference between 10-1/2 inches and the level trailer coupler height equals the amount of rise/drop...

  • Ball Mount Compatibility with Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2010 Ford Mustang
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11048 is compatible with the Curt Class II Drawbar - 5" Rise - 11-5/8" Long - 3,500 lbs # C45015 you referenced. You will also need a hitch ball like # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter or # A-82 for a 2 inch diameter. For trailer wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118487. This will connect behind your tail lights and then draw power directly from your battery....

  • Curt Ball Mount for 1-1/4 inch Hitch with More Rise and Length than C45520
The two Curt ball mounts you mentioned of part # C45014 and # C45015 are both options that would give you additional rise with the # C45015 being a few inches longer as well than compared to the # C45520 that you have now. Now these options only can be used on Class II hitches whereas the # C45520 can fit Class I or Class II so you'd need to verify that with the hitch of your vehicle. The reason for this is that the Class I hitches are lower in capacity so they can be only used with the...

The hitch on your vehicle is 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outer most part of your fascia and 9-3/4 from the ground to the top inner most part of the receiver tube.
