Note: Does not work with Lock 'N' Roll couplers with articulation on the trailer side.
This hitch combines with a Lock 'N' Roll trailer-end coupler (sold separately) to create a safe, secure, fully articulating connection that's great for towing whether you're on the road or off-road. It's more secure than a traditional ball hitch, and it's more comfortable and quieter than a pintle setup. The Lock 'N' Roll connects quickly and easily, and can adapt to any towing conditions.
When using a traditional ball coupler, it can be hard to tell if the coupler is fully latched around the ball. You can head out assuming the connection is secure, only to have the trailer pop off of the ball and disconnect while you're towing. With the Lock 'N' Roll, that won't happen.
This unique hitch is designed to interlock with a matching trailer-side coupler to form a tight, secure connection. Unlike on a ball coupler, the latching components on the Lock 'N' Roll system are easy to see, so you can tell at a glance if the connection is secure.
Once secure, the Lock 'N' Roll setup offers a wide range of motion, which makes for a smooth ride. Because of the articulating action of the combined hitch and coupler, the Lock 'N' Roll connection can handle the harsh bumps and road shock that could otherwise stress and potentially damage a ball coupler.
The Lock 'N' Roll connection also makes your trailer less vulnerable to theft. Unlike a traditional ball coupler, which is compatible with any hitch ball of a matching size, the trailer-side Lock 'N' Roll coupler can only connect to a vehicle-side Lock 'N' Roll hitch. So your trailer cannot be towed away unless it's connected to a vehicle with a Lock 'N' Roll hitch installed.
With the Lock 'N' Roll, you can have peace of mind knowing your connection will not come apart or succumb to damage caused by road shock, nor will your trailer be vulnerable to theft.
The pintle hitch connection is the most common setup when towing off road because of the flexibility in the connection. But that flexible connection can also result in a lot of slop. This can cause uncomfortable jerking as well as rattle and noise. In addition, when using a pintle/lunette ring setup, it can be difficult to back up your vehicle and trailer without jackknifing. And it can be hard to disconnect at certain angles, which may be a necessity when overlanding.
The Lock 'N' Roll assembly, on the other hand, offers a close-fit, slop-free connection that's designed for off-roading. This close-fitting design provides a smoother ride than a pintle/lunette ring connection with less rattle. It also makes it easy to back your vehicle and trailer up without jackknifing.
When combined, the Lock 'N' Roll hitch and coupler also create a fully articulating connection that's great for off-roading. The bearing that's built into the vehicle-end hitch allows for 360 degrees of rotation, which means that your trailer could actually roll all the way over and not take your vehicle with it. The connection also pivots side to side and up and down, making it easy to take rough trails without jarring your setup. This also allows for fast and easy disconnection, even at extreme angles.
Each Lock 'N' Roll setup requires 2 parts - a trailer end and a vehicle end. Together they create a strong, secure connection. To connect, just line up the trailer end and vehicle end together and place the outer metal tabs of the trailer-end coupler into the hooks on the vehicle-end hitch. Then fold the latching plates on the vehicle-end hitch down and secure them in place over the tabs using the included pin and clip. With the latching plates secured, the Lock 'N' Roll assembly will stay firmly connected.
When the trailer-side coupler and vehicle-side hitch are secured together, they form an articulating assembly with 3 axes of directional motion. The uniquely designed bearing on the vehicle-side hitch allows the connection to rotate a full 360 degrees. The trailer-side coupler's hinge allows the connection to pivot to the left and to the right. And when the 2 parts are joined, the tabs will roll inside of the hooks so that the entire assembly can tilt up and down.
Towing with the Lock 'N' Roll is easy, and it gives you a connection that's both flexible and secure.

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at a lock and roll articulating hitch with a three position channel for inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter hitch receivers. Now, this chain mount hitch links with a lock and roller side coupler to hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank of the channel bracket slides into the hitch on the vehicle. It secures in there with a pin and clip, which is not included so if you need a hitch pin and clip or hitch lock, you can check those out at etrailer.com.And then the actual hitch portion bolts to the channel bracket and then the head unit provides the attachment point for a trailer side coupler. Now, I do have a trailer side coupler so I just want to show you real quick how that attaches. Basically what you need to do is remove this pin and clip and then we have rotate the latch plates out of the way. And then this is what the coupler looks like to that fits into those groves. Latch plates come back over and then you secure them by re-installing the pin and clip through the holes. And so what's really cool about this system is the pivoting action that it allows.
It offers a more secure connection than a traditional ball coupler. The vehicle side latch plates interlock with the trailer side coupler to form a nice strong connection so there's no more worries about your coupler popping off the ball. And again, the articulating design softens road shock and is great for off road applications. We have a bearing system in the head unit that allows for 360 degree rotation, which is located right here. You can see how I can rotate the channel bracket of the unit and it's putting any strain or movement on the actual coupler point. And then we have full articulation when it's paired with a trailer coupler because this provides the side to side and up and down movement that we need without, again, moving the coupler joint. So it's a really nice design. Again, great for off road applications. Easy to use. Now, this pin and clip is included, which again is for the head assembly right here.
It features that tight interlock connection which creates a smoother quieter ride than a pintle hitch. The close fit connection reduces rattling noise and jerking motion. The channel bracket lets you adjust the hitch's height to match different trailers so you can raise or lower this portion, we're calling this the hitch. You can raise and lower that hitch and bolt it into the channel to change the height. It does come with grade five mounting bolts and lock nuts, which are included. It's a fast easy hook up and disconnect. You have the wide range of motion that makes it easy to connect, even at an angle.
Attachment hardware is included for securing the latch plates. Again, that's that pin and clip. We're looking at a steel alloy construction. It's very strong and durable. It does have a black painted finish to resist rust and corrosion and it meets SAEJ684 towing safety regulations. Now, again, this is designed to slide into an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter trailer hitch receivers. When it comes to the maximum gross trailer weight capacity, for this unit we're looking at 2,500 pounds.
Maximum tongue weight is 250 pounds. The channel itself, top to bottom, is seven and a half inches tall. Outer edge to outer edge is three and eleven sixteenths inches wide. Now, the holes, these are separated on center by two inch centers, and it's a three position mount. The inner width right here is about three inches wide. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes measures around six and a half inches. And this product is made in the USA and covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's gonna do it for today's look at the lock and roll articulating hitch with the three position channel designed for inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter trailer hitch receivers.

The Lock N Roll is a great towing set-up for off road trailers. Super strong, great articulation and made in USA. Just an FYI that I have not seen mentioned on any web site: the rise/drop is measured from the center of the 2" receiver.

Excellent. I really liked how the shipping information was updated with the persons name on every step of the process. Arrived quickly. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that the receiver didn’t come with the hitch pin that attaches to my trucks receiver. I didn’t notice this when I ordered.

Quality trailer hitch. Exactly as advertised. Strong heavy steel. Good welds. Fits perfectly. Prompt delivery. It will certainly enhance my off road trailering experience. The only modification I made was to remove the needle style zerk fitting and replaced it with a standard zerk fitting. Makes for easier lubing the joint. Glad to be rid of my restrictive ball hitch.

We got it together with the trailer part/side; and the same: So far it resolved the problem we had. You just need to be careful when driving at speeds over 50 miles if full, because the trailer will be able to move in all axles if a sudden move/turn from your wheel; though you can add sway bars. We are glad we bought it and we may buy another one.

Been a year using it and have had zero issues. Only downside is that it’s harder to line up than a traditional ball. The tolerances are very tight so when hooking up there is less wiggle room. That’s also a plus for me I’d rather have a good tight fit anyway.

Had the Lock n Roll hitch for a year. Many off road adventures towing our trailer. Has worked perfectly and find it easier to use than a conventual ball hitch.

I recently purchased a product from etrailer. I’m not much for internet purchases and contacted them to speak directly to a live person. Best call I’ve made in awhile. I spoke with Donna from etrailer and was treated to good ole fashion customer service. Donna was great and a sale and future costumer was made. Great service great product.

I always receive great customer service whenever I call etrailer. The hold time can be 5-15 minutes but the knowledge on the other end of the phone is worth waiting for. The lock n roll coupler is a proven and necessary piece of equipment if you are planning on taking your off-road trailer off the beaten path like I am.

Customer service was amazing. Odelia took the time to help me find the right product for my Jeep. She was very friendly and patient with me reviewing the different options! I will return just because of her customer service. The product itself was as advertised and is well made and easy to install. It was exactly as Odelia indicated. The best part is I also received it a day early, which gave me the time I needed to get it out on even though it was simple. I will shop here again!!! Thank you Odelia and etrailer!
