Video Transcript for Complete Breakdown of the 2" Hitch Ball-A-82

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Trailer Ball. When it comes to trailer balls you wanna just make sure that it's the right size for your coupler. So this one's gonna be for a 2" coupler. So you just wanna make sure and check that, and it is gonna have a 3,500 pound capacity. So we also wanna make sure it's gonna be hefty enough for whatever we plan on hauling. And of course we need to pair it up with a correct ball mount.

So when you're looking at ball mounts, one, we wanna make sure that the platform's gonna be anywhere from 3/8" to an 1 1/4" thick because the shank is about 2 1/8" long. So it comes with the nut and the lock washer. So you wanna make sure it can go all the way through. And then of course, with the hole on the inside of our ball mount, we wanna make sure it has a diameter of 3/4". Anything bigger than that, of course it won't fit and anything smaller, we're gonna have a lot of play there, and that's not something that you want with your towing setup.

So just make sure all that kinda lines up. It's made of a steel construction, so it should not rust away over time, but you never know. There's just a lot of friction that happens, almost every single trailer ball that I've seen has a little bit wear after a couple of years of use. So don't expect this not to rust away. If you really wanted to upgrade from this trailer ball, you can get one that's machined out of straight stainless steel, but we do have some other ones that are going to resist against rust and corrosion completely.

That's probably the only thing you could do to upgrade. When it comes to trailer balls there's not really a whole lot to 'em. You just wanna make sure you pair it up with the right ball mount. You wanna make sure it is gonna be rated the same as the ball mount. And of course, it's gonna be rated for whatever you are hauling.

That's pretty much all you really need to know to pick out the right system to haul whatever you're hauling. And that's pretty much it for our look at the Curt 2" Trailer Ball..

Love the Stainless Steel ball. Looks nice even in rainy Seattle area.

by:

Solid piece of equipment at a great pri ce

by:

When installing the ball, the instructions call for a torque of 140 pounds, so you'll need a torque wrench. This is a good, solid product.

Still going strong. Great products and absolutely no complaints

Etrailer is my go to store for trailer parts. The curts 2” hitch ball is very high quality machined stainless steel. If your a person that doesn’t like rusty hitch balls than this is a product you will definitely like.

by:

This 2" hitch ball is made of quality stainless steel and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. I towed a RangeRunner Runaway camper 1200 miles from Summerfield, Florida to Rochester, New York and the hitch ball was great!

Thank you etrailer!!

by:

Love the large product selection at etrailer. Bought a (stainless steel) 2" ball, and (5-1/2 inch rise) drawbar for my 1-1/4" hitch. That high rise drawbar is not commonly carried in stock. Both items were in stock at etrailer. Standard delivery was fast, and tracking number was provided. Both items work great on initial checkout. Quality of the products are good, and I don't expect any problems with them in the future.

by:

Excellent quality stainless hitch ball!

Excellent quality!

by:

Needed a 1 1/4” hitch for my new Mazda. Only place that had that size was etrailer. Also got a 2” ball and Clevis pin to attach hitch. Everything arrived in perfect shape . Now I can haul my RAZR to cabin. etrailer always come through!.

by:

I have used this product allot since getting it a year ago. I store it in the trunk of my car next to the spare tire when not in use. It has no corrosion at all and works great with several trailers.

by:

All three items (hitch ball, extra long ball mount and hitch receiver lock came very quickly, packaged very well and are of high quality and are reasonably priced. The extra long ball mount has solved my problem of having to backup the car into the water. I have looked for it locally to no avail but have found it on etrailer.com.
In short I am very happy with the product and the service.

by:

This solid made and arrived early. Haven't pulled load yet but it installed great and fits.

by:

Excellent ball hitch. Installed easily and took it for a successful twenty mile test run. Any other trailer needs and I will be back to this site for sure!

by:

How could this product be anything less than stellar? It fits my class I hitch mount, and it allows me to tow my light duty trailer without me ever having to even think about it becoming a rusty eyesore on my car.

by:

The drawbar and hitch ball were exactly as described on the website and delivered very promptly. I value the wide selection of products offered by etrailer.com. Saves me lots of time when shopping for what I need.

by:

Excellent web site, providing all the details I needed for my 1.25" hitch. Could not find the information I needed on other web sites, so placed my order at eTrailer. Couldn't be happier.

by:

hitch has given me great service so has ball and drawbars I purchased

by:

With the help of my salesperson Lisa, I was able to find the correct hitch for my set up and she had to help me size it up, and it worked out perfectly. After placing the order I was notified when it shipped, and then a delivery date, best of all, it was less then a week.
great job Lisa, and e trailer.

by:

Price was right, shipped and received with no issues and the product is doing what it was intended to do. What impresses me about etrailer is all the extra information provided on your web site in reference about the product with helpful insight.

by:

THANKS FOR GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - I KNEW CALLING ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON WASN'T THE BEST IDEA BUT YOU ALL WERE ABLE TO GET IT SHIPPED OUT BEFORE THE CLOSE OF THE WORK DAY WHICH WOULD HAVE PUT SHIPPING OVER UNTIL MONDAY - THANKS FOR THAT. I'VE INSTALLED THE HITCH BALL BUT HAVEN'T USED IT YET. GREAT LOOKING PRODUCT. A REAL PLEASURE WORKING WITH YOU.

by:

Very well made, just like the Curt hitch and receiver I got from eTrailer.

by:

Pretty simple. It works like it should. Shipping was fair and fast. I like Etrailer and buy all my trailer gear from them.

by:

This trailer ball fits like a glove. It looks great, It was very easy to install. The sales staff was great to deal with. The video installation instruction are excellent.
Thank you

by:

Etrailer was very helpful and prompt when I needed to make a change to my on-line order. Product is exactly what I needed

by:

Great hitch ball, just what I needed for my new trailer!

by:

Good qualtity product, although I expected a more polished finish based on site's photos, instead it has a brushed/matte finish, but this is acceptable for a stainless steel ball.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport
For your 2008 Honda Fit, I recommend the Curt Class I, part # C11058 that you referenced. It installs fairly quickly and easily onto your vehicle and adds a 1-1/4 inch hitch. I recommend adding the Curt Class II Drawbar, part # C45521. This is a basic drawbar with a 3/4 inch diameter ball hole, and you'll combine this with either a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball, part # A-80 or 2 inch diameter hitch ball, part # A-82, depending on your trailer's coupler size. You'll connect this to the receiver...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch, Wiring Harness and Ball Mount for 2004 Volvo XC70
There are options to install a trailer hitch on your 2004 Volvo XC70 but the only fits for this vehicle are Class II hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver and they do not allow weight distribution to be used; I checked with the hitch manufacturers to make sure. Among these hitches for your Volvo I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12318 durable steel construction, easy bolt-on installation and the fact is made in the USA. • Ball Mount Compatibility with Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2012 Kia Soul
There are only Class I trailer hitch receivers available for your 2012 Kia Soul. The Curt Class II Drawbar # C45521 is what is recommended for a ball mount with a Class I trailer hitch, but the # C45014 is also compatible. Class I and Class II hitches are both 1-1/4 inch openings and there are not Class I rated ball mounts. For either ball mount, you will need the pin and clip # F-4 as well as a hitch ball. For a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend # A-82. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver fir 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid
Yes, the Curt # C12169 will fit your 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid. However, I recommend getting the Class III # C13397 instead. In addition to the higher capacity, you will have more available options when it comes to accessories and ball mounts with the 2" receiver. The # C56370 will work as long as you have the AWD model. If you have the front wheel drive model you will need the # C59236 instead. Since it sounds like you will be towing you also need a ball mount. If you stick with the 1-1/4"...

The Curt hitch for your 2006 Volvo XC70 # C12318 is what i would recommend for you as it has the higher weight capacities and is made in the USA. Then for trailer wiring the part # C56236 will be your best option. With Class I hitches like this you have to use the required ball mount that the manufacturer specifies. So for the Curt hitch you'd need the # C45016 which has a 2-5/8 inch rise or 3-1/4 inch drop. If your trailer needs a 2 inch hitch ball you'd want the part # A-82 or for a...

For a drawbar Curt recommends the Curt Class II Drawbar - 2-5/8" Rise, 3-1/4" Drop - 7-1/4" Long - 3,500 lbs # C45521 which has a 2-3/4" rise.
