The installation was no major problem except for drilling the 2 holes in the bumper and than trying to fish the 2 bolts thru the inside of the bumper, the bolts are a1/4 inch too long, other than that the hitch is great.

I have a Mazda 6i sport. I notice in some of the pics that the bar touch some even pushes up against the bumper fascia. Is that a problem for you? What holes did you have to drill and do you have to use a special drill bit?

Thursday evening I called etrailer.com to place an order for a Draw-Tite hitch and a Swagman XC bicycle carrier. I talked with Laura H. at etrailer.com. She was very friendly and I was so impressed with her knowledge of the products and her thoroughness. Laura took the time to make 100% sure that I was ordering the correct hitch for my car and the correct carrier to fit the hitch. I was notified when my order shipped the next morning and was provided with tracking information that kept me informed of where my order was and when it would be delivered. As promised, my order was delivered the following Monday.
I was totally surprised when I opened the box. The hitch and bike carrier were packaged so much better than more for more fragile products I have ordered from other companies in the past. Every part I needed for installation was included along with clear instructions for installation and use. Everything on the Draw-Tite hitch lined up perfectly and it was very easy to install on my car.
The Swagman XC carrier is very well made and sturdy and it holds our bicycles very securely.
I am very impressed with the staff at etrailer.com and also with the products they sell and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Trailer and hitch worked!!! A great success as it was for my husband who is an avid cyclist. Works excellent with his Mazda 6 I would recommend this for anyone who needs to load a bike on a car. Or needs to add a hitch to hold a bike rack.

Fits nicely into all of the connection points and all components work and fit nicely.
Small tips to anyone looking to buy one tho:
If you have an aftermarket bumper like mine be prepared to drill a slot out.
The drilling into the frame is made out of reallllyyy hard stamped steel which we couldn't drill out with a handheld drill it required a Dumore.
Also you can poke a hole into the spare wheel rubbers and reuse the seals to reduce vibration and water proofing.

2007 Mercury Milan
I have a Mercury Milan 2007 premier it had the two holes in the trunk pan and the two bolts you pull out of the bulkhead everything fit right up when it come to drilling the holes in your bumper support many people have said bolts are too long however if you have a die grinder or 1/2 inch drill slot the holes out to the same size the hitche is and the bolts will go right in it is damn near impossible to just drill a half-inch hole and get them in I tried that if you only have a drill you can Waller the whole out but make sure you Waller it to the same size that the hitch is and everything will be fine I had no problem doing this by myself pretty simple installation if you Waller them Holes out do not attempt to make a half inch hole it's not going to work and don't cut the boltswell I'm off to hook up the boat oh PS make sure you order the wiring harness with the hitch

Chevrolet Colorado
I purchased this receiver hitch to accommodate a three bike rack for our summer vacation to Colorado last year. I won't say installation was a breeze, but it wasn't terribly difficult either. It just takes a little finesse to fish the bolts through the frame. We have since used the bike rack several times and the hitch has remained solid. I would definitely recommend this style hitch for anyone interested in light hauling.

2008 Ford Fusion
Product is fine however main issue is installation. The reinforcement plate and carrier bolt combination were too tall to fit completely turn and fit inside the frame on my 2008 Fusion. The easy fix for us was to by 2 1.5" carrier bolts that were slightly shorter than the ones that came with the hitch. This worked fine. Other than that no complaints. I will say that the hitch is very close to the bumper on the car (within an inch both ways) which may cause some headache in attaching my bike rack. Good product though.

this hitch is all that its described as ...and LESS!!! Which is great because its very functional but totally invisible beyond the tiny little square hitch receptacle portion ...I love it and highly recommend making this your first choice. Compares quite favorably with a hitch I recently put on another one of our cars costing over 4 times as much. Also, E-trailer was fabulous to work with as an unexpected delay from the manufacturer resulted in a delayed shipment to them...however they had the product TO ME on time as originally expected! TERRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!

The receiver is unnoticeable when hitch is not installed. The instruction video was very accurate and to the point. I believe the bumper support is hardened steel and is very difficult to drill, I highly recommend purchasing a Cobalt bit, which will save you much agony especially if you don't have a lift rack access.

2007 Ford Fusion
All I wanted was a trailer hitch for my fusion so that I could put a carrier rack behind the car for a vacation. So I ordered the least expensive one I could fine from etrailer. The hitch arrived exactly on time when I got home from work yesterday at 4 o'clock I had it completely installed by 730. The directions were OK but I could make sense of them ,the only problem that I had was using the wire with the curly cues to pull the bolt through the frame.I needed to elongate the holes instead of having them round, I struggled for an hour trying to get the bolt in a round hole and they would not go. Once the hole was egg shaped installation went at lightning speed. I added a little RTV sealant in the spare tire well to keep moisture coming in from underneath.

2007 Mercury Milan
Overall installation wasn't too bad. Bolts which are meant to be fished through the bumper are too long. It's not possible to rotate them up and slide them through the drilled holes on a 2007 Mercury Milan. I had to cut 1/4" off these two bolts.
Otherwise, the hitch seems very solid and fits well.

Mike,Thank you for your review.The bolts that came in the hardware kit for the 2007 Mercury Milan are designed to be fished through the frame using the bolt leader provided. It may take a bit of maneuvering to get the bolt through the frame and to the mounting holes. We do not recommend trimming the bolts since it may void your warranty or affect the integrity of the hitch.

2009 Ford Fusion
Overall, very satisfied with this product! Shipping was fast and installation was pretty straightforward. I found the installation video very helpful and the same steps applied for my car (the '09 Fusion SEL model with V6 engine and two mufflers in the back). Only difference was having to lower two mufflers vs. one, everything else worked the same as in the video. Only challenges during installation were drilling through the frame of the car and fishing the carriage bolts through the bumper support as they were a little too long. I simply cut a 1/4" of the bolts off and secured the bolt to the metal plate with some electrical tape before fishing it through the bumper support and this made it much easier. You could also consider drilling the holes a little bigger than 1/2" but make sure you have a decent drill bit for getting through the frame (it took a while for me).

Installed on my 2006 Mazda 6 S. The process was very straightforward, and the video was helpful. Drilling through the trunk bottom was unfortunate, but it's good to have 6 mounting points for a trailer hitch for sure.

Still can't find an adapter to fit this hitch. I need to go from 2" to 1 1/4 but haven't found any of the standard adaptors side all the way in so the pin holes can line up. Very disappointed. Wasted money.

Hitch fit my 2006 Fusion perfectly. Installation video was excellent and my own installation went like clockwork. Everything I expected was in the kit. You can't even see that it is there when the ball mount is removed. Totally satisfied all around and couldn't be happier.

Works great, fairly easy to install from someone who is experienced in mechanical work. Might be a bit difficult for a novice. Hardly noticeable on the car if it weren't for the bike rack!

Overall the hitch went in well and I still have to install the wiring. It took me about 2 and half hours but that included getting the car up on blocks and finding tools. I did like the videos on how to do the install...wish I had a hoist to install like they did.

The hitch arrived quickly and fit my car. The installation was not as easy as described in the video (specifically drilling the 1/2" holes in the frame and using the pull wire) but was still able to get it done. etrailer customer support was helpful.

This went together EXACTLY like the video indicated it would. Rolled car's rear tires up on ramps and worked with a creeper under the car. This was well engineered and simple to install. 60 minutes later I was putting my tools away. Can't get any better than that.

Very easy installation and the instructions and video make it a breeze to install. I did this install by myself but i would recommend having a friend to help out when you have to tighten down the first 2 bolts. I cant complain at all about the fast shipping, great communication and notified where my order was at every time it changed the status.
