Note: All RockerBall hitch balls will sit 1-1/2" higher than a standard hitch ball due to their shock absorbing base.

The mounting platform on your ball mount must be at least 3/8" thick and the hole size must not be more than 1/16" larger in diameter than the ball's threaded shank.

Not to be used with a cushioned ball mount.

Towing can be brutal, especially when your setup is outfitted with standard, metal-on-metal components. Steel and aluminum can only absorb so much vibration and chucking, so every time you hit a bump in the road, that shock gets transferred to the rest of your rig, leaving it vulnerable to wear and tear. Another unfortunate side effect is an uncomfortable ride for you and your passengers.

Protect your truck and trailer from road shock, vibrations, and rattling - and stay comfortable while you drive - with the shock-absorbing Curt RockerBall hitch ball.

Shock Absorbing ShockDrop Technology

Curt RockerBall with SockDrop Technology

The RockerBall hitch ball features Curt's innovative ShockDrop technology, which is engineered to suppress vibrations and rattling while you're towing. When you hit a bump, the ball compresses around the flexible, polyurethane core. This durable material absorbs excess shock at the coupling point so that it doesn't transfer from the truck to your trailer or vice versa. The result is increased control and comfort as you tow, as well as less wear and tear on your towing setup.

Premium Construction

Curt RockerBall Construction

This hitch ball is built to last with its forged steel construction and durable powder coat finish. The flexible, shock-absorbing polyurethane core withstands extreme heat for long-lasting performance, and the chrome-plated ball resists corrosion.

Curt RockerBall Zerk Fitting

The built-in zerk allows you to lubricate the isolator core when necessary, ensuring quiet and trouble-free operation.

  • Recommended Ball Mounts For Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing Ball
I may have an option for you but the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball part # C40047 is a 2" ball with a 1" diameter shank so this will not work for your ball mount with a 5/8" hole. If you would like to switch out your ball mount you can use the RockerBall with a ball mount with a 1" diameter I have attached a couple of ball mounts below that will work with the Rockerball since I am not sure how much rise/drop you need in a ball mount. • Why Cant the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing Hitch Ball Be Used With a Weight Distribution System
The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball part # C40047 will not work with a weight distribution system because the flange that gets wedged between the platform and base that stops the unit from rotating will not fit over the shank on a weight distribution system. Therefore, the Curt RockerBall must be used with a standard ball mount like the Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches part # C45310. You are correct the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank - Chrome - 7.5K part # C40047 does have a rise. On a standard hitch ball it sits flush with the ball mount but the RockerBall has the included height of the shock absorber which makes it about 1-1/2" taller than a standard ball. This is important when choosing a ball mount. You want to choose a ball mount that has an additional 2" of drop if your ball mount is in the drop position. For example if your...

The Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing part # C40047 only comes in a 2" ball at this time. You may consider using a ball mount like part # AMSC2HD that has a shock absorbing core with a 2-5/16" ball. The ball hole diameter is 1-1/4". • Does Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2 Inch Hitch Ball Fit Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount
Yes, the RockerBall and channel style ball mount you asked about are absolutely compatible: - Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing 2" Hitch Ball # C40047 - Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45901 The reason is, the ball mount accepts a hitch ball with a shank that has a 1" diameter and is at least 2-1/8" long, which is exactly the shank dimensions of the RockerBall. Going with the # C40047 Curt Rocker Ball will help isolate some of the clattering and banging from the surge coupler, and it will also help dampen some of the road shock you experience. What it won't do is help with the movement of the ball mount in the receiver which is pretty unavoidable.
