A Solution for Rough Rides

Have you ever hit a bump while towing and had that road shock jostle and shake you all the way down to your bones? It's a common feeling. Most ball mounts are made almost completely of metal, so there's nothing to help soften the shock when you hit a bump. This results in a bumpy, jerky ride that not only takes a toll on you as you drive, but it beats up your equipment too, leading to premature wear and tear on both your truck and trailer.

Fortunately, the Shocker Hitch Air will change all that.

Air Bag and Bumper Stop Shock Absorption Technology

Shocker Hitch Air Bag

Using a built-in air bag and rubber cushions, the Shocker Hitch Air acts like a small suspension system between your truck and trailer. The air bag and bumpers help absorb road shock, creating a smoother, more comfortable ride while also protecting your truck and trailer from unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes, chassis, trailer frame, and suspensions.

Shocker Hitch Bumper Cushion

The body of the Shocker Hitch Air is designed to pivot back and forth on the shank, kind of like a seesaw or teeter totter, as the air bag, which sits directly beneath your truck's receiver, and the cushioned bumpers take turns absorbing the road shock.

Shocker Hitch Pivot

When you hit a bump and your trailer bounces, the unit pivots so that the air bag can isolate and absorb the energy. When your trailer jerks forward or backward, the 2 cushioned bumper stops help soften the force.

Customize Amount of Shock Absorption

Shocker Hitch Bumper Cushion

Using the easily accessible air valve on the side of the unit, you can adjust the air pressure in the Shocker Air's air bag to best accommodate your trailer's load. If you're hauling heavy-duty landscaping equipment, for example, you can add air to account for the increased capacity. Once the equipment is unloaded, simply release some air so that your underloaded trailer won't experience a stiff ride.

How to Air Up Shocker Hitch><br class=

Finding the right pressure for your setup is simple. Once you've hooked up your trailer and the tongue weight is pushing down on the hitch ball, there will be a gap between the top of the adjustable channel and bumper.

Shocker Hitch Air Bag PSI><br class=

Inflate the air bag until the bumper rests flush against the top of the hitch. Once the gap is gone, you'll know the air bag has the appropriate amount of air pressure for your load.

If you happen to get stuck in a situation where you're unable to inflate the bag, there's no need to worry; you can still tow your trailer. Without the inflated air bag, you won't get the full benefit of the Shocker Hitch Air, but you'll still get some built-in cushion with the bumper stops.

Adjustable Drop Hitch for Towing Different Trailers

How to Adjust Shocker Hitch Height

Adjusting the height of the hitch ball to accommodate for a different trailer takes almost no time at all. Just unclip the adjustment pins and grab the easy-to-grasp handles to remove them. Then slide the ball platform up or down to the desired position. Once you have the correct height, reinsert the pins and secure the clips, and fold back the handles so they're out of the way. Then you're ready to go.

Video Transcript for Review of Shocker Hitch Trailer Hitch Ball Mount - Air Hitch Drop Ball Mount 2" Ball - SHK89VR

Hi, everybody. Andy here with And today we're gonna take a look at this Shocker Air Receiver Hitch with drop ball mount and two inch ball for a two inch hitch receiver. This shock absorbing receiver hitch provides superior comfort while towing by reducing road shock and chucking using air bag and bumper stop technologies. Now this hitch features an industrial strength airbag as you see right here and these cushioned bump stops right here at the top that's going to dampen chucking and road shock. This hooks your trailer to your tow vehicle with this included drop mount and two inch ball.

As you can see here there are two easy to remove pins that have these large rings that I can easily fit up to four of my fingers through. So they're gonna be very easy to grasp and hold onto. By the way they do fold back in either direction as well in case you wanna move them out of your way. So, no more fumbling with small hitch pin heads. You also get these large safety clips that's going to make securing the pins and the clips very easy.

Let me just give you a brief demonstration of how easy it is to adjust our attachment. So I'm gonna, I went ahead and removed our safety clips and then I'm just gonna go ahead and remove these pins and adjust it a few levels up. So again, pins come out very easily, handles make it very easy to get a firm grasp on. So I'm just gonna adjust it to the highest level there. And we are in.

Then let me secure these with our clips. You're gonna get a drop range of 4 1/2 inches to 7 1/2 inches. And so we are secured and ready to go. And then the inside channel width right here is gonna be 3 3/4 inches wide. And then the distance between these vertical adjustment holes, center to center is gonna be one inch in between each of those holes.

Now, this is also gonna be compatible with the Shocker Hitch 2 5/16 inch ball, the sway bar mount, the raise ball mount, the clevis mount, the combination ball, the cushioned draw bar and standard draw bar. All of those attachments are sold separately, but you can find them under the related product section on this product page. Now this air hitch works like a teeter-totter with this airbag on one end and then your trailer coupler on the other end. And as your trailer exerts force downward this unit will pivot and the airbag will absorb the energy. And when your trailer jerks backwards or pushes forward the two cushion bump stops here at the top are going to reduce the force for a smoother ride. Now, this airbag is easily adjustable. There is a easy to access air valve here with an included cap and for heavier loads you would just add more air and for lighter loads you would just let the air out. To determine the correct amount of air to use you would simply hook your trailer up and then load the trailer that you are, the way that you are going to tow it. And then you would add air until these bump stops here at the top begin to compress. And once they begin to compress then you should have enough air or rather the right amount of air in your airbag for your load. Then you're ready to go. On the opposite side there is a Zerk fitting that's going to allow very easy and simple maintenance of that pivot point. Just use a grease gun and attach to that Zerk fitting and you can grease that as needed. This is a grade 50 steel plate construction and a cold rolled steel shank. All of that's gonna provide maximum durability. Now the hitch and the drop ball platform are all shot blasted and powder coated to resist rust. And the ball is zinc plated to prevent rust and corrosion as well. Now the gross towing capacity is 10,000 pounds, but do remember that a towing setup is always limited by its lowest rated component. Whether that be your vehicle, your hitch or another component. Again, this is going to fit two inch trailer hitch receivers. The hitch pin hole diameter is 5/8 of an inch. This does not include a pin and clip. So if you do not have a compatible pin and clip that's gonna work with a 5/8 of an inch hitch pin hole, then you would have to, that would be a separate purchase for you. However, I do recommend taking a look at the Infinite Rule Locking Pins for Shocker Hitch Ball Mounts for two inch and two and a 1/2 inch hitches. You will get three locking pins, one pin to lock and secure your Shocker Hitch to your trailer hitch receiver on the back of your vehicle. And then you'll get two additional pins to replace these pins, to lock and secure your attachment to your Shocker Hitch. It's a great way to protect and secure your investment. You can find those locking pins on our website using item number I-R-3-9-F-R. Now the distance between the first hitch pin hole to the center of our ball is gonna be 10 1/4 inches. And from the second hitch pin hole to the center of our ball about 11 1/4 inches. The distance below the receiver tube is gonna be five inches from the bottom of this receiver tube. Now this does require a minimum of seven inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear most portion of your tow vehicle. And the receiver opening should be flush with the bumper or protruding from the rear of the vehicle for best fit. Finally, a two inch Shocker Air Receiver will not fit a 2 1/2 inch hitch even with a reducer sleeve as trucks with a 2 1/2 inch hitch have deeper frames. A 2 1/2 inch Shocker Air Receiver will fit a three inch hitch with a reducer sleeve. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I do hope that this has been helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..
