Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Curt Alumalite Aluminum Adjustable 2-Ball Mount

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this CURT AlumaLite aluminum adjustable two ball mount with the 9-1/2 half inch drop for a two inch hitch, has a 10,000 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity. Now, this is a lightweight build aluminum ball mount. If you notice, has this dual ball platform that'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank portion right here is what'll slide into your two inch hitch receiver and it is secured with included 5/8 inch diameter steel pin and clip. The ball up front is what'll provide the connection point for your trailer coupler.

And if you notice, it has a dual ball mount, so it has two different sized polished steel hitch balls so it'll let you tow trailers with different coupler sizes. Basically, you have either the choice of a 2-5/16 diameter ball, or if you flip it over a two inch diameter ball. And to switch the ball, it's pretty easy. You just simply move the pin and the clip right here, take it out, put the ball in what size you need and then put it at what height you need. What's nice is that adjustable height on this will let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle.

This will provide a maximum drop of 9-1/2 inches, which is if you put it in the very furthest hole down here, and it is easily adjustable in increments of one inch. That's the distance between each hole here. Now, this is to be used in the drop position only. It's not to be used in the rise position. So basically what you'll do is just slide the ball platform up or down the shank and then secure it in place with the included pin and vibration resistant clip.

And just to show you the clips and the pins are very nice 'cause they have that nice neural knob on one end, clip on the other end, very high quality steel pin. You just slide them through and then clip it right into place just like that. Same on this one. Now, the pins are two different lengths, so you use the longer pin down here and the shorter pin up here. This is a lightweight build aluminum construction, so it is corrosion resistant.

The pins we mentioned are steel. Now, if you do wanna secure it more, you can use the hitch lock. We do sell hitch locks separately on our website. There is two that CURT makes especially for this. There's a part number C23556, which will include a pin, a lock for here and here. Or you can get a part number C23025, which would just be a pin for your hitch itself. A few specs on this, if it's two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers, to go over some specs on this, the gross towing weight and tongue weight capacity will depend on the ball size you use. So if you use the larger 2-5/16 diameter ball, it'll get you a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity, which will be stamped on the top of the ball and a tongue weight of 1,000 pounds. If you flip it over and use the smaller two inch ball, it'll be stamped with 8,000 pound gross weight capacity and an 800 pound tongue weight capacity. Last thing is the distance. There's two hitch pin holes, one's further away, one's closer. The distance of these hitch pin holes from the center of it to the center of the ball, on the closest one is gonna be 7-3/4 inches. The furthest one away is 9 inches center to center. But that's gonna do it for the review on this CURT AlumaLite aluminum adjustable two ball mount with the 9-1/2 inch drop for a two inch hitch.
