Powder coated steel is sturdy and corrosion resistant.This hitch fit perfectly my Lexus 2019 RX450hL. Shipping was done on time and the item got delivered in perfect condition. This is my second time using etrailer and it won't be the last one.
The hitch appears to be very solid and the crossbar is concealed behind the rear bumper. The bolts supplied are about 1/2” shorter than the Lexus bolts that are removed prior to installing the hitch. I ended up reusing 4 Lexus bolts and only 2 of the new supplied bolts. The supplied new bolts were just too short to get the bolts threaded into the bolt holes. I’m an experienced DYI’ er and the install took me 4 1/2 hours. Way more than the 1 hour they claim a Novice can do the install. I did the install by myself so I expected it might take more than an hour. I would buy the hitch again
The install was easy but required two persons. The instructions were very good. For those with the Lexus RX 450hL, this hitch fit like a glove. Now I can haul my two eBikes with ease. Thanks etrailer!
A few weeks ago I installed the Curt C13394 hitch from etrailer.com on my 2020 Lexus RX450hL. etrailer and Curt don't seem to know that this hitch which is meant for the 350L does also fit the 450hL but it fits perfectly. The install was fairly easy, I did it all myself except I had my son help me to lift it into place and get the first few bolts in place. The videos on etrailer are helpful, but there isn't one for a Lexus RX for this hitch. However, there is one for another hitch that installs very similar, so suggest watching the Lexus RX350L install video. The biggest task was probably cutting the driver's side panel to go over the hitch since they don't give you a template or anything. What I did was pushed it into place to see where it hit the hitch and then tried to just trim the minimum amount necessary with a Dremel and a cutting blade. The second picture shows the panel after I trimmed it and re-installed it. The third picture is the front part of that same panel to show where I trimmed it there. I won't be towing with this vehicle so I only installed the hitch and didn't bother with the electrical hook up. I just need it for a bike rack and possibly a cargo carrier. Most of the time I only need to carry one bike so this will allow me to have a small single bike rack most of the time and I can add room for a second rack only when I need it. I'm very happy with this setup. Attached are some pictures.
I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 for one reason, this was a difficult install. I've installed 2 prior hitches before, one on a Tacoma and one on a Colorado and they were simple. I did this one on a 2019 Highlander. The hitch itself is a quality product. The holes did not line up on both sides. I had to drop the muffler bracket and drop the spare the so I could use a ratcheting cargo bar to spread the two support wings that bolt to the vehicle. Had I not had something to spread the supports, I never would have got It bolted on. Removing the muffler bracket was two fold as I needed to move the muffler toward the center of the vehicle a little to get the bolts up and over it to screw them into the frame. All in all, it was a difficult project, but it looks good. I used wiring harness connector C56217 and that was an easy plug and play.

Looks nice and is mostly hidden as advertised. The overall width of my frame was too narrow and I had to spread it for the bolt holes to line up. I had read about this is a previous review so I measured first and made the easy adjustment before installing. Minor fix. Like the look and the paint is holding up well a year later. Recommend.
First of all this is my fifth or sixth purchase from "etrailer.com" their prices cannot be beat!! Thanks for that. This hitch was installed on my "new to me" 2018 Toyota Highlander Limited. As a very qualified Toyota tech was doing the install, we did not exactly follow the video instructions that were for a 2019 and 2017 (attached to my order). Anyway the install was clean and well done, the large "tab" over the exhaust was cut/trimmed away. The other two small arms/tabs were NOT removed and added to the clean install. My only issue, would be that there was no "retention" port/plug for the 4 pin wire harness, so it hangs free. See pictures. Otherwise very happy. thanks again etrailer.
My order got here on the scheduled date. I installed it the following weekend. Pretty straight forward when you watch the install video. The paper instructions were not very helpful. The only thing is you definitely need is a second person when mounting the hitch. I also had to use a clamp to spread the bar just a bit to line up the holes which is pretty minor, also you do not need to trim as much on the plastic housing as indicated. But, all went well. The hitch had no defects, install went smooth and looks great!
This is my second hitch purchases from etrailer. I would have given 5 stars however, like noted in some reviews my hitch too was bent, almost a inch off. The best way I found to bend it back in shape is use two 4x4 post pieces and a hydraulic jack, used from my Yukon.. Otherwise it is only a 30 minute job to install. I recommend, since this seems to be a issue from time to time, is place either a 1x1 or 2x4 or other ridged device to ensure the hitch maintains its shape during shipping. You guys have great vids showing how to install. Highly recommend your products. Thank you...

2018 Highlander XLE - The Curt C13394 is sleek and hardly noticeable under the bumper. IMO the square tube design looks more professional than that of the round tube design of many aftermarket hitches. I followed the 2019 Highlander video instructions found here on etrailer. That video suggested keeping the bumper stabilizer brackets in place. I was able to put them back in the stock position with the stock push pins. I printed out the pictures found in the Earnest 08/01/2020 review and was able to make exact cuts for the driver's side plastic side panel using his pictures as examples. I'd also suggest measuring across the hitch before you install it to make sure it had not been bent in shipping. It is 41" center to center. I appreciated etrailer's support who gave me those measurements ahead of time. It bolted right in place when my help arrived to hoist it up. The rating is 500 lbs tongue weight and 5000 pulling weight. The Highlander's rated at 5000 lbs towing rate. The shipping was fast and free!!
Installed on my 2018 Lexus RX 450HL. etrailer/curt don't certify this hitch for this car. But after seeing review from another customer who installed on their 2020 RX 450, i took the chance. So happy that i finally have a hitch on this car!! My mechanic charged me for 2hr worth of labor. They also removed the plastic panel in order to fit the hitch. It only protrudes a little and the underbelly of the car where it is installed.
Works as intended. The videos provided by etrailer were very helpful. My husband and installed it ourselves on our 2019 Highlander. It was tough getting all the bolts aligned while laying on our back on the ground, but we did it! Keep the bolts loose until you have them all in. Then, tighten them down. We use it for a platform bike rack.
Very happy with all facets of my purchase. They provide links to videos that show how to install both the hitch and the wiring for a trailer hook up. This makes the job extremely easy. Also they were slightly cheaper than [online store].

I received my hitch for my 2018 Toyota Highlander very promptly. I installed it myself with the help of my motorcycle jack in less than 2 hrs.. The fit was perfect and the only part of the hitch you see under the car is the receiver. I am well pleased.
Nice hitch, I really like how the cross bar is hidden behind the vehicle bumper fascia. The instructions were very clear and everything lined up as it should. The face of the receiver was a little chipped from shipping, it could have used a little more packaging material there.
John - 06/04/2020The hitch and 4 flat wiring kit were great and everything went together easily, I would say it took approx. 40 minutes to install everything including the hitch and the wiring - very easy and straight forward. The videos from e-tailer were very helpful. We used the hitch on our Highlander to pull our boat to the lake this weekend. Everything worked as it should with no issues. I give it 5 stars.
