Bought this for my 2016 BMW X5. Exceptionally low price for the quality of the product. Fitment was excellent and the hitch sits up high and close to the bumper cover but remains easy to access. Value was a 10/10.

by:

Easy to install on the BMW X6 M F86. I had it for over a year and it is holding great. I use it to pull my 6x10 trailer

by:

The Hitch assembly is SOLID! Perfect fit for a F15 BMW X5. Self installed followed the Etrailer video which greatly assisted with the installation. However, definitely requires moderate experience, removal of the rear bumper required patience due to all the clips and securement. It is recommended to use a plastic molding removal tool set to carefully remove bumper as not to damage paint and trimmings.

by:
2013 BMW X5

It took a while to receive the hitch due to COVID-19 but finally arrived. I used the installation video from the website and it was the same car as mine. Removing the bumper I took my time and followed step by step on the video. I tend to brake stuff when I rush. Installing the hitch was easy. I made the cut on the bumper 2.5” instead of 2.25” as stated because it was sitting better and less pressure on the bumper. Reinstalling the bumper was just the reverse of taking it off. I really appreciate the included push pins for the flares vs rivets. I had actually gone out to purchase a rivet gun but didn’t need to use it. The whole process took about 2 hrs.

by:

Excellent product, fit perfect and great instructional video. Only improvement would be if you included 6 rivets instead of 4, since it really helps the install to take out 3 rivets on each wheel well.

by:

The Curt 13077 hitch feels really heavy-duty, thick metal, very sturdy, and Made in the USA. The item shipped in good packaging and arrived without a scratch. The installation instructions made available by the etrailer crews on YouTube are excellent (these videos actually is the reason I bought from etrailer instead of other places),The Curt product and etrailer are both deserved all stars!!!

by:
2018 BMW X5

God product from Curt, and etrailer did a phenomenal job on the installation video. The paper instructions enclosed from Curt were not even worth it. I would suggest instead of trying to drill out the blank rivets with tires on, just snipping them off. Took a few hours with one person, but just take your time as not to snap something. Would recommend buying etrailer!

by:
2016 BMW X5

Superb first time experience. I was going to buy on another online retailer But it was about 5$ more. Then When I read Reviews, negative about the way it was shipped. Not here with etrailer, see photos. Great packaging and not a scratch! After the detailed video of how to install, plus written and PDF, I had to purchase from here. I also, picked up the ball and receiver package. Lowest price and awesome quality. I will not hesitate to buy from here for any future accessories needed. Bike carry back on the vehicle and off we will go to bike the trails now! Super thanks etrailer.com.

Let me start by saying that etrailer.com represents a masterclass in customer service. They have a complete package from a user friendly and ACTUALLY informative website, backed by competent ACTUAL people who communicate well AND know their products with a level of passion that makes them ACTUALLY helpful. I know, right? If every company was like these guys, could you imagine how much global stress would be reduced??!!? Anyway, onto the product, The Curt Trailer Hitch installed and operated EXACTLY as described on the website, and on the installation video on the etrailer.com. Only time will tell whether the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver lasts, but I'm gambling that if the product is backed by a company like etrailer.com, then it's probably going to be a reliable product.

The product continues to be fabulous! Sadly, I had to sell the 2012 X5. Hope the next owner gets to enjoy the trailer hitch! Its legit.

by:

I read the E70 M Sport would not accept a hitch without major surgery to the skirts, and saw some real butcher jobs. Well, I needed a hitch so I ordered this Curt. Very time consuming installation, but not difficult. Minimal cutting required and a very neat install.
Recommended A-1!

BMW X5

Product is exactly as advertised. Fits perfectly on my 2018 BMW X5. It took my dad and I a little less than 3 hours to install it. Bike rack fit perfectly in the hitch. A++

by:
2018 BMW X5

Video instructions are top notch and easy to follow! Hitch fit perfect just as advertised. One person installation in just under two hours. It did require purchase of two additional push pins as 6 were required and only four provided. Certainly recommend

by:

The hitch is so quality , my husband installed it and it looks great. It took longer then he wanted it to because the BMW X5 isn’t an easy vehicle. We like the hitch very much.

by:
2007 BMW X5

This is absolutely best hitch on market, 100% safe and fits just like OEM. Thanks to videos and instructions I was able to install myself in less then an hour.

by:
2016 BMW X5

Great product , I installed it without any issues, videos displayed on etrailer website are superb and exact. I got the product fast, only observation would be to check packing, when I got it delivered the cardboard box was all ripped , fortunately product was intact. I recommend this product for sure.

by:

Fairly straight forward installation, the hardest part is removing the bumper cover. And it wasn't hard as much as it was kinda scary as you have to be rough to get it off, but you soon as you get pass the fear of damaging anything, its a breeze. I looks like it belongs. If I have one gripe, the nuts included in the kit are a gold color and they standout if you look through the cracks. (Probably my OCD)

The hitch is performing as advertised, I’m not sure if its an option, but some rubber isolating washers would be a big help. When carrying an empty trailer, it can be unexpectedly loud, things quite down once loaded.

Hmm that is strange.. the hitch shouldn't be making any noise if the hardware is properly torqued down to spec. More than likely you are hearing your empty trailer bouncing around back there. If you are experiencing a lot of sway when unloaded you may consider getting a friction control arm like part # 17200. Otherwise, a little bounce and noise is to expected with an empty trailer.

It is the empty trailer, but an empty trailer on an American SUV, is Isolated, think its rubber washers of some type

Perfect Fit, and 10 times better looking than OEM hitch. Had to cut small slot in bumper (per instructions) but essentially invisible.

BMW X5

This kit was great and functions exactly as intended. With the help of the online video it was easy to install, even for people without any electrical knowledge.

My only advice is:
1) watch the video and the hitch installation video at the same time. This will help you plan ahead and not re-install parts during the hitch installation, that will need to be removed for the harness installation
2) be VERY careful about selecting the right wires, by using the testing tool eTrailer provides. In the install video for my BMW X5, the technician referenced a yellow and black wire when making the initial connection. He later goes on to make a separate connection for a black and yellow wire. To the novice they look nearly identical. I confused the two wires and had to re-do this, but would not have been an issue if I had understood the distinction and used the testing tool, as recommended in the instructions
3) be careful about placing all connectors so that they face in the same direction. Does not impact function, but makes for a neater install when complete.

I could not be happier about how this project turned out, and credit etrailer with all of the success. It has a very OEM look, and etrailer made the entire project doable for me through their great suite of videos and excellent Customer service. I wish every retailer could be this good!

2018 BMW X5

This is my 3rd Curt hitch install on a BMW X. Generally easy installation. Take your time. If you don't have trim tools, buy a quality set. Watch the excellent video and pay attention to the little things like how you can suspend the tailgate half-open (I used a bungee, they used a ratchet strap). Read the instructions...the order of the steps is slightly different...good perspective). Drill the third rivet in each wheel well (requires picking up some extra plastic rivets (BMW 51777171004). No fascia trim required on my '18 X5 50i MSport.

Still a great hitch. Ive used it to tow my boat and to hold a bike rack. Life is good!

2015 BMW X5

Just finished the install of the trailer hitch on my 2015 X5. Ordering was east, delivery was fast, and the included written directions and the available installation video was excellent. It took a couple of hours to install and the best news is that I didn’t have to modify or cut any part of the rear bumper at all. The hitch looks like it came with the car!

by:
2009 BMW X5

A very robust and well built hitch, easy to install and for the most part straight forward. My only issue was the box was completely destroyed upon delivery (hitch was hanging out and hardware exposed) and I feared the $180 harness I purchased along with it were long gone along with the hardware to install it. Lucky it was all in the box but I am sure it had fallen out several times in route as the box was about 40% missing.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2014 BMW X5 35i Which Does Not Require Removal Of Impact Structure
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75600 is going to be our closest receiver which meets your requirements on your 2014 BMW X5 35i. The Curt # 13077, Draw-Tite # DT36GR (76903), and EcoHitch # EH44FR (X7403) all require the removal of the impact structure which you do not want to remove. The Draw-Tite # 75600 does not require removal of the impact structure but still will require trimming of the rear fascia as all the receivers for your X5. I recommend installing the Curt...

While a class IV is rated higher there is not a specific number that a receiver must have to be a class IV. You do often see receivers which will say class III/IV since they fall into this similar style weight rating where some manufactures will consider it class III while another will rate it as a class...

  • What Trailer Hitch Will Fit The 2017 BMW X5 With M Sport Package?
Hello Kevin, thanks for reaching out. As far as the 2017 BMW X5, fitment really depends on what hitch you are looking at. For example, the Curt Class 3 Hitch # 13077 fill fit both the M models and non-M models. So in other words, it fits all models of the 2017 X5. Then on the other hand we have the Draw-Tite # 75600 you were looking at. This will NOT fit models with the M Sport package. It is for non-M models only.
