2023 Subaru Outback Wagon

It’s a hitch. It’s made out of steel. You can’t do much to it when shipping. It arrived clean and all in tact. Again, it’s a piece of steel, not much can happen to it. I’m happy as a clam that I can haul my raft with my new Curt trailer hitch receiver for my new 2023 Subaru Outback. Would totally recommend to anyone needing a hitch. Thanks etrailer, you rock

Hitch is still fantastic after a year. No complaints here

by:

Excellent product. Easy installation and fitment. Very happy long term customer.

Heavily built, nice welds, the kind of paint quality I would like to see on modern cars, built to last. Alignment to car spot on. Thanks!

Installed this product on a new vehicle, not used yet, but best to be ready, right?

by:

Thought Curt was quality equipment. Mine must have been built Friday evening before a 3 day weekend! Holes were off just enough to make it so the bolts would drop through the body. No amount moving the hitch would line up the holes. Had to enlarge or oval out the body holes. Poor quality control. This is my first and last Curt purchase. Should have bought the cheaper E trailer brand. Bought Curt because I have mislead to believe it was better.

by:
2020 Subaru Outback Wagon

Everything was very well laid out and the instructions were easy to understand. I really appreciated the fish wire provided for the chasis bolts. Only issues I had was the two bolt circled. One due to the muffler and the other due to the bumper not completely aligning back. In all it worked out. I also didn’t realize I made a similar review for a hitch cover insert…. Awkward.

Excellent product...1 year and zero issues, thanks etrailer!

Subaru Outback Wagon

Hitch was affordable, delivered quickly and is fairly easy to install. The only issue I had was related to trimming the bumper. My outback is a 2024 and the rear bumper cover is slightly different than the instructions and the video. They call for a 2.5x3.5" hole. I had to cut an additional inch so basically a 3.5x3.5" hole for the bumper to clear the hitch. Have hauled my bike rack several times now with the hitch. Works great.

by:

So far so good. It's installed and I'm excited to use it! Video and instruction sheet are invaluable. Recommend taking pictures as you take out the clips to know which ones go where, different sizes. I had to remove my taillights to get the bumper off. Tip: slide them straight back. Do not pull out sideways or you may break off the end of the light housing. Overall a good and straight forward install. Have technical experience and proper tools so that is helpful.

Subaru Outback Wagon

The hitch installation on my 2021 Subaru Outback XT took about 45 minutes. I watched the install video, gathered the required tools and got to work. Everything went together perfectly. So glad I installed the hitch myself.

by:

25 minutes after placing my online order with etrailer I got a phone call from a representative, ensuring that all of my order was correct was in stock and was being packaged for shipment. I had all of the parts that I ordered three days later, and a verification email that it was delivered. etrailer Runs their business. The way every business should be run. They take care of their customers from beginning to end and today, one year after the purchase. I got an email from them to find out how things were going. Six stars.

by:

Overall, reasonably good experience. After a bit of confusion and delay, I found out they couldn't get their own branded hitch so I had to pay more for the Curt. It arrived packaged well and, with the help of their online videos, instruction was pretty simple. Nice, clean, and fairly hidden install. Would buy from eTrailer again.

by:

Pretty straightforward installation. The videos were very helpful - watched them twice and referred back during install.

by:

Install really wasn’t that hard. I do not consider my self “handy” and was still able to easily install the hitch with the video instructions. The appearance of having everything hid behind the number looks great. I’ve used the hitch a ton with my bike rack and have had no issues. Great Job!

by:

Having never put a hitch on a vehicle this was the easiest thing to do. Very thorough instructions and video on [online]. Estimated time was 2 hours, took me me little over 1 hour.

by:

Excellent hitch. Powdercoating was flawless, for was perfect, and trim template measurements for lower bumper trimming were spot on.

This is the first hitch I’ve installed myself, and it still only took 90 minutes!

Highly recommend for 21+ Outback!!

by:

Product seems to be of good quality, and insulation was smooth. But the product is just so poorly packed that it has no chance of arriving undamaged! There is zero internal packaging or insert to protect the hitch, and the box is far to shallow. The amount of damage to the hitch was very unfortunate. For almost XXX dollars you would think there would be a better effort to protect the hitch. Since I already removed the bumper I went ahead with installation, just did some sanding and touch up in multiple spots of the hitch. I will not be using etrailer for any future purchases!

It does sound like the hitch had a bit of a tough journey in shipping. I will pass this along to our shipping department. You have already done what we would have recommended in touching up the hitch with rust resistant paint. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

by:

Perfect fit, excellent quality, straight forward to install. Works great.

by:

This is a great hitch! On the OBW though, you need to lower the mufflers to get to the bolts, just fyi. Not a big deal, but it is something to keep in mind. Pretty easy installation overall.

Don’t waste your money on a OEM outback wilderness hitch. This is pretty straightforward and the install instructions are easy to understand.

by:
2020 Subaru Outback Wagon

Simple to install come with instructions, or use the video on the website.

by:

Excellent hitch receiver. Ordering and customer service were great. I like this one bec it allows you to use the factory impact beam, or structural part of the bumper. Installation was pretty easy. No issues, and no complaints. I would definitely recommend to a friend, and I’d buy the same one again.

by:

Got here quickly and installed so I can use it this weekend. Thanks

by:

the hitch pin is very easy to get to

  • Best Hitch Curt or etrailer for a 2023 Subaru Outback
Both the Curt item # C67JR and the etrailer item # e25TR are confirmed to fit the 2023 Subaru Outback. Both the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C67JR and the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT73RR are perfectly compatible with the rear bumper under guard you are describing. These are two very different hitches. The # DT73RR installs by bolting onto the frame. It also has a visible cross tube so you will see it hanging down under the Outback. • 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Tow Package Recommendation
The difference between the Curt 13494, our part # C67JR, and 13570, our part # C69VV, trailer hitches is that 13494 has a hidden crosstube so all you see is the receiver, while the 13570 is more of a "classic" hitch that has the receiver level with the crosstube. The Curt # C67JR and Draw-Tite # DT73RR and # DT94YR trailer hitches do all fit your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Wilderness but I actually recommend going with our etrailer version part # e25TR because it has the hidden crosstube for increased ground clearance like the other options, but more importantly it has a matte black finish that is more subtle but more durable than the classic glossy black finish the other options have.
