A Solution for Rough Rides

Have you ever hit a bump while towing and had that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most ball mounts are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer.

Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch Air will change all that.

Air Bag and Bumper Stop Shock Absorption Technology

Shocker Hitch Air Bag

Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air acts like a small suspension system between your truck and trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.

Shocker Hitch Bumper Cushion

The body of the Shocker Hitch Air is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank, kind of like a seesaw or teeter totter, as the air bag, which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver, and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock.

Shocker Hitch Pivot

When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, the unit pivots so that the air bag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the 2 cushioned bumper stops help soften the force.

Customize Amount of Shock Absorption

Shocker Hitch Bumper Cushion

Using the easily accessible air valve on the side of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the Shocker Air's air bag to best accommodate your trailer's load. If you're hauling heavy-duty landscaping equipment, for example, you can add air to account for the increased capacity. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your underloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.

How to Air Up Shocker Hitch><br class=

Finding the right pressure for your setup is simple. Once you've hooked up your trailer and the tongue weight is pushing down on the hitch ball, there will be a gap between the top of the adjustable channel and bumper.

Shocker Hitch Air Bag PSI><br class=

Inflate the air bag until the bumper rests flush against the top of the hitch. Once the gap is gone, you'll know the air bag has the appropriate amount of air pressure for your load.

If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit of the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.

Adjustable Drop Hitch for Towing Different Trailers

How to Adjust Shocker Hitch Height

Adjusting the height of the hitch ball to accommodate for a different trailer takes almost no time at all. Just unclip the adjustment pins and grab the easy-to-grasp handles to remove them. Then slide the ball platform up or down to the desired position. Once you have the correct height, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

Video Transcript for Review of Shocker Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Air Hitch 2-5/16" Ball Raised Mount - SHK47VR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with And today, we're taking a look at this shocker air receiver hitch with a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball on a raised ball mount. This is for a two inch hitch receiver, and you're gonna have a gross towing capacity of 12,000 pounds. Now, this shock absorbing receiver hitch provides superior comfort while towing by reducing road shock and chucking using airbag and bumper stop technologies. Now, this hitch features an industrial strength airbag that you see here and these cushioned bump stops right here at the top, they are going to dampen chocking and road shock.

This hooks your trailer to your tow vehicle with this included 2-5/16 inch hitch ball on this raised ball mount. The ball is zinc plated to resist rust and corrosion. And as you can see this hitch does include these two easy-to-remove pins. These large rings are very easy to grab hold off. I can easily put up to four fingers in these rings and that is going to mean no more fumbling with small hitch pin heads.

So, these are gonna be very easy to grab onto and remove. Plus, these rings can fold back, either front or back, either direction to move out of your way if you so desire. These also include large safety clips that's going to make securing your pins very easy. Now, let me just show you how easy this is to adjust the height of this ball mount. So, I'm gonna remove these safety clips.

And let me turn this around. And I'm gonna go ahead and begin pulling these pins. Now, you will get a rise of two inches and a drop of one inch. So, I'm gonna line up my holes here. Now let me go ahead and put in my safety clips.

And we are secure and our ball has been adjusted. Now, the inside with of our channel here is three and three quarters inches wide. And the distance between the vertical adjustment holes is one inch in between each of those holes. Now, this is also going to be compatible with the shocker hitch combination ball, the two inch ball, the sway bar mount, the drop mount, the standard ball mount, the clevis mount, the pintle hook, the cushioned drawbar and the standard drawbar. All of those are sold separately, but you can find them on the related products section of this product page. Now, this air hitch works like a teeter-totter with the airbag on one end and your trailer coupler on the other end. And as your trailer exerts force downward, the unit pivots and the airbag absorbs the energy. And then when your trailer jerks backwards or pushes forward, these two cushioned bump stops are going to reduce the force for a smoother ride. Now, this airbag is easily adjustable. We have a air valve here that comes with a cap. For heavier loads, you would add more air and for lighter loads, you would just let air out. So again, it comes with a cap, very convenient to use. On the opposite side, we have a Zerk fitting here that's going to allow very easy maintenance of the pivot point, so you can attach a grease gun there to make sure that your pivot point is always greased up and ready to go. This is a Grade 50 steel plate construction and our cold rolled steel shank to provide maximum durability. This is also shot blasted and powder coated prevent rust. Now again, this is going to fit two inch trailer hitch receivers. The gross towing weight is 12,000 pounds. The tongue weight is 1200 pounds. And the hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch. This does not include a pin and clip, so that would be something that you would have to pick up separately. I would recommend taking a look at the InfiniteRule locking pins for the shocker hitch ball mounts, for two inch and two and a half inch hitches. You will get three locking pins. One to secure this hitch to your receiver hitch on your vehicle and then, the other two pins will secure your attachments to your shocker hitch. You can find those on our website using item number IR39FR. Now, the distance between the first hitch pin hole to the center of the ball is gonna be 10 1/4 inches. And then the distance from the second hitch pin hole to the center of the ball will be sitting right at 11 1/4 inches. The distance below the receiver tube is gonna be five inches from the bottom of the receiver tube. And just some additional installation tips, this don't require a minimum of seven inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rearmost portion of your tow vehicle. And the receiver opening should be flush with the bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle for the best fit. Additionally, a two inch shocker air receiver will not fit a two and a half inch hitch even with a reducer sleeve as trucks with two and a half inch hitches have deeper frames. And a two and a half inch shocker air receiver will fit a three inch hitch with a reducer sleeve. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I hope it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
