Video Transcript for Review of Flint Hill Goods - Locking Hitch Pin - FHG63VR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff Fitty at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Flint hill goods locking hitch pin for two inch and two and a half inch hitches. Now this is a padlock style hitch lock, it's used to place in place of your standard pin in clip. And this is to help prevent theft of your ball mount or hitch mounted accessory. As we mentioned, it is designed to work on two inch and two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. And this lock has this five, eight inch diameter pin and it's perfect for keeping any hitch, accessory or ball mount lock security to your hitch.

You can see it does include the two keys here. So all of you have to do to put your key in there just turn it. And it'll release that from the end there. And you can slide this pin through the accessory or ball mount, and you don't even need the key in the lock portion, once you get it all the way through, just push it and that locks it into place. It is a nice chrome plated steel construction.

It's very durable en corrosion resistant. If you notice it does include this weather resistant PVC dust cap, which will keep the lock cylinder free from any water or debris, when it's all locked. Just put that over that and it'll protect it. Did mention the two keys are included. This will allow you to secure your ball mount, your bike rack, your cargo carrier, and other accessories to your trailer hitch.

Now, I did want to demonstrate How this works. I happened to pull a example of a two inch hitch receiver, and you can see the ball mount attached with the normal pinning clip that somebody can just come along and pull the clip, pull the pin, and then slide the ball mount out. So what's nice about this on your lock here. What you can do is go ahead and unlock it. Just like that, slide your pin, the same position your other pin was in.

And again, you don't need the key in it, just push the block portioning on and just like that. You'll be able to see that it's locked in place and then nobody will be able to remove the pin and take out your accessory or your ball mount. And then again, just put your cap over there and you're all ready to go. And then when you, when you're ready to remove it just go ahead and put your key in there, twist it slide out the lock, slide out the pen. You're all ready to go. Simple as that. Now again, the application is two inch by two inch or two and a half inch by two and a half inch trailer hitch receivers. This is a five eight inch diameter pin and I do want to give you the inside span. Once your locks installed, that inside span is gonna be the distance from here to where the curve starts. So if we put a ruler on that That inside span is gonna measure about three and a half inches And put our cap back on. But that should do it for the review on this Flint hill goods locking hitch pin for the two inch and two and a half inch hitches..

Good quality fast ship just what I was looking for.

Great locks-you unlock with two hands thou-you have to hold black part of lock and turn the key to remove spindle-very nice--CON-it has nice tight key lock area cover but they are NOT attached to the lock with a lanyard thus allowing you to misplace to key cover

We do have some options of hitch locks that will fit your application, yet has a cover attached to the lock. An example would be the link below for part # e98881.

  • Is There a Locking Hitch Pin That Uses Key For 2015 Honda Pilot?
I have a locking hitch pin recommendation, but even though there is a company named Bolt that makes locks that a vehicle key can be used to lock and unlock, but they don't make one compatible with the key for your 2015 Honda Pilot. You'll need to use a traditional style lock like the # FHG63VR which includes it's own key instead.

  • Does etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve e28JR Include A Locking Pin?
The etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # e28JR does not include a locking hitch pin. I recommend the Flint Hill Goods Locking Hitch Pin for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches # FHG63VR, which just so happens to be the locking pin in the picture you referenced. This is a chrome plated steel locking pin which will work perfectly to keep hitch accessories secured to your hitch. A dust cap and two keys are included.

In order to extend your hitch on your 2015 Toyota Tundra, I recommend looking into a longer shank for your weight distribution system, as this will be your only safe option. To ensure that this will work for you, you will want to measure 14" from your hitch pin hole and determine if that will be long enough...

  • How To Extend Weight Distribution Hitch On 2015 Toyota Tundra
In order to extend your hitch on your 2015 Toyota Tundra, I recommend looking into a hitch extender or a longer shank for your weight distribution system. The # HE12 is a hitch extender that fits 2" receiver. It is 9-1/2" long between the hitch pin hole and ball mount. This has a max weight capacity of 7,000lbs and tongue weight of 700lbs when used in combination with a weight distribution system. The main drawback with this is that it will reduce your towing capacity by 1/3. For example,...
