Fit perfectly. Very easy to install. I've had both Reese and curt tow hitches. Curt has been a much better fit.

by:

Replaced the rusty stock receiver on my 2002 Tahoe with this part. Perfect fit and WAY more solid. Had to relocate 7-pin electrical plug by drilling a hole though bumper, but this is where it should have been located in the first place by GM. Highly recommended to renew an older vehicle’s tow capability.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Suburban

This hitch bolted on in the exact location of my original oem hitch on my 2001 Suburban. Everything lined up nicely. I use it to pull our boat around to tournaments and we pull our mower trailer daily. It’s a good solid hitch. Highly recommend to anyone thinking about adding or replacing their trailer hitch.

Comments
Rock solid with no issues at all. The hitch will probably outlive my old Suburban.

2002 Chevrolet Avalanche

Transaction was excellent from order to delivery. Hitch fit and finish was great too. Problem came in when I had to mount the 7 pin connector. I called support to ask if drilling and tapping 2 holes for 10-32 screws in the Hitch tube would compromise the warranty and was informed it would. Ok. How about if i weld it on like the OE? Same answer. As this is a 2002 Avalanche, and the Hitch Is application specific, I'm sure Kurt realizes it has a cladded rear bumper. And they didn't have a suggestion on an alternative except a strap on. So, I ordered the long one. And had to modify it to fit the cladding. In hind sight, I probably should have just drilled it. This could have been a 5 star review but...

2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Looks great. Very easy install!

by:
Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Hitch construction is top notch. The problem with this design is that the frame on the 1500 suburban is the weak link and this hitch has a small mounting footprint at the weakest spot of the frame.

We tow a small Jayco Octane 161 toy hauler. Total loaded trailer weight is around 6,700lbs with 1,100lbs tongue weight. Weight distribution hitch is a blue ox sway pro with the 1,500lb bars.

Even with weight distribution engaged, the frame flexes about 1/4" down and pulls away from the body mount pucks—actually leaves a gap between the body and mounting pucks.

I would recommend looking at a receiver that does more to reinforce the frame with a longer mounting surface.

All in all, a world of difference from the oem hitch.

by:

The locking pin hole was too close to the safety chain holes

by: 10/07/2022

The hitch fits perfectly to my Chevy Tahoe.
Quality
equipment at a very affordable price!!

by:
2002 Chevrolet Tahoe

Hitch was easy to install. I took more time using looking for my tools than actually installing. Used the plug bracket as a template and cut hole in bumper to mount the plug receptacle. Now it looks like it came from manufacturer and it doesn’t hang low under bumper/hitch.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Hitch fit vehicle perfectly, 30 minutes to install hitch.
Seven pin adapter worked perfectly. Bracket interference with hitch frame. Drilled hole into bumper and mounted seven pin receptacle in bumper.

by:
2001 Chevrolet Tahoe

Fast delivery, great communication, and perfect fit for hitch, brake controller, and adapters to avoid any wire splicing!

by:

Took me longer to find a bolt that rolled underneath my jack total time by myself 20 minutes excellent excellent product

by:

Great value, very easy to install. Replaced a horrible quality hitch.

by:

The hitch assembly installed easily once I found a breaker bar large enough to remove the OEM hitch. We towed my 6500 LB boat and our 2700 LB travel trailer with ease.
Be advised that the hitch receiver is at a different height than the OEM hitch, so I had to change the ball mounts to maintain the trailers at a level position when towing.

by:
Chevrolet Suburban

Heavy Duty! Perfect fitment!
OEM was
Class III, this is Class IV.
OEM one had thin cheap paint, this has fairly thick paint.
This does mount flush the the bumper unlike the low hanging OEM hitch which I like, but you will need a drop hitch(2.5" higher over OEM)
The chain rings are a little high and you have to bend over but I'd rather have that than the lower clearance OEM one.
I did have to loosen up the spare tire on my Yukon in order to mount this. I had to push the spare forward about 1" and re-tighten it up. The OEM hitch bows outward where this is straight across. Not a big deal at all but I thought I'd mention it. The XL or Suburban models are not issue as the spare is further forward already.

2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Very pleased with the hitch as received: very rugged design and construction with a good application of paint. As advertised it did go onto the truck easily in less than an hour - all bolt holes lined up just fine. I've towed a 4,500 boat/trailer and a 7,000 camper with load equalizing hitch with satisfactory results - solid connection with no evidence of bending anything. Thanks for the good product.

I am satisfied with my purchase of this trailer hitch. It looks great and has held up. I live in MI and after a year of use..the powder coating on this looks amazing. Etrailer has amazing customer service which made this purchase even better!!

by:

The CURT hitch arrived with the shipping box in good condition but the hitch itself had it's paint scuffed and chipped. Since the shipping box was fine, the damage must have happened when eTrailer boxed it. I had a deadline to install the new hitch so I did not return hitch for a replacement. The build quality from CURT was fine. Maybe even better then the original factory hitch.

2001 Ram 2500

This product was purchased for a 2001 Suburban 2500. It is very well constructed and heavy duty. The installation was simple and required no drilling. The only issue I had was the 2 bolts that attach to the bottom of the bumper. When the hitch was bolted to the frame, there was a 1/4” gap between the hitch and the bottom of the bumper. I had to use flat washers on the bolts to fill the gap so the bumper bolts could be tightened securely. That was a minor issue and the hitch is performing very well.

2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

I purchased this item originally from another online retailer (the big one). It arrived damaged in a damaged box. It was bent, quite noticeably. I returned it, and the replacement arrived in similar condition. Unusable. I asked for a refund and ordered the hitch from etrailer. The item arrived in great condition and I have successfully installed it on my truck. It is exactly what I needed, an upgrade from the OEM receiver on my 2011 Avalanche. Heavy duty, with all the hardware and torque specs. I should have come to etrailer first. Next time, I will. Thanks!

Honda Element

Purchased to replace rusted, bent stock GM hitch. This one was significantly heavier and made of thicker steel, and doesn't have the tube ends open to the element. The stock hitch cross tube ends are open, and a pile of rust fell out upon removal. Installation was straightforward, but be aware that the stock hitch has the wire connector bracket welded to it so you'll need to make other arrangements. Fortunately(!) mine had already rusted off so I was able to transfer it to the new hitch and secure it with hose clamps.

by:

I've had this hitch for one year and so far so good! I've pulled utility trailers and a 26' camper. My mechanic recommend a welded frame hitch vs a hitch kit due to our Michigan winter's. I'm happy.

by:
2002 GMC Yukon XL

Excellent fitment and quality! Looks so much better than my OEM hitch and able to carry lots more. Took longer to remove my old hitch than to install the replacement. Two thumbs up and they also price matched that big box online store that's named after the river and shipping was free.

by:

I am very satisfied with my product (curt) trailer hitch. I'm even more impressed with etrailer customer service. The customer representative was very knowledgeable about my vehicle application. She made useful suggestions and made sure the product was shipped to me in a timely manner.

I will use etrailer for all my future purchases.

Great product and excellent customer service.

Thanks,
Michael

The Carriage bolts and nuts are going to be 1/2" diameter while the bolts that thread into the weld nuts on the frame and bumper are going to be your 14mm fasteners. • Comparison Of Trailer Hitches For 2002 Chevrolet Suburban
Both of the trailer hitches you mentioned are a great fit for your 2002 Chevrolet Suburban. The Curt Hitch, part # 14080 is a Class lV hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. The Draw-Tite hitch, part # 41930 is a Class V hitch and it also has a 2-inch receiver opening. Both hitches have identical towing capacity and weight distribution capacity. If it makes a difference to you, the Curt hitch is manufactured in the USA. If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested...

Curt does not offer a Class V hitch for the 2002 model, but there is a Class IV, part # 14080. The Class IV hitch has a 10000 lb towing/ 1000 lb tongue weight capacity or 12000 lb towing/ 1200 lb tongue weight capacity when used with a weight distribution system. • Can a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Tow a 5th Wheel or Gooseneck Trailer
I do have options for you to tow a heavy trailer with your 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 but a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer would be off limits. The reason for this is not so much as the weight of the trailer is more than the vehicle can handle though it would be a stretch but more so that the configuration of the truck bed does not allow for turning clearance. The Chevrolet Avalanche only has a 5' bed and the bed rails further limit turning clearance therefore you would most likely be...

I also recommend verifying the towing capacity of the Tahoe itself. I looked at an online copy of the owner's manual and on page 4-59 it starts to list the capacities. • Best Trailer Hitch Fit for 2002 GMC Yukon
The DrawTite # 75725 and the Reese Tow Power 44668 you mentioned are actually the exact same hitch as shown in the snip of the installation instructions I attached. That being said, the # 75725 (or 44668) will not fit models with an EPA canister mounted on the passenger side of the frame rail. So, that is true for your Yukon, you need to go with the Curt # C13402 (600 lbs TW/6,000 lbs Towing) or # 14080 (1,000 lbs TW/10,000 lbs Towing) which install/fit exactly the same as the other two.
