Have pulled trailer several times with this hitch. Very impressive, smoother and easier on truck than conventional hitch, less jerking and bounce.

by:

I needed the 8.75" rise for my 4,000 lbs. boat and trailer. This was the only one that was rated over 3,500 lbs. I received it yesterday and it's perfect for my needs. The cushioning thing in the receiver is an added bonus. Finally, no more clunking on stopping and start ups.

by:

I purchased the AMSC10 because I needed a 10" drop hitch to tow my lowboy enclosed trailer with my lifted Toyota Tundra.

I tried several other types of hitches with this towing combo and I was always disappointed. Mostly because of the fit/sloppiness of the ball mount into the receiver. This would cause a lot of noise and the feeling of the trailer "bucking" while hitting bumps and such. The other hitches that I tried were those cool aluminum ones, both a fixed one and an adjustable one. Although they were pretty, both left me very disappointed.

The shipping for this hitch from Etrailer was fast and efficient. I received emails informing me of my order status throughout the whole process. Upon receiving my AMSC10, I tested it out and found it to be a much nicer fit into the receiver.

Once I hooked up to the trailer and began to tow, the difference was extremely noticeable. This hitch is quiet, it doesn't buck, and in fact, comparatively, you wouldn't even know the trailer was behind you unless you looked.

I am actually really excited about towing with this hitch. I know it sounds goofy, because it is, but it makes the task so much more pleasurable with the cushion ball mount. I'm already thinking about buying the 8" drop for my normal trailers.

I'm running an F350 King Ranch 4x4 with all terrain tires mounted on the factory wheels. The 10" drop Convert-a-ball mount works perfectly with the Curt 2 5/16 rocker ball. I'm also running the large rear stone guards to protect the 5th wheel and boat from stone damage. That stone guard system mounts to the ball mount and requires a minimum distance of 10 1/2" from the center of the ball hole to the center of the lock pin hole. This ball mount I believe is 11.5" and works perfectly. I am very pleased with this product with it's 8k rating.

by:

This is such a great idea! It works flawlessly with my Jeep Wrangler and my Offroad trailer. The dampening incorporated into the hitch makes my ride so much smoother. I used to hear the clanking, tapping and banging while braking and while trailering offroad, but not any more! I highly recommend this hitch to anyone.

by:

Quick delivery from etrailer and looks high quality as I expected and I also ordered the Brophy 2" hitch ball.
My truck is a 2020 Chevy 2500HD with a 5.5" Pro Comp lift and the 10" drop puts the middle of the tow ball 20.5" from the ground.

by:

Could have done a better job packaging, the hitch blew through the box during transport.

by:

With our trailer weighing in at only 1,500 lbs, this drop hitch is seriously overkill. It functions as advertised and is well made. However, when towing our light trailer it clunks vertically each time we go over a bump in the road or start and stop. The mount on the drop hitch is a little small for our receiver.

by:

Manufacturer should stamp the weight ratings into the hitch instead of just a sticker that was already peeling off fresh out the box. Besides that, it’s a great value.

by:

Works great. Needed the drop to tow a utility trailer at level.

by:

Works Good!

Strong, works very well. Would recommend if you need a lot of !

This particular 10" drop hitch ball mount was the right mixture of quality, features, and low price. It appears to be quality built, and the shock cushioning is an unexpected plus. I used it right away today when I received it to tow my utility trailer to Lowe's. The trailer made less noise and rattling around in the receiver with this product. I have a lifted Jeep Wrangler and the 10" drop leveled out the trailer pretty well. Also happy the AMSC10 is made in the U.S.A. ! Ordering process and follow-up by e-trailer were first rate. Appreciate the additional quick delivery.

Still doing great! Have used it several times and works well.

by:

The Cushioned Ball Mount with an 8-3/4" Rise was needed to allow a 2004 Ford Van to tow my offroad capable Chalet Camp trailer. The Trailer sits level with the ball at ~20" off the road while this van's receiver sits at just over 11".

The 10,000lb rating on this mount is way overkill for this 1500lb trailer but the cushioning should help avoid the "Klunk" sound every time we stop or takeoff.

Thanks to Patrick and the Crew at etrailer for their help with this selection.

1 year later... Hitch is still working fine. Tows the trailer like its not even back there.

by:

Have not towed with it yet but looks like what I need for my Motot Home. Arrived in two days as promised. Well packed and undamaged. I will deffinately use E-trailer for any further towing needs.

I have the 10" drop/8" rise version of this drawbar. My experience with it over the past year and about 8,000 miles of flat-towing my 5000# has overall been good. I use a Sprinter 3500 Class B motorhome as my tow vehicle, so I'm towing at just about the maximal weight rating for towing.

I like that it has some "cushion" for the back and forth one experiences with flat-towing. However, it does have some looseness of the hitch pin holding this draw bar in the hitch platform, and there is still some rattling back and forth as this looseness is taken-up before the rubber cushion is engaged to soften the jostling. I use a floor-mounted inertial tow-braking device in my Jeep, so there's always some lag in when the brakes will engage. I think I have less rattling with another standard draw bar when I use a hitch tightener that clamps the tow bar in the hitch platform; but although that system eliminates the rattle, using that clamp would not allow the cushioning to work.

Overall, this isn't perfect, but it does do what it claims to do. The one improvement I'd make would be to figure a way to firmly attach the tow-vehicle end of this tow bar in the hitch platform while still allowing the cushioning to function.

GREAT 10" DROP HITCH, WAS NOT SURE IT WAS BEEFY ENOUGH TO HANDLE 1600 LBS OF TONGUE WT. BUT NO PROBLEM. BEST FEATURE IS THE POLYURETHANE BUSHING THAT THE PIN GOES THROUGH. IT TAKES AWAY ALOT OF THAT ROUGH BANGING WHEN STARTING, STOPPING AND SMOOTHER RIDE THEN HITCHES W/O THE BUSHING. VERY PLEASED!!

by:

Works great no jerking or bucking when towing sometimes forget I am towing. Arizone to Califorina

Bought a new tow vehicle and needed a longer drop down shank for my travel trailer. No one locally had this size in stock and all wanted to charge an arm & leg to "special order" it for me. I politely turned them down and came here to etrailer.com to order it myself. Website was extremely easy to navigate to find the one I needed, including providing me with detailed examples of how to figure out which length I needed. Ordered this item and the 2.5" - 2" adaptor with 3 day shipping, and both arrived in 2 days! Tested them out to make sure they fit my hitch (they did) and then over to make sure they would leave my trailer level for towing (it is).

Very pleased with etrailer.com and am already looking at items on here to start customizing my new truck with. Thanks!

by:

Just what I needed, new truck with 20 inch tires, GVW 8000lbs, could not of been more pleased. Great web site, details you need, super fast shipping. Will be back in the future.
Thank you

Be a year, excellent tow hitch, the more I use it the better I like it. I tow across open terrain and the cushion softens the jerking back and forth. My grandson wanted the hitch for his new truck, gave him your web site and the money to purchase it. KEEPING MY.

by:

This drop hitch is exactly what I needed and as described. I have pulled cargo trailers, boats and even moved a camper to the lake and it worked perfectly. The experience with the order process and shipping was great!

Thanks etrailer for everything!

by:

I bought this as my new truck was much higher than the old one. The purpose was to pull a small horse trailer. The cushioned hitch helps minimize the jolts and noise while towing. Hitch has served well. Price was good, good hitch.

by:

The hitch, pricing and service I received from etrailer were excellent. The hitch I got was a replacement for one that someone else liked so much they stole mine. I am sure they are impressed with the product as well :-)
Seriously good site and excellent product.

by:

Works great on my truck. GMC with a 6 inch lift, air bags 35 inch tires and and a camper. Needed a strong hitch to tow my 14ft dual axle trailer on 4x4 roads as far as I can get back in the desert. Welds are very well done, one tough hitch!

by:

I used this on my 94 chevy crewcab 3500 4 x 4.It has a 6" lift and 35" tires. It was hard to pull my camper in certain spots since the back was always dragging. With this new hitch it pulls level and it seems to not jerk back and forth near as much. I love it!!!!!!

by:

Hitch has operated perfectly for the past year. I like the urethane shock absorber that cushions the forward movement of the trailer. It was used on a 24' enclosed cargo pulled by an F350 with 8" of lift.
