Today we're going to review part number C60603. This is the Curt one inch high rise ball for Curt double lock flip and store goose neck trailer hitches. Now this ball will provide an additional one inch rise to add clearance for trucks that use plastic or rubber bed liners. This is designed to fit the Curt double lock flip and store goose neck hitches. Right here you can see where the pins go. The double locking pins give you extra security for the trailer ball. The diameter of the ball is your standard goose neck sized two and five sixteenths diameter. It'll couple to most goose neck trailer.
The shank diameter right down here is going to measure right at two and three quarter inches. It has a weight capacity of thirty thousand pounds, and that is stamped on top of the ball. It does have an extra one inch additional rise here to clear those bed liners. Basically if you put a ruler on it. Now the standard ball that comes with that hitch has about a three quarter inch section rise, so this one will have actually one in three quarters in Jiffy Newton measure from here up to here.
It's going to measure one and three quarters, and that's because the standard ball, again has the three quarter inch. This will give you an additional one inch rise to the ball. The ball works great, but I am not able to flip it over so it can sit flush in the bed because there is no groove on the shaft for the upside down position. I am disappointed with that aspect of the design.

My poor rating is all about the product and no reflection on etrailer - As others have commented this hitch ball needs to be made available in Stainless Steel. It has, so far, functioned as advertised and fits my requirements. However, the material and finish are poor. I use this to tow a 2000lb GVWR trailer (Hélio O2). I routinely clean and grease my hitch coupler and this hitch ball. In the short time and relatively few miles I've used this the finish and base material are wearing away rapidly (see attached pictures taken at time of this review).
Also, to be nit-picky: It does not make sense why the 2" Rise (Item # C40034) is priced less than the 1" rise (Item # C40033).
This gave me the added lift I needed so the trailer did not hit the truck bed.
Needed an extended ball mount for my new Jeep in order for the utility trailer tongue to clear the spare tire. Item is exactly as described on site and arrived earlier than expected.

I haven't towed, yet, with this ball, but it looks good. I wish they had provided two flat sides it some point below the ball - makes it easier to tighten the nut.
Excellent tow ball. Solved the problem that the original towing hitch was to low for our tandem boat trailer.
Has been used extensively over the last year towing our boat without any issues.

This is one massive hitch ball. Just one look and you know it is strong. I also love the little extra height. A great fit for my 2 5/16 coupler.
Wanted a HD ball for the car hauler. It’s rated more than my hauler but I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t going to be the weak link. This thing looks strong and rugged. Appears to be milled and should last me forever.
I like the extra meat this ball has. It also enabled me to get the running hieght "just right" for the towing application I use it with.
Perfect fix to a level toe. Couldn’t have been a simpler solution.

Exactly was I was looking for...I am going cross country on a motorcycle trip and I am pulling a trailer for gear and supplies. This riser puts my trailer at level while attached to my bike. Delivered on time, great solid product.
I just opened up my new Class 5 Curt XD hitch and have not yet installed it so my comments are based on first impressions only. It is very heavy duty - and heavy at 40 lbs. - made of extremely thick metal and outfitted with quality Grade 8 bolts with square necks so they won’t turn when torquing on the nuts to attach the main tube to the side mounting plates. My bolts are plated yellow (which I like) rather than silver as you may have seen in some online photographs. It is substantially beefier than my existing Grade 4 hitch and superior in every way. It’s an impressive piece of hardware. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with it on specifications, quality, strength, and general appearance. It’s a beast. What I AM disappointed in is Curt’s packaging and the condition in which the hitch arrived. (This is NOT a reflection on etrailer.com as the hitch arrived in Curt’s original packaging.) The unassembled main tube and the two side mounting plates come bundled together with nothing separating them but shrink wrap. No cardboard, plastic, even paper coming between the metal surfaces - just shrinkwrap probably not even a couple of mils thick. With basically metal-to-metal contact in an oversized-box with the bundle jostling around, it would be a miracle if there were no scratches, gouges, or some type of damage to at least one piece, which is exactly what happened to my hitch. The main hitch tube, on the exterior facing plane, on the driver side where I’ll see it every day, has some gouges on it that go through the powder-coating to bare metal. I can - and will - paint them to prevent rust (and, therefore, have to paint the whole hitch to match). But the gouges will still be noticeable as they go through the thicker, pebbly, powder-coat finish and will undoubtedly still appear as depressions in the surface even once painted. I fully realize this kind of surface damage will almost certainly happen with regular usage of the hitch anyway and that it’s certifiable to demand absolute perfection in anything. But if you are someone who cares about the aesthetics of your equipment and keeping it looking new for as long as possible, it is very disappointing to receive such an expensive and prominent piece of hardware damaged right out of the box and requiring immediate repainting. The plastic parts bag had also ripped open in transit, with nuts, bolts, shims, etc. rattling around in the box. I am dumbfounded that Curt packages such a high-quality piece of equipment so shoddily where such damage is virtually unavoidable. I bought from Curt solely due to their being an American manufacturer and to support American workers so this is doubly discouraging. It’s a trivial complaint in the big scheme of things and not worth demanding a replacement over. Just be aware that unless Curt changes their packaging practices it is very possible you will have the wind taken out of your towing project sails just as I have. Again, this in no way reflects on etrailer. My experience to date with etrailer (website, educational resources, staff reviews, ordering, tracking, email contact, etc.) has been beyond exemplary in every way. They rank as a Top Five online retailer in my opinion, maybe even the best.

This ball is not intended on being flipped over and stored in the hitch as it is a high-rise. This other one can be stored but will not work for you if you need the additional length: item # C60616.
