I bought a Curt trailer hitch from etrailer about 7 years ago. I just bought another one from them. When I need a new one, I'll order it from etrailer also. Excellent packaging BTW. No plastic or foam.

I frequently tow a utility trailer. The hitch is rock solid.

2009 Scion xB

I have a 2009 Scion XB with TRD exhaust. I didn't have any clearance issues around the muffler. The hitch is a high quality part. Without the bike rack in the receiver the hitch is almost invisible.
I'm very happy with this Curt hitch as well as the service from the guys at etrailer. Next project will be to install the lighting/wiring kit also sold by etrailer.

by:
2011 Scion xB

I installed this a year ago. I use it for my boat and bike rack. Works perfect, never any issues. Super easy install. If you can fit under your car and know how to screw in a light bulb, you can attached this with ease.

by:

The hitch looks good. I received just what I ordered and it came very quick. Thank you E-Trailer.

Comments
1 year on and my hitch is as good as new. Hung a motorcycle carrier on it and made it out and back without issue. The hitch is obviously good quality and was made to fit my vehicle perfectly. It was a great purchase.

Needed a hitch for our 2015 Scion XB. Wiring kit was perfect but a problem with included bolts resolved by using 12MM bolts from a BMW?

by:
2013 Scion xB

I am putting this on a second Scion XB. Your quality is outstanding in workmanship. Providing mounting bolts is a real plus. This is the perfect
fit for my new Harmar AL015 Mini Scooter Lift and Swing Away and gets the
lift as close as possible to the rear of the SCION XB.

Excellent quality, easy to install !!

by:
2012 Scion xB

It fit like a glove! Lined right up and came with the hardware need to install it. Fit and finish was great as well. I've had good luck with Curt products in the past and they didn't disappoint this time either and etrailer had a good price on it and good information about installation which is why I keep coming back.

2012 Scion xB

Bought May 2021. Worked as designed. I installed in a 2012 Scion xB. I sold the car a few months later so I can't give you long-term review, but I never had an issue while towing.

by:

Arrived quick, couple of tears on box but did not affect product. All hardware and and clear instructions were included. Fit perfect.

by:

Perfect fit, super easy bolt on application. This is exactly as advertised and will reccomend etrailer.com in the future

by:

Best price perfect fit and it looks good. My brother says it was an easy install!! Thank you!!

Ordering from website was easy. Delivery was quick. Hardest part was finding a good installer. Next purchase will be a bike rack.

by:
2008 Scion xB

Fits perfectly! My bike rack works gre at.

by:
Scion xB

This hitch was easy to install, still looks AWESOME on my xB with only the receiver visible, and has been exactly what I hoped for to carry my Kuat Sherpa bike rack. And etrailer is the place I'll get any other hitches I'll need going forward. Thanks!

Comments
Hitch has carried two bikes all over the country, 17 states to be exact. Best looking option out there for the xB. And etrailer folks are the best. Recently got a similar style hitch for another vehicle I own and etrailer came thru flying colors again.

2012 Scion xB

Product arrived as promised. I liked the fact that I could keep track of where it was in the shipping process and approximately when it would be delivered. Installed it the same day it arrived with the assistance of the excellent videos of installation procedures for both the hitch and wiring. It helps to have a torque wrench and some basic wiring tools (wire end stripper and a crimping tool).
The only problem is that the hole on the retaining pin for the draw bar does NOT fit as the hole in the pin was drilled in the wrong place.

Comments
In my review I said The only problem is that the hole on the retaining pin for the draw bar does fit as the hole in the pin was drilled in the wrong place. I inadvertently did not the word not. The pin does NOT fit in the pin because the hole was drilled at the wrong angle. I had to use another pin with the hole drilled at the proper angle.

Just finished installing the hitch receiver wiring harness on my 2012 Scion xb. The hitch receiver fit just like it was supposed to, and the wiring harness went in without incident. The directions in the video are a lot more clear than the written ones that came with the wiring harness. took about 2 hours total.

Comments
Actually, I have only used it once since I installed it. I have no reason to expect there would be any problems next time I use it..

The product is great! It arrived quickly and was installed in 10 mins! We love it! We would order from etrailer again.

I am very happy with the Hitch. I thought it was great that I could find the right fit for my car very easy and you had the wiring and any other accessories needed to do the job. Also great videos to explain installation. I put it on my Scion xB as easy as the video.

2009 Scion xB

Like the other reviews say, it's great, so I don't need to add more than that about how I like the product. I will add some information about the issues I ran into installing it. I have a 2009 xB with 77,000 Minnesota miles on it so the bolt holes were rusty. The two bolts that were removed from the tow hook were just fine but the other 4 were rusted enough that I could not get the bolts in. If you have the same situation you just need a 12-1.25 metric tap and a tap wrench for it. A regular wrench will put weird pressure on it and you may end up re-threading it, which will not be good. What I did was to use a 1/2" plumbing wire brush to first scrub out as much rust as possible. Then I squirted some WD-40 in the holes to clean them out some more. Once I wiped them out I applied some cutting oil to the tap, not that you need it but I had it, and carefully re-tapped the hole. The problem I ran into is that the muffler gets in the way of the tap on one hole so I had to push it off the hanger, which can be difficult. The method I ended up using in order to get it off the car side of the hanger was to use three 16p nails as ramps. I slid a nail in three points of a triangle under the rubber hanger so they were over the nub that holds it on. I then sprayed some WD-40 between the rubber hanger and the nails and then pushed on the hanger from the back side, from under the car, and then it popped off. Once all of the welded nuts were cleaned out it was a breeze to install by myself. Just hold it up enough to loosely thread in a couple of bolts and then you can loosely put in the rest. Once they are finger tight you can torque them and you are done. I didn’t bother with a wiring harness since it is only for a bike rack.

We purchased this product to give us added room in our xB for a trip to Disney World. It easily installed and worked wonderfully with the cargo carrier. etrailer was a big help and watched over our order to make sure it would get to us on time. I will look to them for all our future trailer needs.

  • Availability of Trailer Hitch For 2010 Scion
I do have trailer hitches available for the 2010 Toyota Scion tC, the Scion xB (except Release Series models), and the Scion xD. All of the hitches available for the Scion will be Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches. Each vehicle model will have three different hitches available. I am including three links to product pages that will list the hitches available for each model of Scion. Also, I am including a link to a video of a hitch being installed on a Scion xB. Both the 2014 and 2015 model years of the Scion xB are part of the vehicle's second generation and so will share many design and construction features. My technical contact at Curt confirmed for me that their hitch that fits the 2014 model year xB, part # C12490, also fits the 2015 model year.

  • How to Determine Gross Trailer Weight and Tongue Weight Towing with a 2009 Scion xB
The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the owners manual for your 2009 Scion xB to determine its capacities. They are likely not the same as the hitch. Whichever is lower, the hitch or the vehicle, is the rating you need to go by. To determine the gross trailer weight you will need to look at the sticker or plate on the trailer tongue. It should list a dry weight and a gross trailer weight. The gross trailer weight is the most that trailer can weigh including itself and...

  • What is the Difference Between Class 1 and Class 2 Hitches for the Scion XB
Class I and Class II hitches both have a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. A Class II hitch usually has a tongue weight rating of 350 pounds and a towing rating of 3,500 pounds. The only other difference is that accessories designed for Class II only hitches will not fit in a Class I Hitch. Class I accessories will work in the Class II hitch. I would recommend...

  • Will a Trailer Hitch for a 2005 Scion xB fit a 2008 Scion xB
The hitches that are built to fit a 2005 Scion xB will not fit a 2008 Scion xB. The 2007 xB brought a new body that included some frame changes which is why the hitches for the 2004-2006 models will not fit the newer models. For your 2008 Scion xB you can use one of three hitches: Curt part # 12490 or Draw-Tite part # 24815. I have added links to these hitches below as well as to a video of the Curt hitch being installed on a 2008 xB and the instructions for the Draw-Tite part.

  • What is Proper Trailer Wiring for a 2009 Scion xB
The Modulite that the local place was referring to is the black box you see on part # 118468. Rest assured, this is the correct part for your 2009 Scion xB. The 2009 xB has separate brake and turn bulbs, so the box combines these two signals so it can hook up to standard trailer light systems. There is also a loose red wire lead on the box that does need to be run to the battery. This is so the trailer is powered directly from the battery instead of pulling extra power through the factory...

  • Curt T-1 Connector Part # 56062 as Least Costly Option for Trailer Connector on 2009 Scion xB

The tail light circuits on that vehicle are not rated to handle the additional load of the trailer lights. The T-1 connector part # 56062 is your most economical option.
