This fully welded trailer hitch receiver bolts onto your vehicle's frame with no welding required. Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.Did this install by myself on my 2017 Highlander XLE. I am not a tall person, and am 68 years old, but was able to use a bucket to raise the hitch high enough to get one side screw stared, then the other. After that, it was easy. Hardest part was putting 86 pounds of torque in a laydown position, but after a few grunts, and chosen words, my torque wrench clicked. The Hitch itself is low profile enough not to hit shins when putting in groceries, which the wife likes, as well as a very good finish. Thank you. Great Hitch, Great Price, and Great instructions.
Great trailer hitch. Super easy to install and great instructions. Did the whole install by myself though, if you have available help, it would be a lot easier to install. Fast shipping from etrailer. Definitely would do business with etrailer again when needed. I have not hooked up my boat to actually use the hitch but quality of hitch and install were great.
After owning this trailer hitch for one year, it still looks and operates the way it did from day one. It is extremely solid, and as far as I can tell, flawless. Highly recommended.
One side was bent about 1 1/2". Not sure if it was welded crooked or what?!? I made it work eventually but it definitely makes me wonder if all their products may be inferior. Was already half done and didn't want to undo everything and return it and wait a week. If I had bought local I would have returned it.
Fast delivery, good instructions and a video on you tube on my exact car. Turned out great. Now we can load the bike rack on Thanks!
Perfect fit ! Easy install with help of a $10 metric socket set -if you don’t have one. No need to drop spare tire or jack up car. Definitely helps to have an extra set of hands to lift and hold the hitch mount under the car. I used a $20 zip saw to cut the Driver Side underbody panel after it was removed and Passenger exhaust deflector in place. Cutting-edge instruction diagram could be improved a bit. It appeared as an optical illusion to me.
Super fast and easy install. Was completed in less than 45mins including modifications to the factory plastic splash shields.
I received the hitch on time and no damage to the box and no scratches on the hitch. The directions were easy to follow and had the hitch installed in about 1.5 hours, I didn't have to jack up my vehicle (2016 Toyota Highlander), the hitch was light enough that I was able to lay it on my lap and start a bold on each side then work my way back installing the remaining 4 bolts. I torqued the bolts to specifications as stated in the directions then installed the wiring harness, that only took 15 min start to finish. I towed a 5' x 8' [rental] trailer with furniture on a 8 hour trip with no issues. Buying the hitch was cheaper that renting a truck to move my daughter into an apartment for her Junior year of college. Thanks again for a great product at a great price.
Every time I walk behind the Highlander I think dang, that’s a good looking hitch! Following your instruction videos made for a very easy installation. I chose that particular hitch because it didn’t stick out beyond the bumper. It’s perfectly centered and pulls trailers well!
Easy install, easy to read and understand instructions. Did it myself in 45min. My Toyota Highlander was much easier to install than my Toyota Venza, needed second person for that one.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver was easy to install and looks great. I had never installed a hitch before and it went really quick and was straightforward. I looked at the other hitch options available and felt this hitch did the best job of blending in with the vehicle, as if it had been there sense day one.
One year later and the hitch is great! My car guy installed it and he inquired about where it was from because it was much more solid than many brands he had installed before for customers. He said easy installation (I think he charged me less than an hour). No rust & Easy to attach and detach a year later. I have recommended the hitch to friends. I have a Toyota Highlander and if I had added the hitch to my new car purchase, I think it was going to be $700+. This was a great deal for cost and quality.
Top of the line hitch from Curt! Great for all of my needs, plus it's easy to install (with two people.) Second curt hitch I've bought, will continue to buy curt exclusively!
Great product as advertised. The video for installation was relatively simple to follow for our 2018 Highlander. Just make sure you don't have it upside down as the holes won't align ;). Thanks etrailer! We will be turning to you for our next automotive accessory needs!
Outstanding Value! I installed in about 2 hours by myself and didn't lower the spare tire. The installation video was very helpful. But, there are a few items in the video that need updating/clarification. At 4:46, the bracket doesn't get re-installed. That's even mentioned at 7:39 in the video. As well, at 5:00 the muffler bracket doesn't need to be removed and you can see that it wasn't removed at 7:04 in the video. Nothing was mentioned about cutting the plastic muffler shield, which is seen cut at 7:02. I was able to just push it out of the way with the hitch. So, I didn't cut it off like the written instructions stated. And for trimming the driver's side panel at 7:55, I trimmed a lot less, see my photos. Lastly, be sure and adjust the hitch side to side before tightening the bolts to ensure it's centered. I highly recommend etrailer and am very happy with my purchase!
Great product and fantastic support for installation instructions including the video that was included with my order!
Just got the items in, but what a tracking system, the map is really cool. I plan on installing today so we'll see, but with the attacked videos I believe I'll have no problems.
A very solid hitch. Installation was fairly straight forward. Watching the online video for installation was very helpful. The only deviation from the video, was I removed the bracket holding the muffler, to make it easier to get to the 3 bolts on that side. Then reinstall the muffler bracket. (See photo). This is my third hitch from etrailer, and as always, am very satisfied.
The curt hitch for 2016 Highlander does not include the piece to lower the muffler. I realize this is a Curt manufacturing component issue. Disappointed. I must assume their hitch will still fit or I will have to return to etrailer.
Great product and great customer service from etrailer! I've been putting off getting a hitch receiver for a while and the time had come to stop borrowing friends trucks to haul things around. I did some research and after watching the install video online, I decided there was no reason to pay someone to do this install. As expected, it was relatively easy (especially when someone else helps hold the hitch up while you start the bolts). The receive does stick down below the bumper slightly (as accurately shown in their product gallery) but not as bad as some of the other models out there. Based on the combination of price and visual appeal, you can't go wrong with the Curt receiver. I also bought the wiring kit from etrailer and installation was a breeze! One note to future customers watch the etrailer install videos. They are extremely thorough and will make the installation of whatever you decide to buy much easier!
I had to modify the instructions slightly. My vehicle is a 2015 Highlander, XLE. Installation was not difficult. Most of the time was spended on trimming the drivers side underbody panel to my liking. Passenger side trim don't have to be remove. On the metal facial tab, only remove the existing m12 bolt. I removed the bolts holding the muffler to give me easier access because this was a one man installation. Follow the rest of the information. Shipping was done fast and the vendor was always helpful providing information.
The hitch was easy to install and the instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this hitch. The customer service staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the products. The etrailer is definitely the way to go.
Super easy install of the C13200 on my 2018 Highlander Limited. I reviewed the videos for installing hitch and harness. They were well done and missed nothing. I set the hitch on an overturned 5 gallon bucket and was able to easily start the bolts on each side without a second set of hands. I marked and cut the panels with a fresh blade in a utility knife. The plastic panels are just soft enough. I did not have to take the spare down but I do see where you would need to tilt it when raising and lowering it into place. One suggestion for the folks at e-trailer: put your decals on straight if you'd like me to advertise for you. Mine was slapped on crooked and creased so I took it off. You do a great job on everything else! This was the second time I've bought a hitch from you and am completely happy with your products and service. Oh, and wiring harness was a cinch, too!
I buy all my hitch receivers from e-Trailor several cars and trucks for friends and family installed ten or more and all have come off with out a hitch David Mesa AZ
I installed the trailer hitch and wiring kit to our 2014 Toyota Highlander. Since I am 69 my wife insisted that my son help. I did the "prep work" getting the car up on improvised "ramps" (2x12 and a 4x4) under each rear wheel. I (my son) had no problems installing the hitch. Taking off the Toyota trim parts was "interesting", the panel under the drivers side of the car had 3 different types of fasteners, but that is a Toyota issue. As for the wiring kit I did that myself. One question I had was, why 3 fuses of different physical sizes when only 2 are required. The suggestion I have is on the wiring kit, the fuse holder that is attached to the module should have longer wires (maybe 9-12inches) so it could be routed to a place where replacement would not involve taking off 2 awkward to remove panels. Also the ground wire if about 2 inches longer it would reach to a convenient grounding place. And lastly the module is supposed to be attached to a "flat surface" inside the car, there are no flat surfaces, so I used the extra zip ties to hold the module to the cars wiring harness so it doesn't flop around.
