Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this B&W two and five 16th inch diameter hitch ball with the one inch rise with the raw finish and a 24,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this hitch ball here provides a nice connection point for your trailer's coupler. It is designed for heavy duty towing. As we've mentioned, it's a two and five 16th diameter size, and that is stamped on the top of the ball.
It does have this built, one inch rise right here, that'll let you easily match the ball to your trailer height. This trailer hitch ball sits an extra inch above the ball mount platform. The threads on it down here, they are a fine thread, so there's 12 threads per inch, and that'll provide a nice, tight strong grip when it's installed. It is a heat treated steel. It's very durable.
It's a nice raw finish to it. You can see the lock washer and the nut is all included. So, when you go to install this, you'll drop this through a hole. The diameter is gonna be one and a quarter inch diameter hole you'll need. Drop the shank through there, put your lock washer up on there, take your nut, go ahead and tighten it down, and then torque it to the correct specs, that are listed for this ball.
This ball is made in the USA. The diameter, again, we've mentioned is two and five 16th. The shank dimensions, the diameter, we told you was one and a quarter inches in diameter. And I'm gonna take this off and we're gonna measure the length of the shank. Overall length is right at three and a quarter inches long.
The rise portion right here is gonna be one inch and the weight capacity, which is also stamped on the top of the ball, is 24,000 pounds. The gooseneck hitch in my pickup was threaded to accept a ball. The threads were damaged beyond repair and this was the only ball I could find with a long enough shank to reach through my hitch plate and still have enough threads for a nut on the backside. Worked perfectly. Just what I needed! Ball is high quality and well made.
Great hitch ball...... Actually the only I could find on line that would adapt to my Case tractor (needed a 3"+shank so the lock washer could be used with the nut) draw bar and could handle the weight with my dump trailer ....... 13 tons
Hoping this will solve the issue with the bulldog coupler hitting the hitch plate when in the field. Sits about as high as my turn over ball in my pickup.
The long shank worked great on my tractors drawbar for pulling a trailer in the field with a tractor.
