Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

If it was not for etrailer, I would not have the hitch installed in a expedient manner. [towing company] could not come through with a installation or a hitch. Very grateful etrailer and my hitch in stock

by:
2002 Nissan Maxima

Pretty easy to self install if you have some "wrenching" abilities. Probably took about 1.5 hours total.

2000 Pontiac Trans Sport Van

Install on 2000 Nissan Maxima Using hitch mount Thule Roadway 912xt bike carrier

Very well built, fairly easy to install. Use the tips provided by etrailer and you will have less trouble. The only thing that worried me on install was the bolt leader. I had NEVER used one and wasn't sure what to do, but figured it out. My only slight gripe is the directions. They are a little vague and don't offer much help. Not bad, but for someone who has never installed any type of hitch, they may be confusing. There were also several bolts left over that didn't get used, which made me a little worried, but I could not find any place that they could be put. Extras maybe? Maybe, but that info should be in the directions.

All in all, very solid hitch that I use to transport my bikes. I wish I could hold more weight, but that is due to the limitations of my car and the hitch. Make sure you buy the correct hitch accessory, as this hitch will only accept CLASS I receiver products.

I saw it on the internet , It looked good for the price
so i called and ordered it,
the people were all so nice.

It was here faster than expected,
within a day or two,
It was a easy install
almost any one could do.

I would buy another,
or recomend it to a friend,
everything went smoothly
till the very end

I attempted to take its picture
but this is what it did,
living up to it's name,
it just went off and hid.

For a 2003 Maxima, the hitch is going to do the job just fine. I’m using it to tow a 230lb. Trailer that’ll be loaded with kayaks, but I’d be comfortable towing more...although I’m not sure about the full 2,000 rating. But who knows, the engineers are probably smarter than me.

Specifically for the 2003 Maxima, the hitch hooks into an aluminum bumper with no access point to drop the bolts and the galvanic Isolator shields, so you’ll have to drill a hole large enough to fit the pieces through. As far as the shields go, the directions said to use 2 shields per point with an aluminum bumper, however, only four shields were sent and two were also supposed to be used for the trunk connections points. So I did some head scratching and ended up using 1 shield per point and really hope I did it right.

As for the company, I love the selection of products and how also needed parts are matched, the ease of use of the website and quick shipping.

2015 Nissan Maxima

I had no trouble installing this hitch on my maxima. Very straight forward...Had to remove to bolts and a couple muffler rubber gromets/holders to get the the car ready to receive the hitch. I fished all three of the passenger side bolts through the frame with the threaders first and also held the hitch in place with my floor jack to keep in lined up correctely without have to balance. The negative part is after the hitch was installed, my bike rack was A REALLY TIGHT FIT!!! It probably took 15 minutes to get the thing to slide in to the receiver...I even had to sand away some of the paint on the rack!! Total install was probably an hr, but if I had to do it again, probably halft that since I now know what Im doing. It looks good and will serve its purpose!

2002 Nissan Maxima

not easy to install, due to car's (nissan maxima 2002) not threded 3 holes on the passinger side above the mufler. You have to fish them through the further back hole, and not to lose them - use lock-grip pliers on the end of the wire to secure them while positioning the hitch over the screws, and also to hold them when starting to put washers to secure them. took me 1 and 1\2 hours to install it.

by:
1998 Nissan Maxima

This hidden hitch is solid, and is hidden well on my 1998 Maxima.

This installed relatively easily. The only problem that I had was installing the bolts through the frame, which I had to use a different route than the instructions had shown.

I have hauled a U-Haul trailer over 6 hours with a motorcycle. I have had zero problems with this item.

I would recommend this to anyone interested

2001 Nissan Maxima

Fit was good one bolt did not aline up with the car frame very good but was workable. I plan to pull a light weight trailer with the hitch. This is the 3rd hitch I have purchased from “E” Trailer over the years.

by:
1997 Nissan Maxima

The installation was relatively simple for a do-it-yourselfer and I have had no negative issues with it since. I use it to tow a small trailer with an electric wheelchair and it works great for my purposes.

by:

The product is just as described and came in the amount of time as was supposed to.
I will continue purchasing the products I need for my trailers and trailer hitches from etrailer.

by:

Trailer hitch arrived and I installed it the next morning. Easy to install with complete and detailed instructions. Hitch is sturdy and well built. Recommend purchase and use for anyone needing a hitch on auto.

by:
2000 Nissan Maxima

Product was delivered very quickly in appropriate box, there were slight scratch marks on underside so i suggest more plastic wrapping around entire bars. Instructions were just a little ambiguous but not bad. Product shipped with two extra hardware bolts that were not used in assembly.

by:
1996 Nissan Maxima

Hitch fits nicely, installation was not difficult. Can be done in one person, but second pair of hands, every now and then, would have been helpful. This is not the first item I bought from etrailer, and I always had good experience.

by:
2002 Nissan Maxima

This hitch went on very easily. I was skeptical that we could get the bolts and backing plates into position with the wire guides provided but it was easy! The fit is excellent.

by:

spent 1 hour installing the hitch. No ramps or jacks needed. about to do the wiring. hope it goes half as well. BWG

Great item, fit my car. I ordered another from a different vendor and it was not for my car...so it was very exciting that this worked and fit.

Seems nice so far. My favorite thing was how incredibly fast they got it to me. They were also very helpful on the phone.

  • What Is the Tongue Weight Capacity of Draw-Tite Hitch Part # 24686
The rule of thumb for tongue weight is 10 percent of gross weight. The Draw-Tite part # 24686 is a Class I hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 200 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the bike rack and the bikes on it, must be 200 pounds or less.

  • Hitch Fit for 1996 Nissan Maxima
The only hitch fits we can guarantee will work on your 1996 Nissan Maxima will be custom fit hitches like the Draw Tite part # 24686. The universal types of hitches are designed to attach totally differently than how the rear of your vehicle is setup which is why they wouldn't work well. I attached an install video for this for you to check out on a similar 1996 Nissan Maxima as well.

  • Cargo Carrier # 52017 Recommendation for a 2000 Nissan Maxima
For your 2000 Nissan Maxima I would recommend you get a 20x48 Cargo Carrier # 52017 as this cargo carrier is compatible with vehicles that have Class I hitches like what would be on your vehicle. This carrier would do well on your 4,000 mile road trip. The Cargo Carrier # 63155 that you referenced might not work for you since it is designed for vehicles with Class II hitches and there are no Class II hitches available for your vehicle. It fits some Class I hitches but not all of them....

  • Will a Curt Trailer Hitch for a 2000 Nissan Maxima Fit a 1995 Nissan Maxima
    Curt trailer hitch # C12224 fits the 2000 and 2001 Infiniti I30, 2002 to 2004 Infiniti I35, and 2000 to 2003 Nissan Maxima. But it is not a fit for a 1995 Nissan Maxima. For your 1995 Maxima we have Draw-Tite hitch # 24686 and Curt hitch # C11255. Draw-Tite hitch # 24686 fits the 1995 to 2003 Maxima.

  • Will The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack For 2 Bikes Work With The Draw Tite Class I Hitch 24686
I have a solution for you. The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64650 is not compatible with a class 1 hitch. Like the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # 24686. However the Swagman Chinook Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64683 is compatible with class 1, 2, & 3 hitch receivers. It will be a sturdier design and build and can handle more of the up and down or bouncing that...

  • Parts Needed for Towing Small Trailer With 1996 Nissan Maxima
If the trailer weighed less than 2,000 lbs then our trailer hitches like the Draw Tite part # 24686 would have the capacity for a trailer. But you would need to check the owners manual of the 1996 Nissan Maxima to determine it's towing capacity and be sure to stay under it. For a ball mount you would want the part # 3593. For a 2 inch hitch ball part # 19258 or for 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256. For trailer wiring you would want the part # 119178KIT.

The hitch you referenced, the Draw-Tite Class I Receiver, part # 24796 fits the 2009-2011 Maxima or the 2007-2011 Altima only. For your 1995 Maxima, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I Receiver, part # 24686 or the Curt Class I, part # 11255. The Draw-Tite model attaches to the vehicle under the bumper and the trunk pan. I prefer the way the Curt receiver attaches, as it uses two additional attachment points to the bumper structure. Because of the stronger attachment, the Curt model...
