Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario. Technical Support

At we're committed to the products we sell, and to our customers. Works as intended, using it for a bike rack. Install was good, but had to place a piece of 2x4 above the muffler and use a jack to bend the muffler a little, otherwise one of the bolts that holds the hitch assembly would hit and vibrate on top of the muffler and cause a annoying noise. Would buy again.

We do offer a great FAQ on how to adjust the muffler to eliminate the rattling noise.
-- Etrailer Expert Jenny N - 05/24/2022

Installed on a 2006 Honda CR-V. The frame holes had to be widened to allow the bolt head and metal bracket to fit through, as was shown on the training video. Used a drill and grinding bit and a minute of work to make a slot on one side. The exhaust did not drop down at first but there is a pipe joint at the axle that slipped at an angle when the muffler was forced down. Didn't seem to hurt the pipe when that happened. Did this because I could not get the front hanger off. At the tow hook, pay attention to the order in which the brackets are installed. The instruction sheet is clear on the stack order. Both round hole brackets go together between the tow hook and the hitch bracket, holding the hitch bracket off to the driver's side. All in all, a relatively easy install, taking about 45 minutes.

2006 Honda CR-V

Fantastic trailer hitch. Installation was easy (once I viewed the instructional video) and took a little less than 2 hours. It would be much easier to install the hitch if you have access to a lift but I was able to make due with jack stands. I never will exceed the weight rating for the hitch A top quality product and very sturdy indeed. Thanks!

The installation was easy. The installation videos were very helpful. The quality and price were just right for my budget boat project. I had some loading ramps that I drove up on and it was just high enough to deal with the install. All in all, it was a satisfying experience.

I have bought hitches from etrailer before and always had good luck with them

2005 Honda CR-V

The hitch attached to my car just fine with the exception of the bolt length I was instructed to use per your instructions. The 1 1/2 inch bolts were too short. I found this out after installing them in the frame, and it was no fun removing them with the plates. What was quite frustrating was learning that the longer bolts (included in the parts kit) were needed, but there was no mention of using them in the instructions. Other than that I would not recommend using strapping tape to attach the parts kit to the hitch during shipment. The tape leaves a nasty residue the customer has to clean off, and the parts made a hole in the bag and scraped paint off the hitch. The installed hitch looks fine and will serve its intended purpose.

2002 Honda CR-V

Great fit and function. I would recommend dropping the muffler completely during installation rather than fighting with it. There are 2 nuts on the flange just in front of the rear suspension along with 2 hangers on the muffler. This made it much easier and faster to install. Great product thanks!

Hitch arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Extremely simple to install in theory-- the fit of the hitch is great. The only problem is that the holes in the vehicle frame were too small for the bolt anchors and it was sort of a pain to enlarge them, especially the one on the exhaust side, access to which is restricted. Also, the bolts are just barely long enough to get the washers and nut on; that process is a little bit ticklish.

Despite those minor matters, it's a pretty simple and straightforward install. We're very happy with the hitch. And the support (videos, etc) from etrailer absolutely first-rate.

2004 Honda CR-V

Good hitchI bought this hitch for my 04 Honda CR-V as it was billed as a bolt-on - no drilling needed. The instructions did say that the holes where the hitch bolts to the frame may need to be enlarged. For the 02-06 CR-V, this is true, and necessitated the removal of the muffler to ream the hole on the passenger side. The bolt heads are 1", the stock frame holes are about 7/8". After this hiccup, the hitch bolted on easily and looks good. I should also add that it cost me 1/2 of the OEM hitch to buy and install, including wiring. I have not towed with it yet, but will be doing so soon. If you are wanting buy this hitch for your 02-06 CR-V, you will need to do some drilling and parts removal to get it on your car.

2004 Honda CR-V

Good price. Fast shipping. I was going to give 4 stars because of the hole size issue mentioned in other comments BUT this was offset by the fact that etrailer has a youtube channel and I was able to see an installation video that explained things a little better than the instructions. Great company!

Fit without problems. The only suggestion is to use bolts longer than 1 1/2 inches as catching a thread was difficult. A longer bolt on the non-muffler side would not cause any problems. However, the longer bolt above the muffler on the right side might cause it to bang against the muffler going over bumps.

etrailer service was quick. And the price was right.

Hitch received in a very quick manner 12-20-010. This is a gift. We have yet to put this on the car. But all parts were although the box had a few holes in it. The parts were taped to the hitch and there was no way that the parts would get lost. The paint seems to be good; but the hitch is now hidden out of sight. Depending on the weather I may have more infomation in about a week. It al depends getting the garage warm enough to install the hitch.

2003 Honda CR-V

Received trailer hitch yesterday, rapid shipping. The shipping box had 24 HD staples in it, fun to open!!. The hitch arrived in great condition. To cold: 30s & snow in Michigan to install just yet. Soon as the driveway is dries some it goes on. Looking forward to the balance of order to arrive. Thanks, etrailer. WGW

Rapid ResponseThe trailer hitch assembly is in my possession and arrived here very quickly after the order was complete. I hope I can get it installed as quickly as etrailer has responded and provided excellent service and attention to my order. I will surely be ordering other items from etrailer very soon.

2006 Honda CR-V

The hitch receiver arrived on time as promised. The box and product were fully intact with no damage. A little early to review the product yet since it just arrived 2 hours ago and haven't installed yet. But if it fits and installs anything like the instructions, it should be just fine.

This is the third draw tite hitch I have bought from etrailer. As always easy install, sturdy and good looks on my 04 crv.

Got my 2003 crv hitch with fast delivery and had it on the vehicle with in one hour after delivery. Great service and product.

I like the service. Thanks, Instuctions were great total time with electrical hook-up was 2 hours and 45 min.

  • Which Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2008 Honda CR-V
The Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24772 is a confirmed fit for a 2002 - 2006 Honda CR-V. For your 2008 Honda CR-V I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75547 due to it having a 2x2 receiver that will give you more options for accessories than a 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 receiver, and having a higher tongue weight and trailer weight rating than the other trailer hitch receivers for your vehicle. You will need to check your vehicle's owners manual to find the...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2002 Honda CR-V for Carrying 3 Bikes
I assume the Draw-Tite Sportframe trailer hitch that you are referencing is part # 24772, which is the Class I hitch by Draw-Tite for the 2002 Honda CR-V. If this is the case, then this trailer hitch will work with any hitch mounted bike rack that was designed to fit a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch shank. Class I trailer hitches are limited to carrying a maximum of 2 bikes. The issue that you will run into when trying to carry a third bike on a Class I hitch is that the weight...

  • How to Determine Correct Rise/Drop Ball Mount for 2006 Honda CR-V with Hitch
I attached an FAQ that details how to pick out the correct ball mount. Picking out the correct ball mount will allow your trailer to sit as level as possible. Basically you will first measure the height from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the hitch while on level ground. Next, you will measure the coupler height from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the trailer is on level ground. Next, you will need to compute the difference. If the hitch height is...

  • Why are the Trailer Hitches for a 2004 Honda CR-V Rated for More Weight than the Vehicle
It's true, Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24772, as well as the other hitch options for the 2004 Honda CR-V, exceed the capacity of the vehicle. All that means is that the hitches have those ratings but you are still limited to the capacities of the vehicle since it is rated lower. The reciprocal would also be true: if the vehicle was rated higher than the hitch you would go by the hitch rating since it is lower. The reason there are 2 inch hitches available for this vehicle is demand. The...

  • Replacement Drawbar Recommendation for a 2005 Honda CR-V with a Draw-Tite # 24772
I went out into our warehouse and measured the distance from the center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank on the Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000# Kit, part # 3592, and found that it is 1-9/16 inches. I then pulled a Sportframe Drawbar 2-1/8 inch Rise or 2-3/4 inch Drop 2000# Kit, part # 3593, and found that it also shares the same measurement of 1-9/16 inches from center of the pin hole to the butt end of the shank. Since the original drawbar that...

  • Will The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24772 Fit My 2011 Honda CR-V
I do have a hitch available that will fit your 2011 Honda CR-V, but the item you selected, Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24772, will not fit. Part # 24772 is designed to fit the 2002-2006 CR-V. For a hitch similar to part # 24772, you will need the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24792, which is also a Class I 1-1/4 hitch and does not require any drilling to install on your 2011 CR-V. The Draw-Tite Class I Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 24772, will fit your 2003 Honda CR-V. This hitch fits the 1-1/4 inch receivers. I have included a link to the hitch receivers that were designed for the 2003 Honda CR-V. My personal recommendation is for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 13535. • What Parts Can I Use to Adapt a 2 Inch Bike Rack to a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch for a Honda CR-V
You can use a 1-1/4 to 2 inch adapter like part # HTAD, however, this will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. Draw-Tite hitch, part # 24772 has a tongue weight capacity of 200 pounds. If you were to use an adapter like # HTAD, your capacity would be 100 pounds. This means that the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes must be 100 pounds or less. If the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle is less than 200 pounds, take 50 percent of that number.
