Needed a hitch ball for my new John Deere 3025E. Needed to tow a 2k GVWR utility trailer for hauling wood etc., with a 1-7/8" coupler. The drawbar is 1-1/4" thick with a 1-1/4" hole for hauling wagons and trailers. I knew finding a 1-7/8" hitch ball with a 1-1/4" shank would be a challenge, but etrailer had in stock. The 2-3/8" shank length worked perfectly, only 3/8" exposed thread below the lock nut which still allows for plenty of ground clearance, necessary for me hauling a trailer on woods trails. Appears to be of high quality, easy install. Very pleased!

I was very happy with my purchase. I was afraid I wouldn't find the right hitch for my gator since all my others were Reese hitches. I found the right one at a good price and I'm happy

by:

product is stamped 6000 lb on top. Do not exceed this limit GVWR. This was the only 1-1/4th inch stem with a 1-7/8th inch ball. Had to get things from diff. sources to get what i needed. I got a class 4 hitch from one place and 17000 lb 2" receiver bar (class 5) from another place. 50dollars now at The Hitch Man to torque 8 hitch bolts and this ball (450 ft-lbs). Shpg these heavy things costs a bit, so about $280 plus 50doll for 7-slot trailer wiring oval plug insert for Chev truck, so $330 total. going to re-do old trailer wiring - need emer. brake sys. 62doll, replace 7-slot trlr side 31doll, 12doll jn box. So this part was a good product in all of above.

Purchased the 2in and 1 7/8 ball to go with pintle hitch, so I can pull different trailers

  • Availablilty of Stainless Steel Pintle Hitch Ball
I am sorry, none of the pintle hitch balls we offer are constructed of stainless steel, they are all chrome plated steel. We do offer some combo kits that offer the pintle, with stainless steel sleeve and interchangeable balls like part # PH2S which would slide into a 2 inch receiver or part # PH4 which can be used in conjunction with the cushioned weight distribution shank, part # AMAC1.

I went and grabbed a Curt Hitch Ball part # C48810 from our warehouse to measure the length of the shank and found it to be 2-3/8 inches long. The diameter of the shank is 1-1/4".

  • 1-7/8 Inch Ball that Will Fit a Ball Mount for a 2-1/2 Inch Hitch
Trailer hitch ball # C48810 has a 1-1/4 inch diameter shank. The ball hole in the ball mount will need to be 1-1/4 inches in diameter for the ball to fit. The 1-1/4 inch size is the common hole diameter for ball mounts that fit 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch receivers so I am confident that this ball will work for you.

  • Compatibility of Pintle Hitch Ball for a Sailboat Trailer Coupler
The Curt # C48810 ball will be a perfect fit for your setup. You are correct that it is recommended to use the right size shank for your ball rather than use a reducer bushing. This ball size will be compatible with your sailboats trailer coupler and will fit your ball mount properly which is great, it's also okay to go under the weight capacity in this case. One thing you may want to check your ball mount for is the shank length needed this ball has a 2-3/8 inch long shank. I have...

The majority of standard hitch balls with a 1-7/8" diameter will have a 2,000-3,500 lb weight capacity. If you need a hitch ball with a 1-7/8" diameter that has a 5,000 lb weight capacity then you will need to use a pintle hitch ball. For this, we have part # C48810 which has a 1-1/4" diameter shank. • How To Obtain a Pintle Hook Ball Combo with 1-7/8 and 2 Inch Hitch Balls
The best option I can offer you would be to obtain the Curt Pintle Hook with 2" Ball part # C48007 and the 1-7/8" Hitch Ball for Curt Pintle Hook Combo part # C48810. The reason for this is that we do not offer a 1-7/8" pintle ball with the exact dimensions that you need nor do I think you will be able to find one as 1-7/8" is a very odd size for a pintle ball.

I can understand the concern with using a ball mount with a drop and a longer shank possibly creating a situation where it's more likely to contact the ground. I'll start by saying that the Curt Multi-Ball # D900 is a fairly standard length when it comes to an adjustable ball mount; there are some that come with a longer shank but the roughly 15" total distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball is fairly standard.
