Powder coat finish resists rust.I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab, 2WD, 4.7L V8, with the Big Horn Package.This is a good hitch. I didn't need this much of a hitch. I only needed a 600 lb. tongue weight hitch but I figured better safe than sorry. It was the most hitch for the money and now I don't have to change the hitch if I get a bigger camper. I will never need a hitch with this kind of capacity. The install was very easy with one exception... There was no frame drilling required, but there were two steel dowels welded to the frame that supported a tail-pipe hanger and one got in the way and had to be removed. I was hesitant to do this, but the exhaust is still remarkably stable even with one of the supports cut-off. This hitch seems like the most hitch for your money and I know that the hitch will handle more than my truck is rated for so there is no worrying if my hitch will hold up.

I ordered this hitch for a couple of reasons. First it had to be bolted together (as opposed to one completely welded unit) in three pieces so I thought it was something a senior citizen could handle unassisted. Indeed that turned out to be the case.
Second I liked the option of being able to flip the cross bar to accommodate a factory hitch or not. Since my truck ('05 RAM 1500, Quad cab) had a factory hitch, there was some question about which to order to allow the new receiver to be as close to the bumper as possible. As it turned out, mine was the factory bolt on receiver so the "without" would have worked (I was able to unbolt it and set it aside). This one hitch fit either truck, with/without the factory hitch so I didn't have to worry about ordering the wrong one and then shipping it back.
And lastly, this is a heavy duty hitch, rated to pull about 16,000 lbs. It fit neatly under the truck and allowed the under-body spare tire to be stowed after installation. It is a snug fit but no modifications were necessary.
I do have a couple of suggestions for future DIY'ers. First don't snug any of the bolts until all the hardware is installed. I had snugged (not torqued) the wings and then realized that a trim piece had to be removed to install bolts to the side of the wings. Second, after all the hardware is installed but not tightened, return the under-body spare tire to it's position. There is a little wiggle room and now's the time to find out if it's needed before tightening and torquing the bolts.

It has done everything perfectly. I couldnt be happier.
It went on easy , and works very good. I'm happy,I put it on because I have a 3 foot extention on to,clear the back of my,11.5 camper so,I can tow my boat.

It works very good Ive had no problems since it was installed
I have a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. I had one issue while installing...there are two exhaust support bars that welded to the frame and one is in the way of the side plate. I just cut the inside bar and the install was very simple install afterwards. There are no exhaust issues with cutting the one bar. The hitch is a little heavy so if you can get assistance, that will help but not needed.

Very nice hitch, looks like it will do exactly what I need it to. Very easy to install, took about 2 hours by myself. Instructions were spot on.
The only thing I can say is I wish they would have included 4 of the fish wires, would have made it just a little easier to install all the bolts onto the frame. But besides that, everything was included.
This hitch is first class. As a contractor, I have owned many hitch receivers over the years. Fit my 2007 Big Horn Ram perfectly. This is precision crafted. I had it on in less than an hour.

Very nice hitch. Took me about 3 hours to remove factory hitch and install this one. No drilling but did have to cut off one tail pipe support hanger.
