Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the CURT heavy-duty forged ball mount for 2 1/2 inch hitches with the 2 5/16 ball, a six inch drop, and a 4 1/2 inch rise. Now, this is a extremely heavy-duty ball mount. And what's really nice about this is the 2 5/16 ball comes installed, which doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize you need to torque these down. So, having that torque wrench that goes up to those settings and a socket that's large enough can be kind of tricky and you may require getting tools.

So, having it preinstalled saves you that effort. Going along with that heavy-duty theme, this is rated at 20,000 pounds and that includes the ball as well. Now, that's gonna tow quite a bit. And you're also gonna have a 2,000 pound tongue weight, so that pressure pushing down on it. But before you hook up to your trailers, make sure that your hitch and the vehicle are actually capable of towing that weight.

It is solid, forged steel. And the ball is also steel as well with a nice chrome finish. Now, the actual ball mount has a carbide black powder coat finish. So, that's gonna be really nice holding up to that salt or road grime over time, keeping this looking nice for a long time. Now, if you do wanna use this in the rise position, you are gonna actually have to change out the orientation of the ball, and that's gonna require you to actually retorque it down, so that's something to keep in mind.

And also, if you ever wanted to actually swap out the ball for a different size so you get a different trailer, you can actually pick up another ball size. Just make sure it's an inch and a quarter diameter and that way, it works with the ball mount. Now, something to note, the pin and clip is not included with the ball mount. So, I suggest picking one up if you don't have one handy. And we actually have a wide variety here at etrailer, including locking ones.

And that way, you can lock this and this isn't gonna walk off in the hands of someone else. Now, when you are ready to use it, you can go ahead and lower your trailer down onto it.
