What's going on everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Multi-Ball Mount. We're gonna get four different types of mounts here, we're gonna get a 1 7/8 inch ball, it's going to have a tongue weight of 200 pounds and a gross trailer weight of 2,000 pounds, we are gonna get a 2 inch ball, it's gonna have a 600 pound tongue weight, and a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight, and then we're gonna have the big 2 5/16 inch ball, and this is gonna have a thousand pound tongue weight, with a 10,000 pound gross trailer weight, and that's gonna be the same with our Clevis hook here, and the overall length of this whole entire hitch, mount, is gonna be about 12 1/2 inches, it's about 12 1/4 to here, but 12 1/2 when you count this Clevis Hook on top. Whenever we're using the 2 5/16 inch ball, or the Clevis Hook, we're gonna be using the hole right here, so it's going to be sticking into your hitch a little bit farther. So from the center of the hitch pin hole, to the center of the ball, it's gonna be about 7 3/8 of an inch. But, whenever we're using the 2 inch ball and the 1 7/8 inch ball, we're gonna be using the farther back hole, and from the center of that to the center of the ball, it's gonna be about 8 1/2 inches.
And everything is gonna be coated with a powder coated finish, so that steel is going to be extra strong and protected from all the salt and water and moisture on the ground. The only thing that isn't coated is gonna be our hook at the end and that's just gonna be bare steel. So, we have to move this big, black, enclosed trailer and use a 2 5/16 inch ball, so we're gonna put it into my car and load it up. One thing that doesn't come with this ball mount is a pin and clip, you can just get a basic pin and clip here, just 5/8 inch in diameter or, if you really want to, which I would suggest, and that is getting a locking pin, we do sell one, I like the etrailer one just because it works really well, and it's pick proof and it'll fit in there nice and neat, just because this can be used for so many different things a lot of different people are gonna have uses for it so, if one of those people have sticky fingers, they might run off with it so, definitely go ahead and get something to lock this thing into place. On our boat trailer we have an inch and 7/8 ball so it's really quick to really swap these around if you have a pin and clip pull it out rotate it around and replace that pin this is gonna be a little bit longer of a task if we have a locking pin on it, but if you're really looking for a higher end ball mount that's not gonna require you to have to take it out, BMW makes a nice Tri-Ball Mount or a Dual-Ball Mount that you don't really have to take it out of the hitch.
All you have to do is take one pin out rotate it around so that's gonna be a little bit easier and quicker if you do want to get a locking pin for your hitch but, it all just depends on what you really want. This is more lighter duty and those BMW are a little bit heavier duty and more premium of an option. If you're like me and you have a stock ride height on whatever vehicle you may be hauling, like your stock Silverado's your stock F-150's or Dodge Ram's this is gonna be plenty perfect for that you won't really need a riser or drop like me today, but if you do have a lifted truck you might want to maybe look into getting an adjustable ball mount. If someone's ever stuck we can use the Clevis Hook to take a tow rope strap it around and that's gonna stay on there a lot easier than some of the ball mounts I've done this before when I didn't have a Clevis Hook and it just eventually slides off pretty easily, with this it's gonna stay nice and secure and it's not gonna rotate up enough to come off. All in all, whenever looking for a ball mount sometimes you just have situations where you need multiple different size balls to be able to haul whatever you're hauling.
This is definitely the entry level option when it comes to a multi-ball mount but we have some other premium options on our website but this type is definitely going to be the Swiss army knife of ball mounts. And that's going to do it for a look at the Reese Multi-Ball Mount..

It is heavy duty, fits my 2" hitch perfectly and looks like it will last forever. It sticks out a ways if using the 1 7/8" or 2" ball so watch your shins!
I was impressed by the heavy duty construction of this important link in hauling my trailers. I have several different sizes and it's so easy to get the right ball size. Another hit for etrailer.com!
