Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Having issues with the bolts provided with the hitch, even though I cleaned the threaded holes with brass brush and WD-40. Difficult to tighten bolts, and concerned that the bolts will break, or the welds on the nut will give way. Used never-seize, but still slow going. Think I might try thread chaser before I try bolts again. 660836

The hitch went on in about an hour working alone. The small steel wires used to pull the flat plate and carriage bolt into the bumper worked well but are an eye hazard for anybody not wearing glasses. 614941

Excellent! I could not be more pleased. The hitch arrived quickly and was well-packed. Installation was a breeze. The installation video was spot-on accurate and helpful. All the parts and instructions needed were present. The wires for threading the bolt and metal part into the bumper were exactly the right length -simple, fast and easy to do. The receiver hitch itself appears to be very well made. Even though the vehicle looks fine with the little hitch trim door removed, the instructions included details on how to cut the little hitch trim door to fit around the hitch. I did it and put the little trim door back on - wow! It looks great - an unexpected bonus. Thank you to the folks at etrailer. I am a very pleased customer! 364637

The hitch and wiring look great and the price was great. The only thing is a need to find out tape size is for bolts to clean the treads in the frame. If you know what size tap let me now other wise I will try and find out tomorrow.when I get it done will try and send another review 686975

The installation instructions are spot on! Perfect fit. An effort should be made to provide or make mandatory A male tap(thread chaser) for the “chasing of existing threads” when using pre existing threaded holes or Factory pre existing weld nuts. When using existing threads the provided bolts should have “dog points” to assist in ease of starting the fastening process. All too many times the non experienced installer may achieve torque limits without fully seating the conical washer because of cross threading or unseated bolts. Also recommend “dum-dum” , it’s like a heavy putty to apply to “fished” bolts and washers To hold them in place when raising hitch in place while catching the washers and nuts during the installation process, prevents pushing them back in The cavity and Expanding your vocabulary! The prices and value of buying from etrailer are among the best companies. I have seen other used products for more money and incomplete hardware. Why bother! 869935

I’m 75 years young & I just finished installing the 1 1/4” receiver on my 2015 Chev Equinox by myself , took me 1 1/2 hours with fishing the carriage bolt and flat washer through the frame was a challenge. I used my motorcycle jack to raise it up, did not jack the vehicle, just laid on cardboard. Great product, even a 75 year old can install it 824849

The hitch I ordered for my Equinox arrived on time and in good condition. I watched the video on how to install it. This was helpful. It would be easiest to have a second person help, but I used my floor jack to lift it up to get one side bolt in, and then move to the other side. Make sure you use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts so you don't break the weld on the nut. I would gladly buy another hitch thru etrailer again. 789821

  • Installing Trailer Hitch in 2011 Chevy Equinox With Rusted Weld Nuts
It sounds like you have followed the proper procedure (which can also be found in the linked help article) to clean the weld nuts in your 2011 Chevy Equinox when trying to install Draw-Tite hitch # 36408. From your description and the photo you sent it does not look as if the threads are completely stripped so your suggestion of using drill tape can work. If it turns out that does not work you will need to locally source a thread tap and bolts the next size up which will allow you to...

  • Adding a 7-Way and Brake Controller to a 2012 Chevy Equinox
It means that the vehicle, when properly equipped, can tow a trailer that weighs up to 3,500 pounds. If your 2012 Chevy Equinox is a model that is rated for 3,500 pounds then you will not have a problem towing a trailer weighing up to 3.052 pounds. Usually to reach the maximum capacity you will need to have a trailer with electric brakes and use a brake controller to activate them. We do have the parts you will need for this. First you will need to install a 4-Way trailer connector,...

  • Trailer Hitch Hardware is too Large to Fit Weld Nuts on a 2013 GMC Terrain
The problem you are describing is a text book example of road grime and corrosion pact threads in the weld nuts on your 2013 GMC Terrain. Going to a smaller diameter bolt won't work and would result in the loss of the hitch. The weld nuts will need to be cleaned out and then the regular hardware that came with the hitch will fit. I have included links to both a help article and video explaining and showing how to clean out weld nuts.

We have hitches for the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox but the # 36408 Draw -Tite is not a fit because there's a generation change after 2017. Instead, if you want to keep a 1-1/4 inch receiver the only option is part # 36642 If you'd rather upgrade the hitch size to the 2 inch receiver I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76419 which has a concealed crosstube so all you see is the receiver opening under the bumper.
