This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.Came as expected. Hitch was in great shape after shipping. Installed easy. The hardest part was preparing the vehicle. It is 3 years old and the weld nuts in the frame had some rust. Used some PB Blaster and a wire brush to clean the threads. I also bought a bolt with similar threads to chase the weld nuts before I installed the actual hitch and bolts.
I have been having a difficult time with finding the correct sized bolts to install the hitch onto my car. The customer service representatives were helpful enough to send replacement bolts for free, however, those new bolts also did not fit on my car.

Hmm...I wonder if simply cleaning out the bolt holes in the frame could fix it for you. If you take a steel brush or something like part # 814113, and some lubricant like WD 40, and clean away any possible debris, that could be all you need to do. Let me know if thats not the case and we can go from there.

Solid heavy duty hitch.
Easy to inst all.
The Curt Hitch is exactly what I need and the installation was straight forward. Make sure that you have a helper to lift the hitch up into position and you have a proper torque wrench as it will take some effort to get them torqued up to the spec in the instructions. I would have given this a 5 star but the way the hitch and enclosed Curt wiring harness was sent needs some work. The Curt wiring harness plastic package was just tossed into the hitch box. This allowed the hitch to smash open the unprotected plastic package and scattered all of it's contents and some of it when out of the large hole that the hitch punched through the carton. It could have been easily taped up to the hitch to give it some protection. On the plus side, E-trailer did promptly sent out a replacement Curt wiring harness kit so that I could complete the installation.
All I needed was a class 1 or less 1&1/4" recvr for a bike rack and this is what I found. A class 3 hitch rated for towing 6000#. Ridiculous. The thing weighs a ton. It is awkward as the dickens to handle. It was thrown in a box with no packing what so ever. All four corners of the box were damaged and the hitch was poking thru. The UPS driver left it at the bottom of the stairs to my front porch. It's a drop in fit if your Honda Pilot is upside down. Very difficult to get into position under the vehicle with the vehicle on the ground. I watched the video and I highly recommend it. Drop the spare tire like they say. Better yet get someone to install it. My wife and I did it in about 2 hours which is ridiculous to wrench in 6 bolts. They are fine to medium thread machine screws and have to go in straight and square. The hitch is so awkward and cumbersome to handle. We put ammo cans I had under the sides and recvr and built them up 2 layers until I could get 1 bolt in and then it was easy peasy. Do not completely install any 1 bolt until you have all 6 bolts almost completely installed. You need a 1/2" drive socket wrench and extsn. You also need a 22mm socket as mentioned in the video. Two guys under the SUV on a lift, they make it look easy. It is not easy because as I mentioned before this thing is heavy and awkward. It loves gravity. I dont know how you could lift it up and put in the bolts (easily). Good luck.

Very well constructed. Fit my Honda Pilot perfectly. Installed it by myself with the help of a scissor jackit,s quite heavy
Good receiver for the price. Perfect fit for our 2022 Honda Pilot. Easy installation. Would have been 5 stars but shipping was hard on it. Expect chipped paint and scratches. Doesn’t ship wrapped or protected in any way.

I am sorry that the hitch arrived missing the box that it was shipped in. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. For a quick fix I recommend touching up it up with a rust resistant spray like Rustoleum.
Fast delivery. Fast customer service responsiveness. Installation went perfectly, without a hitch (pun intended). Very easy on the 2020 Pilot. One recommendation I would add, is to lube the 6 bolts and threaded holes and run the bolts all the way in and out once before lifting the hitch up in place. Trust me, you'll thank me for it. I had to install this myself, so I temporarily held one side up with steel wire/coat hanger. Then bolted the opposite side up loosely, then did the other side. Total time about 35 minutes.

The hitch has worked out fine. I use it for a small utility trailer and a very heavy bike rack with 2 bikes 250 lbs total.
Fits well on my 2021 Honda Pilot. The etrailer customer service was excellent, the video explanation was extremely useful (although it certainly cuts out the grunt work time and makes it appear easier than it actually is). The hitch is 50 pounds and takes a bit of muscling it around to get it installed (took about 45 minutes overall). Certainly do-able for a DIY person but don’t go into it assuming it will be easy. I used the jack to help hold it in place but even that is difficult if the jack is not stable. Best as a two person job.

Still looks great after a year of heavy use taking bike rack onoff twice a month.
100% satisfied with this purchase from etrailer.com. Everything from ordering online, to customer service, to delivery, everything was super easy. The box was damaged but the hitch arrived in great shape. Not a scratch.
Installation was a breeze. With the help of a buddy who also purchased a hitch from etrailer.com, installation took less than 15 minutes. Thank you!

Its still holding up great after 1 year. We use it quite a bit to transport bicycles & other equipment. Still in almost brand new condition.
Hitch will be specifically used for a Thule bike carrier. All you see is just the receiver, bracket is hidden under frame. Easy ordering process and quick shipment.

Great product, low profile, quick ship, exactly what I wanted to hold a 4-bike carrier!
The hitch and wiring harness was very easy to install, I actually installed by myself. Looks great and cost much less than the factory install.

Hitch is excellent, highly recommend this product.
Great price, great product. I installed it on my wife's 2016 Honda Pilot. Installation was easy, just awkward since the hitch is super heavy and I had to do it myself -- took about 90 minutes to do it myself -- would take a lot less tine to install if I had another strong adult to help.

Product is still great! Will always check etrailer.com first if I ever need another hitch. Tempted to get one for my Tesla Model 3!
Hello folks ,
I hope to help others with my review. First I have a 2021 Honda Pilot SE. I am using the hitch to mount a bike rack only. I am not towing anything and did not hook up any lighting harness. The hitch fits perfectly via simple bolts that are already predrilled into the car frame. This is a very simple install if you are not doing any wiring. Took less than 30 min. Some advice is you need 2 people to at least get 2 bolts started one on each side. To help clarify some confusion I had but could not find any details. The SE pilot has 20 inch wheels. If you are using the factory spare tire the hitch will fit fine. The factory spare is a compact spare and it fits fine. Lower the spare do the install then crank it back up. I was concerned about the hands free rear door sensor not working. The sensor works fine for me without installing the relocation kit. I am not an expert but it appears that the relocation kit for the kick sensor is needed if your hitch goes through the rear bumper. This hitch hangs just below the factory bumper and the hands free sensor works fine. Frankly the sensor is a bit quirky but yes it works. If you can use a socket wrench you can install this without an issue. If your car is new the bolt holes will be nice and clean and the bolts thread right on. Nice quality product and vet simple install. Very satisfied. Took longer to make breakfast then put this on.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Item C13146 for my 2018 Honda Pilot AWD EXL arrived on time. The box it came in had a few holes but the hitch itself and the 6 bolts were in great shape and well-built. The installation video is perfect. My awesome wife and I installed it in about half an hour. It looks good on my SUV and I like that it doesn't stick out that much, shins are safe from hitting it. We finally used it with a bike rack and hauled 3 mountain bikes, and it worked great. This product has my recommendation.
Excellent product, fast shipping. The box was really torn up on delivery, but I blame FedEx/ups for that. There were no scratches or anything on the trailer hitch despite the box being torn up.
Install was relatively easy. The bolt holes in the frame were really gummed up from road salt and dirt here in NH. It took me a good 40 mins to clean those holes out with a copper pipe cleaner, wd40 and some break cleaner.
The actual install of the trailer hitch was 5-10 mins after that.
Dropped the spare tire, laid on the driveway underneath had my wifelift and hold one side while I threaded 1 bolt on. The went to her side and secured that side. The rest was just torquing them in and putting the spare back.
Perfect fit and it hides real nice, doesn't stick out at all.
This is my second purchase from etrailer, the price and ease of install means I will probably be back again for my next car/truck
I have been buying from etrailer for several years. Products and service are awesome. Shipping is super fast and the support videos are amazing. Most of the unfavorable comments in reviews are about packaging and I agree. It would be nice if etrailer spent another dollar or two on packaging. Something as simple as a plastic cap plug over the receiver tube hole would help keep the one part that is visible for getting damaged/scratched.
Outstanding product and service. Arrived earlier than expected. Once installed, had a sleek custom look. Would definitely recommend a 2nd set of hands rather than trying to do it yourself with a jack. No need for a lift. Can easily access with spare lowered. Check your spare tire pressure while out. Most important part of the job is cleaning the 6 holes where 14 mm bolts will be inserted!!! Older vehicles accumulate rust and crud which make threading difficult. You definitely don't want to strip the threads and a quality 22 mm socket is needed to sustain the recommended torque. I used a wire brush and Nut Buster solvent. But wished I had a 14 mm thread chaser to really clean the threads well. Also applied a small amount of silicone grease to each bolt. Easy job if you prep the holes!!!
I also specifically chose the Curt because the clearance from the hitch pin hole to outer bumper was only 3" which gave my bike rack plenty of clearance. I liked the Matt black finish of the etrailer comparable hitch, but the distance from hitch pin hole to the outer bumper was 5" and was concerned that would be a little close. It would probably be fine, and extenders are available.
Really happy with purchase, but CLEAN those thread holes well!
Easy installation and works great!
Etrailer and Curt make a great team. Their hitch is a high quality affordable product. Note; I checked and the Acura dealer wanted an absurd amount of money for a hitch. This one is very easy to install (must have two men) with ratchet with extension to fasten 6 bolts. Remove spare tire if present, one guy on each side of hitch on backs under car, lift hitch up to align one side then other side needs some force to push the exhaust hanger to the side while lifting the hitch. Secure one bolt each side to take weight off, snug fit all six bolts then torque each to 139 ft.lbs., reinstall spare and you're done. Took me and my friend 20 minutes start to finish. Hitch has a nice finish and heavy duty one-piece construction with high quality bolts and spring/safety washers and it leaves 11 inches of clear space to the ground once installed. I highly recommend this Curt hitch, plus delivery by etrailer was within 4 days!
Hitch fits perfectly. Was an easy insta ll.
Buy this thing. We used it for our family trip from Minnesota to Tennessee. On the way back we went through a tornado in TN a a winter storm in Iowa. The bag was a frozen block of ice on the back of our vehicle that I had to blast with a heater just to thaw enough to get to the zipper. Once I had it opened up, everything inside was bone dry and zero damage. Awesome. The hitch is really easy to use and a quick on/off whenever needed. Really well made product!
This is my third trailer hitch through etrailer. I could not be happier with everything. I just bought a new vehicle and the dealer wanted more than 500 dollars to install a hitch. Obviously I was able to do it myself for way less than half that cost. When I jacked up the car I did not see bolts in the holes (which had been there in the last two vans I installed hitches onto) so I was a bit nervous that I would have to figure out the right bolts to buy but low and behold they were actually in the box with the hitch. It took me about 10 minutes to install. And the hitch is super sleek and unnoticeable.
2020 Honda Pilot EX-L, 2wd: The entire process of the etrailer website (Extremely thorough information they provide), purchase/ delivery, and installation was phenomenal. I’m still a bit blown away. I’ve paid Uhaul to install 3 hitches on my new Honda’s over the years. I was/ am happy with their product and service, but the etrailer experience (recommended to me by a friend as “plug and play”) has been so wonderful. I can’t recommend doing this yourself enough. I had to rent a torque wrench ($11/day), and this hitch was still about half the price of Uhaul doing it.
Customer service was able to 110% price match the Curt 13146, the package arrived in excellent condition with nothing sticking out or any scratches or damage. During installation, I did lower the spare tire to have room to wrench the bolts in. It is pretty heavy to lift up and wrench by yourself, but I was able to do it by myself by using some buckets and items to lift the both sides and the receiver end. I did not have to jack up my car there was plenty of room. The hardest part was getting the first bolt in since it’s heavy to lift up and trying to torque the bolts to [see instructions for torque rating] lbs. I was able to manage by placing my foot on the rear tires and on the receiver end to get a strong leverage to get the [XXX] lbs needed since I did not have anything on hand to extend my wrench for leverage. It looks nice, the hitch doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb under the Honda Pilot 2017 EX. I am overall satisfied with my purchase from etrailer, the only thing was that I was charged without my approval of the full price before I got the price match. However, they did refund me the price match difference which solved the issue. The hitch is sturdy and I have already attached a cargo carrier in the back to show that it does work.
Package came within a few days of ordering. The install was easy. It definitely took two people but we made it happen and it was installed within about 30 minutes from start to finish. I would recommend this product!

Still going strong after one year. No issues or sign of rust or fatigue. Fits the car well.
