Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop - 13" Long - 7,500 lbs - C45270

Average Customer Rating:  4.8 out of 5 stars   (1998 Customer Reviews)

Corrosion-resistant ball mount is 13" long and fits 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers.

Haven't used it yet. I bought it because of CURT's quality. It was beat up in shipping though.

Its doing the JOB.

This 13" drawbar keeps the tailgate off the trailer jack.
Being that long also keeps it I storage immediately after I disconnect the trailer.
No need for a locking pin.

These are perfect for newer trucks with taller tailgates

Exactly what I needed to extend the reach of the ball beyond my rear tire carrier WITHOUT losing any tongue weight capacity! I used mine for the 2" rise.

Not usually a fan of any extra length between the truck and trailer, I opted for this extended ball mount so I could drop the tailgate without hitting the trailer jack. This did the trick. But this not a mount you should leave on your truck after detaching the trailer! Ouch!

Exactly what I needed to move trailer away from spare tire

It's perfect for my Jeep Wrangler it gets the ball past the spare tire.

Measured the drop to keep the trailer horizontal, and length for tailgate clearance. This hitch works great!

The ball mount is not welded square to the tube
This is the second one sent took 4 months to get a refund on the first one.
The first one lasted one long trip before bending
Quality control is lacking on this product line.

Each item was as described and installation a snap. Light are at least twice as bright as originals. The right-angle wiring pigtail made the project much easier.

Really appreciate the extensive information on each product and the follow up is a nice touch.

Great product and excellent service with on time delivery!

Great product, they were very quick filling my order. Everyone kept me informed how the order was processing and the delivery date.

Product is per specs. Attached is why I needed and how it helped me attach the mud flaps and still be able to plug in my 7 pin. I was really happy that I didn’t have to pay two day shipping, and it still arrived in that amount of time just like it said it would.

For a 7,500 lb hitch, I was surprised it didn’t have a wedge support welded on where the flat iron is welded to the square tube.

Quality mount. I needed a longer mount for my golf cart and this will work great.

I have traveled across the US towing an overloaded Uhaul 12' trailer.
The trailer was still behind me when I arrived, so the hitch functioned as promised.
I did not, however, require the extra long hitch as suggested for my particular vehicle, but it will serve as an extra. Unnecessary purchase.

My son has since purchased a hitch from etrailer for his new Ford Edge.
We're both happy - very robust and well engineered product(s)

Excellent. Now mostly serves as an intimidation factor for those who would tailgate me...

I got everything on time and it’s working good and also high quality

Product is exactly what was expected. But what is really 5-Star is this company's actions after the order is submitted. The website allows the customer to follow the timeline of the item from the order being placed to being pulled to being shipped to having a tracking number.... and in an extremely quick manner! Will shop here again.

I needed a hitch with a long shank because of my spare tire being mounted on the back of my Jeep. This one does the trick!

Works as intended. Very pleased.

Works great on my lifted jeep, with a s pare!

The etrailer Curt Hidden Hitch was almost $200 less expensive than the suburu dealer, without installation. Thank you etrailer your suburu install video was fantastic. Very apprehensive about removing the entire rear bumper panel on my new outback; but had my laptop open in the back of the suv,and installed like clockwork. Hidden hitch has no unsightly drop bars hanging
Below the bumper. Unbelievable price, looks and
Tows great, and saved well over $350 installing
Myself. Suby looks great, and friends are amazed I
would tackle this job myself...This is my 2nd hitch
from etrailer, and I like the efficiency, and detail of your website. HATS OFF to you etrailer. Satisfied customer...

Works exactly as expected! My Subaru Outback bumper did not allow for a "normal" length drawbar, so this longer one was the only way I could tow anything.

Still works great a year later!

Excellent product and service.
this long heavy duty ball mount so I can open my tail gate with a trailer still hitched up.
All the online measurements and information made it much easier to choose the correct mount.
Works great!

Great product! I’ve had mine for about a year and I use it to pull my 3800 lb bass boat all over Michigan. I actually had to buy this extended hitch, because all the gm products have the hitches tucked further under the bumper. Which when I use my mudflaps that hook onto the hitch, they would always hit the bumper. Great product.

Excellent service from etrailer! Required an extended hitch so I could open the truck tailgate with the trailer attached and has done the job it was purchased for. The finish looks as new as it did when I bought it a year ago.

  • Ball Mount With 2 Inch Rise for 2 Inch Trailer Hitch and Warranty of 4-Way Bracket
You are absolutely right that you need a ball mount with a 2 inch rise since your coupler is 2 inches above the top of your hitch receiver. The Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 is a great option that fits in a 2" hitch and you can use either Pin and Clip # C21500 or Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 to secure it to your hitch. For a hitch ball, depending on your trailer's coupler you will need 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40017 or 2" Hitch Ball # 40038. In regards to Mounting Bracket # 18144...

  • Trailer Hitch Extended Ball Mount For F-250 Towing Lance Camper With 24-Inch Overhang
The problem with using an extension on a trailer hitch is that adapters will reduce the towing and tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. You can find ball mounts that are extended and do not reduce the capacity. We do offer extended ball mounts like part # C45270 that I recommend, and may work for you. This ball mount has a 2-inch rise or a 4-inch drop and measures 13-inches center of hitch pin hole to center of hitch ball hole. This ball mount has a 7,500-lb capacity....

  • Recommended Trailer Jack To Clear Tailgate With A-Frame Trailer
I do have an option for you but the tongue jack only needs to be rated for the tongue weight of your trailer which will only be around 10-15% of its loaded weight. Therefore, you are likely only going to need around a 700-1,000 lb weight capacity. The higher rated you go, the better off you will be but an 8,000 lb option would be far too much. In order to clear your tailgate while the trailer is attached you are likely going to need a side mount, swivel option. I recommend the Bulldog Round...

  • What Hitch Receiver Will Fit On My 2011 Crown Vic
I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13707. It takes about 50 minutes to install, you won't need to drill holes in the frame. If you have dual exhaust you will need to relocate the exhaust pipe hanger to provide adequate clearance for the pipe. Next you will need wiring, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C59236. This gives you the connection point to plug the 4-way from a trailer to your...

The dual tube TorkLift extenders that you mentioned do offer a longer extension but they are designed specifically for dual receiver trailer hitches from TorkLift like # TLC1204. Unfortunately there is not one currently available for your 2016 Ram 2500 so your only option will be with a standard single tube extender. The longest standard extender we have available is an 18 inch long unit like the Curt # C45796. This inserts into a 2 inch receiver like what you already have on your truck...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch And Wiring For 2011 Honda Odyssey
That's a very good question. With a hitch being installed on a vehicle and the receiver tube sitting below the rear bumper, entering a driveway can cause the bike racks or what ever is attached to the hitch to scrape. Although there are no guarantees, there may be ways to help prevent some of that. Many things can cause scraping when attaching items to the hitch, like degree of incline, hitch height from the ground, height of trailer from the ground, etc. The trailer hitch I recommend...

  • Recommended Ball Mount for 2 Inch Receiver with 750lb TW and 7,500lb GTW with 2 Inch Rise
The closest ball mount to your specifications that is offered is just longer than the 9 inch length you were looking for. The Curt Class III # C45270 is 13 inches long and offers a 2 inch rise, a 750 and 7,500lbs rating, will fit 2 inch receivers and has a ball hole diameter of 1 inch. I have linked the product to this page for your viewing and purchasing convenience.

  • Long Ball Mount Recommendation that Provides 3.5 inches Of Drop for Towing Casita Trailer
Your number one priority with picking out a ball mount needs to be going with one that allows the trailer to tow as level as possible. Since your trailer requires a 3.5 inch drop to tow level your best option is a longer ball mount that has a drop figured closer to what you need than the two options you mentioned. The best option for that is the Curt ball mount part # C45270 which provides 4 inches of drop and is 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball...

  • Will the Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier Prevent the Rear Hatch From Opening
The Stromberg Carlson Trailer Tray Cargo Carrier part # CC-255 should not interfere with opening the rear hatch but then again this is not really possible for us to test on every trailer/vehicle combo. • Extra Long Ball Mount with Rise and Drop
I do have a solution for you, but we no longer carry the Hidden Hitch ball mount 80233 and it isn't available from the manufacturer anymore. It was 16 inches long and had a rise of 2-3/4 inches and drop of 4 inches. As well as a 6,000 pound towing capacity. A ball mount we currently have with similar specs is the Curt # C45270. It has 2 inches of rise and 4 inches of drop with a max capacity of 7,500 pounds. It is however 3 inches shorter at 13 inches.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis W/ Dual Exhaust
The Class III rating on a trailer hitch receiver means it has a 2" receiver and has a higher tongue weight and trailer weight rating than a Class I or II hitch. • How to Gain Turning Clearance between a Truck and Bumper Pull Trailer
The problem that you will run into when using a hitch extender is the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50 percent. Based on the weight of your trailer and the fact that you are adding a water tank to the tongue of the trailer, I would guess that your current trailer hitch might not have the weight capacity to handle the trailer tongue weight if the capacity was reduced by 50 percent. • Longer Ball Mount for 2019 GMC Acadia so Liftgate Clears Trailer

There are some longer fixed mounts available, the Curt # C45270 is 13 inches long which would provide 4 to 5 more inches than what you likely have now. • Recommendation for Adding Clearance Between RV and Trailer
Using a hitch extender like the Tow Ready # HE18 referenced in your question is a great option for giving you some additional clearance between your RV and trailer. • Best Solution For a Truck Tailgate To Clear The Electric Tongue Jack On a A-Frame Trailer
I am not aware of any electric trailer jacks that you can rotate just the head of the jack 90 degrees. I have seen the jacks rotated the 120 degrees to line up with the bolt holes that the jack uses to mount to the trailer. This may make your jack more difficult to operate depending on what side of the trailer you are on and if it has a light it will not likely shine on the coupler to help you see at night. • Option for Adding Length Between Tow Vehicle and Trailer
You didn't say how much more length you'd need to let your tailgate open but we have the Curt Class III Drawbar # C45270 which is 13 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole to center of the pin hole. This is most likely longer than what you have. The problem with hitch extenders is that they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by quite a bit and most wouldn't have the capacity needed for a travel trailer your size.
