2018 Honda CR-V

This hitch is great. Fits my 2018 Honda CR-V perfectly, and the slight trimming of the plastic bumper cover is not visible. Use if for hauling my gravel bike, but would have no reservation about pulling an appropriate size trailer. This is the 3rd hitch I've bought for different vehicles over the years. The service at etrailer is as good as the products they sell. Highly recommend..

Have used it with my bike rack hundreds of times. It does its job and doesnt distract from the appearance of my CR-V

This is the third hitch I have purchased from Etrailer in the last 2 years, everything thing they do is first class from pricing to the quick shipping and the customer service but the packaging department is terrible. When you put a 40-50 lbs. hitch in a generic sized box with a little cardboard strap stapled to the side it will move around and break thru, see photos attached. When I went to install it one of the holes would not line up so I took it down and noticed that the hitch had been bent.
I would rather wait an extra day for delivery instead waiting an extra day for the paint to dry.

Unfortunately, it is very common for hitches to bend during shipment. This is because the hitch is made to flex slightly to prevent stress cracks during shipment. I have a link below for your reference.

The hitch is working as expected after I straighten it and painted it, hopefully your packaging has improved..

Still working and looking great. No regrets

I am really glad that I purchased this Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2022 Honda CRV. I wanted it only for use with my bike rack that is intended for a class III 2" receiver. The best thing is I like how it is tucked away underneath the back of the vehicle. As you can see in the pictures here, only the receiver is visible. The rest of the hitch is nicely tucked away under the vehicle. I had it installed by a local garage that I go to for normal maintenance of our vehicles. The mechanic said it was easy to install.

2022 Honda CR-V

Hitch arrived packaged well. No damage apparent. Videos of installation were very helpful. This hitch was installed on a 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring. The foot control for the back hatch was lost due to the location of the hitch which I expected. There was also a wiring stand off that had to be moved. I did this install by myself and yes it would have been easier with another hand but this is the fourth hitch that I have installed, all bought from E-Trailer! Highly recommend E-Trailer and their staff! This hitch will be used for my Thule bike rack with two bikes.

Honda

Arrived quickly, installed by local Road Rack in 2023 CRV Sport Touring, looks great, hands free rear door opener works well. Honda wanted almost $1K, total was $425 hitch and installation. Honda will not install class 3 hitch due to towing weight restrictions, I needed class 3 for my bike rack so this worked perfectly.

Looks like a factory install. Easy install with 2 people but possible with one with more time. Etrailer install videos, fast shipping and good pricing make them the best first choice to get hitches and harnesses.

This hitch fit my 2023 Honda CRV EXL non-hybrid SUV. Getting it into postion and bolting it in went well, but there is a harness connection in the way on the driver's side which I had to relocate a little higher with a tie rap. Notching out the lower bumper raparound was a pain, mostly because I didn't have any dimensions, so I undercut it and had to take the hitch off again to cut it wider. The exhaust suspenders were hard to get off and on. What worked for me was lubricating the rubber suspenders and using large channel locks to press it on. Once it was on the hitch is great looking and worth the effort. I was impressed with how quick it was shipped, the tracking provided, and it arrived a lot sooner than promised.

It has been a great hitch and because it is concealed it looks great also. No problems towing with it taking the boat to the lake.

I called eTrailer to discover what hitch would do what we needed. Staff were super helpful in selecting the right product. I purchased it somewhere else and the eTrailer team installed it, quickly, efficiently and economically.
Nicely done!

I have a 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid Sport. This is the front wheel drive model. I thought that I would have to remove the back bumper cover but I didn't. Once the bottom cover was removed, I removed the two push pins at the far corners of the bumper cover. That allowed me to push the lower part out far enough to get the hitch installed. I installed it by myself and after I figured out that it would fit, it took about 2 hours to install. Made about a 4"X4" cut in the middle bottom of the bumper cover and notched out the bottom cover and it was perfect. All that shows is the receiver itself. Couldn't be happier with the hitch. The hardest part of the install is prying off the two rubber exhaust hangers. A little WD40 helped. They were much easier to reinstall. I do have to say that the fit is tight to the hybrid battery pan that sticks out the bottom. I don't think there was much more than an eighth of an inch clearance on either side.

Perfect fit. Once you get pass the vehicle muffler and underbody panels, it was an easy install. (Note: The rear bumper fascia center cut-out should only be ~1.5" deep by ~3" wide, for the 2022 Honda CRV EXL hybrid.)

Honda

This hitch fit our 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid Touring. It was difficult to find one that did because of some of the features on the Hybrid Touring, and even Honda didn't have a specific hitch to fit. I had the Honda dealer install the hitch, and it fit perfectly and works for our accessories. I won't be towing with the CR-V, but I can install our accessories (basket, bike rack) now. Additionally, even the foot sensor at the rear of the vehicle for the rear hatch still works with the hitch in place. This was a good choice and the etrailer staff was very helpful when purchased. I recommend this hitch for customers looking for one for their Honda CR-V.

Stephen

by:
2025 Honda CR-V

Heavy duty. Very good quality. Mine arrived with no damage to the box of the hitch.
Tight fit under 2025 cr-v sport L hybrid. You need to get it in just the right spot for it to go up onto the bolts. The side arms of the hitch are super close to the dropped down underside of the car, where the hybrid battery is.

by:
2024 Honda CR-V

I was impresses of the quality and heft/strength of this hitch. If I am ever in need of an after market hitch again, I will defiantly buy an Etrailer hitch.

by:
2024 Honda CR-V

I installed this on my 2024 Crv Sport hybrid. It touches the undercarriage a few places but I was still able to install it. The e trailer video is very helpful, just remember there are some differences between models so be ready to work around them. Overall happy with the purchase.

by:
2023 Honda CR-V

Very nice hitch with moderate installation difficulties during my install. The pictures in the instructions showing measurements to cut are very hard to see so I went by an installation video on the site to better gauge the cuts. Also, my unit was bent a bit (called to see why it would not fit) so the initial install failed. After bending the mounting ears back a bit, first breaking my small vise then using harden steel plates I have which did the trick, the install went much better. I highly recommend using soap and water to help remove and install the rubber dampeners holding the exhaust. It would have been far more difficult not doing that.

If it weren't for the great customer service at etrailer, I would have been pretty upset, but they were awesome.

by:
2024 Honda CR-V

The hitch itself was top notch. Online video is quite helpful, although the video shows the easy access side. This is probably to make it easy to see, but if you watch the video to see if it's worth the work just know that it's a little more difficult on the muffler side. Also the muffler hangers took me about 45 minutes to get off and on. Not the fault of the hitch, but again if you're getting an idea for DIY. Also trimming the plastic pieces took quite a bit more time as the directions are not very helpful. I had to do quite a bit of trimming after it was installed and that added a lot of time.

All in all, working under a vehicle supported on ramps instead of a hoist, it took me just under three hours to finish the hitch part. The wiring looks like it will be easier.

by:
2023 Honda CR-V

No wiring kit.

Jenny N.

7/7/2023

Yes, the hitch does not come with the wiring. For a 2023 Honda CR-V we currently have two options. One is part # C56370 which is for the All Wheel drive version. For this harness it does not include the fuse required to activate the tow package and you will need to look at your owners manual for the location. The second harness option is part # C59236 for the Front Wheel drive version. It is a hardwire harness and does not require a fuse to activate.

Evgheni

7/6/2024

Perfect! Thank you for providing quality product.

by:
2021 Honda CR-V

Install was super easy! Just backed the car onto ramps, chocked the wheels, and went at it! Dropping the muffler was super easy with a large pry bar. The video on the site is VERY helpful, I recommend watching it before you begin. Took me about 1 hour start to finish. Good quality, highly recommend!

by:
2024 Honda CR-V

Product arrived on time. Had installation problem when back of hitch was hitting recovery loop Located a welding shop and cut 1/2 inch off part of hitch that was problem.

by:
2019 Honda CR-V

Top quality. Except for the receiver, this hitch is invisible and does not obstruct tailgate foot sensor. Fairly long installation, since it requires lowering both mufflers and the main exhaust pipe near the catalytic converter. Small cut is also needed in the plastic of the rear bumper fascia, although it is not visible once the installation is complete. Requires the use of a 1/2" torque wrench. Had the torquing double-checked at Honda dealership. Spent an afternoon with the help of a neighbor doing the install in my driveway.

According to Curt there have been some redesigns to this hitch to make it more compatible with the auto lift gate sensor. Yes, the trailer hitch receivers for the 2023 Honda CR-V fit the hybrid model as well. There are no differences for the hybrid hitch since all of the available options fit all models. If I were to recommend one it would be the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848. I like the etrailer hitch because of the matte black powder coat finish. This gives it an OEM look and does a better job hiding inevitable dirt and dings. If the finish isn't a big deal to you, I would choose whichever has...
