surprised as part of the package sold the pin to secure the 2" ball mount was not included.

Comments
There are some ball mounts that do include the hitch pin and the ball with them, like kit # 989900
etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 7,500 lbs
$88.93
. If you were not needing a ball and wanted to get a kit with just the pin and clip included with the ball mount, we do have part # 2923
Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 8-1/2" Long - 7.5K

With good information from the website it was easy to order a Curt 2"
Trailer Hitch, the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit w/ 4-Pole Connector and Circuit Tester - 119178KIT, Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches (3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 10-1/4" Long - 7,500 lbs - D-4), Curt Pin and Clip Hitch Receiver - C21500, Rubber Tube Cover for 2" Trailer Hitch Receivers - I-728,Review, and 2" hitch ball 40038. Parts were delivered earlier than the initial estimate. Self installation (on a sloped drive way) took just under 2 hour. The fit of parts was very good, instructions and on-line video's were very helpful. My Kia did not have the wire plug in option, but the splice connections in the wire kit were easy to install. Most of the parts are hidden from view when the ball mount is not used.

I have a custom made tow guard. The ball mount I have was too short to allow me to attach the tow guard to my new truck. I searched the web and found just what I needed at etrailer.com. It's the only site I found that carried the size I needed. The product fits my needs perfectly. I can now protect my boat from rocks and other road debris when towing. Thank you etrailer.com.

by:

Be aware that etrailer's guidelines for review prevent me from explaining my rating. I could give you the good and the bad, but not if I follow the company's guidelines which are slanted to control what potential customers can learn about the company's service.

by:

It was easy to install and works great. Haven't had any problems with it.

by:

After I cleared the rust from the bolt holes on the trucks frame (had to chase the threads with a tap) the installation was a snap.

by:

Just right for my new trailer.

by:

I purchased this unit to extend the trailer jack handle just far enough that I could open the tailgate on my truck with the trailer attached. It worked perfect. I tow a pop-up camper with 2006 Toyota Tacoma. Pricing was good and delivery was quick from etrailer. At first I tried to buy locally from auto parts store or camper store, but neither had in stock anything the right dimensions. The unit from etrailer is made in the USA, fit just right, and was better quality than what I saw locally.

by:

I have to back up a hill and around a corner with arthritis in my neck to park my boat. I installed a front trailer hitch on my suv and needed this longer shaft Ball Mount to keep the ball far enough away from my license plate and front bumber that I won't damage my vehicle. The unit fits the bill to a "T" and has already gotten compliments from others for its quality and stability. I look forward to fishing season so I can use it.

by:

I bought this ball mount to replace a shorter unit (8.5"-9") in order for the tailgate to clear the jack on one of my trailers when down. The first one that was delivered had a lot of damage to the powder coat finish due to rough shipping (UPS!). etrailer was very quick to send another out that arrived unscathed. Thanks again!

by:

I wanted a longer hitch sleeve to prevent back the trailer winch into the tailgate of my pickup and this works perfectly for that purpose. Price was great too! Thank you etrailer!

by:

This is the 10th order I have made from etrailer.com, most of them with multiple items. I cannot say enough about what great experiences I have had with etrailer.com. The website is incredibly helpful, the search tools are great, and the specs, videos and other information are very helpful. The items always ship right away, and arrive well packaged and promptly - and for me they have to cross the border to Canada. I recommend this site to my friends with trailers and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great experience - and who doesn’t!

by:

Fit my application perfectly - I wanted more space between the tow vehicle and trailer jack so that I could open my tailgate with the trailer attached. Gave me just enough clearance. Shipping was fast, service was great - thanks etrailers!!

by:

Well made heavy duty trailer hitch ball mount just what I needed
so the tailgate would clear the jack stand

by:

High quality, does everything advertised, easy to use. Very pleased with the purchase.

by:

Having searched and not finding what I wanted or perhaps not really knowing what I wanted, I called and talked to Cathy. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. She checked and guided me to a longer shank which will give me a longer turning radius, as the tongue on my trailer is short and is a problem. The unit is a solid piece of equipment. I had a clevis pin from a 1 1/4" shank and thought I would use that and not order another and she advised me that the pin for a 2" shaft is larger and I needed a new one. She was so good and accommodating I even asked for her boss to commend her for her good work and pleasant personality. Jlw

by:

It is too large to slide into the 2" receiver. I may have to grind off some of the coating ti get it slide in and out easily. There was no pin with the hall mount so I will have to get one.

by:

Top-notch product. Just completed a 1400 mile trip pulling a trailer with my Chevy Equinox and my etrailer hitch: issue free! That's the best

by:

Received quickly. Happy with unit. The extra length is helpful for backing the trailer into tight areas by keeping the trailer a little further from the truck bumper.

by:

I was throughly pleased with etrailers quick response and fast shipping. The ball mount I ordered was packaged well, and was good quality.I think I have found a good source for my towing-trailer needs.I'll admit there are not too many moving parts on a ball mount, but they got the job done and treated me right.

Big thank you too everybody at etrailer,

Billy Elkins

Perfect for my clamp on bike rack, C18013, on my V60. Gave me just enough area to mount it on.

by:

Metal walls thick.
Weld between tubular
piece and plates substantial.

After 1 yr: No rust. Finish still good. Sticker has not faded.
Car parked outside in SC. This was left on about 25% of year.

by:

Fits the Subaru XV Torklift "EcoHitch Invisi" hitch perfectly.

by:

I have a Toyota Tacoma pulling an A-Liner Expedition. Used a Ball and Ball mount from Wal-Mart last year. I upgraded to this and heavier rated Ball, and we noticed an immediate difference.

E-Trailer staff, keep doing what you are doing. Your company and products have just earned a loyal customer. Thank You!!

  • Does Ball Mount Have To Place Trailer Ball Exactly Level
You will want to choose a ball mount that will place the trailer ball at the appropriate level so that your trailer is towed level, or within 1-1/2 inches plus or minus either way. The ball mount you reference, # D-4, has a rise of 3/4 inch so it should work well for your application. I have included a FAQ article on choosing the correct ball mount for you to check out.

  • Will There Be Play Between the Ball Mount Shaft and the Hitch
There will be a small amount of play between the shank of the ball mount and the receiver hitch when the ball mount is installed. If you would like to eliminate this play you can use an anti-rattle device like an Anti-Rattle Device for 2 inch Hitches # SR25219. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out also. I attached an FAQ on ball mounts that you might find informative also.

  • Does Curt Ball Mount D-4 Have Same Capacity in Rise and Drop Position
Yes the Curt Ball Mount # D-4 has the same weight capacity when used in the rise and drop position.

  • Will Using a Longer Ball Mount Give Me Less Tongue Weight Capacity
Fortunately, this is a case where any lost tongue weight capacity will be negligible (unless you add a severely long ball mount). But you are correct; adding adapters or extensions can cut your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent in many cases. But the good news is for this application, carrying a towing bike rack, you will not have to worry about losing tongue weight capacity. I recommend the # 40343 Ball Mount. It measures 10-1/2 inches from center hole to center hole. If you need...

  • Will Pre-Drilled Round Rubber Bumpers D4-96 Replace Bumper with More Holes
If the distance you have between the mounting holes on your horse trailer bumper is 11 inches the part # D4-96 is going to match up and work well. If it has more mounting holes that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. It would just overhang a bit. Or you could trim it down.

  • Can a 4 Inch Bumper Strip be Used in Place of One that Sticks Out 3 Inches
The Pre-drilled round rubber bumper # D4-96 is going to stick out a little further than the old bumper you have but it will still work. The length would have to be trimmed down since the new one is 96 inches. The mounting holes are spaced 11 inches apart on center on the new one as well so it will work on your trailer.

  • Ball Mount Recommendation for Use with a Draw-Tite # 75673 on a 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon
There is not a required ball mount for this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75673. Since you are worried about clearance I would recommend you use a Trailer Hitch Ball Mount, part # D-4. This ball mount has a distance of 10-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the ball hole. You would have plenty of clearance to run this ball mount in the rise position. I attached installation instructions below as well as a review video of this hitch for you to check out.

  • Long Ball Mount Recommendation with a 1-1/4 inch Ball Hole
Without knowing exactly what you have it's hard to say for certain how much longer of a ball mount you would need. But the Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 4285 measures 12 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball hole (which is 1-1/4 inches in diameter). This ball mount is also rated for up to 12,000 lbs GTW and up to 1,200 lbs TW.

  • Will Round Rubber Trailer Bumper Fit Trailer With 12 Inches Between Mounting Holes
I can understand not wanting to drill holes in the bumper, but the Pre-Drilled Round Rubber Trailer Bumper - 96" Long x 2-1/16" Wide # D4-96 measures 11 inches on center between the bolt holes, there isn't anything that can be done that wouldn't require you to drill new holes in this bumper to match your 12 inch on center measurement.

  • Why Cant Weight Distribution System be Used on 2018 VW Atlas
A weight distribution system is going to put a lot of stress onto the vehicle and trailer hitch. Typically, when a vehicle manufacturer prohibits a weight distribution system from being used, it simply means that the frame of the vehicle is not designed to handle the additional stress from the system, as it might result in damage to its frame. As long as you remain under the towing capacities of your VW Atlas, it will be perfectly safe to tow your 3,000 pound travel trailer. Using a standard...

In order to determine the rise or drop you need on a ball mount with your 2015 BMW X5, you will just need to take a couple quick measurements. Starting on the BMW, you will want to take a measurement from the ground to the top of the trailer hitch receiver. Then on your trailer, you will measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler.
