Video Transcript for Detailed Breakdown of the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball

Today we're going to be taking a look at Part Number A-6, this is the CURT two and five-sixteenth inch trailer hitch ball. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. This hitch ball is going to give us a shank diameter of an inch and a quarter, it's going to give us a shank length measuring from the bottom of the platform to the end of the threads of two and five-eighths of an inch. This is designed to fit draw bar thicknesses of a half inch to one inch thick. The hitch ball is going to offer a capacity of ten thousand pounds. It's made from a solid steel construction with a nice chrome finish on it, so it is going to stand up really well against rusting and corrosion. Here on the sides of the platform, it's going to have the flats, these are just your wench flats, makes for an easier installation, you can get your wrench around there for a nice, adequate grip.

Really going to come in handy when you need to torque this down. The hitch ball will need to be torqued to specifications listed by the manufacturer. You can find all that information on the tag that's going to come attached to the trailer hitch ball. You just want to make sure that you remove this tag before your installation. Really simple installation though. The hitch ball is going to go straight through that opening on your ball mount.

You're going to place on the lock washer as well as the nut, and then you're going to get everything tightened down, and again once you get it hand tight, or once you get it tight with a wrench, you will need to go ahead and torque it down to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. It looks like for this particular mount, it says to tighten the trailer ball to four hundred and fifty foot pounds of torque. That's going to do it for our review of Part Number A-6, this is the CURT two and five-sixteenth inch trailer hitch ball. .

The hitch and ball are perfect, as I needed a longer hitch to get past the bumper. Excellent product! When the package was delivered, there was a hole in the box and the actual hitch was missing. I sent an email to them and the shipped a new one the very next day! No questions! This type of customer service is rare these days and they have won my loyalty. Great folks over there!

  • Weight Distribution System For A 2020 Kia Telluride Towing a 5,000 lb Trailer
Hello Pete. It sounds like you are on the right track here, because the Curt MV Weight Distribution System # C17050 will definitely be a correct match for your 2020 Kia Telluride and your 5,000 lb trailer. Generally, we look more at the trailer side of things when selecting a weight distribution system. More specifically the loaded tongue weight of the trailer. The Curt # C17050 is recommended for trailers with a tongue weight between 400 and 600 lbs. It sounds like you will be within that...

  • Can You Use a Weight Distribution System on a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder
Yes, you can use a weight distribution system on a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder per the owner's manual. It's referred to as a "weight carrying hitch" in said manual. The Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System part # C17499 is a good option for this with built-in sway control. Please note, you'll also need a 2" Hitch Ball part # A-90 or 2-5/16" Hitch Ball part # A-6.

For your 2017 Airstream Bambi Sport 16 trailer, I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar # RP66082 This system is rated for total tongue weights between 200 and 600 lbs, so your completely loaded trailer tongue weight and any weight behind the rear axle of your Canyon will easily fit within this system. This system has dual cams and hot-rolled spring bars that keep your trailer tracking behind your vehicle and the constant tension prevents...

The Draw-Tite Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 7" Rise, 8" Drop - 9-1/2" Long - 12,000 lbs # 4283 is the closest we have to what you are looking for in a fixed mount. It has an 8 inch drop, 12K capacity, 1-1/4 inch hitch ball hole diameter, and 7/8 inch thick mount. The smaller diameter holes and thinner mount will leave you with only a 5K capacity. For a 2 inch ball, I recommend # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # A-6. Let me know if you have questions or need a recommendation for that 5K...

  • Will Curt Hitch Ball # A-6 Work on Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System RP66559
Yes, the Reese Steadi-Flex weight distribution system part # RP66559 that you referenced takes a hitch ball with a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank that is 2-5/8 inches long just like the part # A-6 so it would work well. Also this has the same 10k capacity as the Steadi-Flex.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15324 is the highest rated compatible hitch for your 2004 GMC Yukon. All other compatible hitches are class 3's whereas this is a class 5. The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-1033 does require a torque wrench that is capable of 450 ft-lbs to attach the hitch ball. The brackets welded to the frame appear to be standard hangers for a chain-style weight distribution hitch. Since the brackets are 30" back from the ball, I recommend using the Reese Weight Distribution System # RP67509. This requires the brackets to be placed exactly 30" back from the ball so it will match up nicely. • Best Way to Reduce Suspension Sag When Towing a Trailer
We have the perfect product for you, but it's not a suspension enhancement system as they are more ideal for vehicles that are carrying weight in the cargo area of the vehicle. For a towing situation a weight distribution system would be much better as it actually distributes the tongue weight of the trailer up to the front axle of the tow vehicle which will help with braking and handling. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight...

We do have hitch balls that are compatible with the Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3593 that you are looking at. The 3/4" ball hole diameter on the drawbar needs to match the shank diameter of the hitch ball that you choose. The 2-5/16" Curt Hitch Ball # A-6 that you referenced is for heavier towing applications and has a shank diameter of 1-1/4" so the shank is too large for the Draw-Tite drawbar. Yes. You can use a drop ball mount like the # C45336 with the Patriot Hitches # PH54FR to get to your 16" drop total. 5" drop ball mounts are very uncommon, so a 6" like mentioned above and raising the receiver in the Patriot mount will still get you where you need to be. Selection of the correct one for any given towing setup is based on the actual fully-loaded tongue weight (TW).
