Today we're going to be taking a look at part number C40031. This is the Curt 1 7/8" Hitch Ball. It's going to feature the high-rise design that's going to let you easily match the ball height to the trailer height. The trailer hitch ball is going to sit an extra inch above the ball mount platform. It's going to offer fine threads that are going to provide a nice tight, strong grip. This is made from a steel construction with a nice nickel chrome finish that's designed to resist rust and corrosion.
The lock washer and the nut are going to be included. Again, the ball diameter is going to measure 1 7/8". If we take a measurement of the shank length, measuring from the bottom of the platform to the end of the threaded portion, that's going to give us a measurement of 2 3/16" long and it's going to give us a diameter of right at 1". Again, the ball rise is going to be 1" as well, thta's going to this thcik platform portion here. This hitch ball is going to be rated rated with the capacity of 3500 pounds. This portion here is going to go through the ball hole on the ball mount.
You simply place on the lock washer, followed by the nut to get all the way tightened down. Then you will need to torque this to the specifications listed by the manufacturer. Once you have that all set, everything should be ready and ready for use. That's going to do it for today's review of part number C40031. This is the Curt 1 7/8" Hitch Ball. .

Seems to be a decently constructed ball. I havent used it to tow my motorcycle on the trailer yet so hopefully its durable.

Can't beat it for the price, and it's solid and shiny as can be. Only problem is the whole body is all round, with no edges to put a wrench on to tighten the nut down. I got my big pipe wrench on there, and it worked fine, but scuffed up the chrome a little bit.

I haven’t used it. I bought it just-in-case and never needed it. I can say that I bought a standard chrome ball at the same time which lost its chrome and instantly rusted so I appreciate that this is matte rather than polished. I’m also glad this exists because it was the perfect solution to a problem I thought I might have had… I just ended up not having that problem. If you buy one, but from etrailer. No better site on the internet

Dimensions are correct, photo is not. Photo is not a chromed ball; description is correct, it is chrome. After a couple of trips with a 6K# trailer, chrome is still in good condition, no peeling away (I did grease before attaching.). Nut fits a 1-13/16 wrench.

Exactly what I needed for my 4 wheeler to keep the tongue of the trailer from being too low. The price was good and the delivery was quick. The only thing I had to do was to enlarge the hole to fit the one inch shank. Thanks etrailer for having what I needed.

If you just need a 1" rise then you will want part # C40031, but if you need a 2" rise you will want part # C40032 instead. Both are rated for 3,500 lbs
