Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at this Curt half-inch base rail locking pin for 5th wheel trailer hitches. Now this is a bent pin-style lock which will secure your 5th wheel trailer hitch to your standard base rails in your truck bed, and basically you'll use this in place of the normal pinning clip on one of your hitch legs or one of the tabs on your 5th-wheel slider. The top-mounted lock cylinder here, it's easy to access and operates just with an eighth of a turn. Turn the key and eighth of a turn and it'll unlock it. Then you don't need the key in it to lock it back. You can just push it on and it'll lock into place.Has an extra-long steel pin which is very strong and durable.
The housing on this is an aluminum housing, has a nice black powder coat finish to resist corrosion. And if you notice right down here, it conceals part of the pin to prevent any theft. Does have this weather-resistant dust cover over, keeps the lock cylinder free from water and debris, and it does come with the two keys.A few specs on this. The usable length, which would be the measurement from where it bends here to the very lock itself, you'll be looking right about 2-3/4 inches for the usable length, and the pin diameter is a half inch in diameter. So what I just want to show you now, here's your normal pinning clip.
So when your 5th wheel or your slider goes down onto your hole, drops in there, tab drops in there, then you usually just put your pin and clip over there like that, and that holds it into place. So if you want to give extra security, just remove the pinning clip, take your Curt lock right here, pop open the cover, go ahead and put your key in there, turn an eighth of a tun to unlock it, and then this time just put your pin all the way through and again, take your key out. You don't need to have the key in there, and then just line the hole up. Push it in, and right there you can see it'll lock that pin into place, and then your 5th wheel will be up here and nobody can access that. And then to unlock it, just put your key in there, turn it the eighth of a turn, then remove the pin. Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the Curt half inch base rail locking pin for 5th wheel trailer hitches..

Steel pin with powder coated aluminum housing. Includes 2 keys.I used this on my super glide 5th wheel hitch. My truck didn’t have the puck system so I had to install rails for my hitch. There was not enough room to put the lock on the rear two holes so I put it on the front pin. Works just fine and easy to insert key when un-locking.
with the curt crossing 5th wheel hitch so light and easy to remove I decided that this is a must for security of my hitch.
Too bad 1 star is as low as you can go. Used 1 time, and now it won’t unlock!! It’s useless! Do t buy this product!

I hate to hear that the lock is not working for you. Has the lock been in place for a long time? I reached out to Curt and they gave the advice to soak the lock cylinder and inside the key hole with PB blaster, then slowly work the key in an out then back and forth. The lock likely has build up from weather and road grime.
Awesome product way better then I imagi ned!
As a devoted Curt hitch customer who pretty much keeps my 5th wheel hitch mounted on the rails, having this lock will provide a little more piece of mind that the hitch will stay in the truck. PS., my local Curt dealer stocked these lock but at a much higher price.
Had a great experience with this product! I placed my order and received the lock in a timely manner and I in
stalled it in a matter of minutes and works perfectly!
I'm very HAPPY so far with the results and now I dont have to worry about my hitch getting stolen or Tampered with! Thank you so much ! I will be a repeat customer for sure if the need ever arises !
