My receiver was bent during the shipping process, thanks for not packaging it up properly. Who’s ever in charge of the packing department shouldn’t have this responsibility, maybe MacDonalds Hamburger might have an opening in there restaurant for that individual. I’m extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with your product so I’ll let people know on [social media] about this situation. P.S. had a (hellof) a time putting it on.

If you are having troubles with the holes not lining up, it could be that the hitch has been flexed during shipment. This is common amongst hitches, since the mounting brackets are made from a mild steel that allows the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. If the entire hitch was made of rigid steel, there would be a greater chance of the hitch being damaged and experiencing stress cracks. Such cracks could cause the hitch to malfunction. This flexing often times will cause the holes not to align. Because of this we do have a help article I have the link attached below that will walk you through the process of straightening the hitch.

1999 Ford Ranger

Installed C12012 on a 1999 Ford Ranger Step side 2 door XLT with 2.5l engine. Removing the two bolts closest to the bumper proved to be the biggest challenge. But after they were removed the hitch fit perfectly. The frame already had holes in it for the two forward bolts. So, no drilling required.
Turned out I did need to order a 1-1/4 inch Curt 45028 ball mount with a 6" drop down to connect with my small trailer. The hitch is about 4" lower than the bumper ball mount location, but that was not low enough. )

All the products I ordered were delivered in just 4 days, nicely packed with no damage. The hitch it self looked nice with a little heat distortion on the frame mounting flanges causing the install just slightly difficult. But being an Ironworker it was off to the work truck and the problem was solved with the use of a spud wrench. Total install time under 30 minutes and it looks great.

1996 Ford Ranger

Straightforward installation and perfect fit on a 96 Ford Ranger. On such an old truck I expected some fitment issues but all went well.

by:
2002 Ford Flex

Appears to be of good construction, but I had to flex the mounts a TON to get it to fit on my 02 Ranger. Now that it's on, seems to be a solid fit.

  • Spare Tire Bracket Relocation for Curt Class II Recevier on 2001 Ford Ranger
According to Curt Manufacturing, installing the Class II Receiver Hitch, part # 12012 will NOT require relocation of the spare tire bracket. Although not expressly mentioned in the instructions, temporarily lowering the spare tire can make the install a bit easier by providing easier access to the rear frame members that the hitch is attached to. Might I make a suggestion? The Curt Class III Receiver, part # 13138 is actually a bit less expensive, has a higher tow and tongue weight rating...

  • Fit of Curt Class II Hitch on 2004 Ranger XLT with Flare Sided Bed
The Curt Class II Trailer Hitch, part # 12012 mounts to the frame members under the rear of the bed. The frame members would be the same for that model year, regardless of the bed. You should have no fit issues with this hitch. Keep in mind that Curt does say to use a stabilizing strap # 18050 when using this hitch to carry non-trailer loads in order to comply with the warranty. Although the Curt is a great hitch, I recommend that my customers go with the Class III hitch when the option...

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12012 Fit a 1999 Ford Ranger Stepside
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12012 is confirmed to fit all models of the 1999 Ford Ranger. A stepside typically just changes the construction of the truck bed and not the frame itself which is where the trailer hitch would be mounted to. Please note that all non-trailer loads (like a bike rack or cargo carrier) will require the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 to stay within the warranty of Curt. Let me know what you will be using the trailer hitch for and I can make...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit for 2000 Ford Ranger
For a Class II receiver for your 2000 Ford Ranger, the CURT Class II Receiver, part # C12012 will fit your truck and work well for you. If you would prefer the greater flexibility offered by a Class III receiver, our most popular hitch among 2000 Ranger owners is the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver # 13138. To view install details for the hitches I have recommended, click on the provided links.

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2007 Ford Ranger
Drilling is required to install Curt Class II trailer hitch # C12012 on your 2007 Ford Ranger. The instructions state that relocation of the spare tire bracket is not required but does not mention anything about the hitch interfering with the spare. We haven't had complaints about it so unless the spare tire is larger than the stock ones that could be on the truck you won't have an issue. All of the available trailer hitches for your truck will involve drilling. If you go with the Curt...

  • Recommendation for Getting Additional Trailer Jack Ground Clearance for a 2013 Hyundai Elantra
The only time you would want to raise the nose of a trailer would be if the trailer wasn't sitting completely level when hitched up. The solution for this would be to get a different rise/drop ball mount. However, with a Class I hitch like what you have on your 2013 Hyundai Elantra you can only use the recommended ball mount for the hitch being used. A better solution for you might be to go with a different trailer jack that doesn't require as much ground clearance. If you have an A-frame...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for 2011 Cadillac CTS
The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2011 Cadillac CTS is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11196 for coupe or part # C11307 for sedan models. These will both work great with a hitch mounted bike rack. The bike rack however will need to have a 1-1/4" shank and be class I rated. I recommend the Thule Roadway 4 Bike Rack part # TH934XTR for this. It has anti sway cradles and an anti-rattle hitch pin for added security. Even though it is a 4-bike rack, you will only be able to carry TWO...

  • Custom Fit Class 2 Hitch for a 2008 Mazda B2300
I have a custom hitch for your Mazda B2300 truck but the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C12923 will not fit. The bolt hole spacing is off. Instead, you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver item # C12012. This hitch also has a 1-1/4" class II receiver. The Curt Hitch item # C12012 is custom fit and attaches to your Mazda with included hardware. It will not require drilling. This hitch has a 350 lbs tongue weight and a 3,500 lbs towing capacity. If you plan on doing any towing...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 1996 Ford Ranger
The hitch part # E-3S that you referenced would not bolt up the bottom of the Westin Bumper part # 66000-97200 without a lot of modification that I can't recommend. Instead I have a much better option for you for a hitch for your 1996 Ford Ranger. You would want the Curt hitch part # C12012 that will attach directly to the frame of your truck and would be a much better hitch setup. If you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with...
