Took some minor adjustments to the brackets and bumper placement but was able to get it done in an hour or two
To be honest, when the description for my hitch said bolt on, no welding or modification required, I was skeptical. This is one time I don’t mind putting my foot in my mouth. The hitch fits great! Bolted on with simple hand tools (and minimal explicatives). Thanks y’all!

I had a friend that said his hitch had rusted through after 15 years so I took a look at mine (same age) and yep it needed to be replaced. Found etrailer.com had a great price on a Draw-tite hitch and more amazing, an install video on the same year and model truck I own. It took way longer to remove the rusted bolts and receiver from the old hitch but installing the new took about 20 minuites was a breeze and the video gave me the confidence that the job was done right. My son just bought a Popup camper. So we bought a draw-tite class lll frame hitch receiver pn75073, a draw-tite brake controller pn5504, a universal brake control wiring kit pnETBC7, and a custom fit wire harness pn118329 for his truck. It took us a couple of hours to install. The instructions were spot on. He hooked up the camper to his truck, and drove off. Worked as advertised. (hope I get to see him soon!!)

I’ve ordered trailer hitches for two vehicles over the past three years and both times the item showed up in less time than estimated , and was easily installed by just myself and a torque wrench , more or less. The box was nearly obliterated by the shipping company but all the items were there and nothing was damaged so I didn’t bother to complain .
Darrell - 06/01/2019Hitch arrived in good time. Shipping was just fine.. Got the container opened and all the parts were there. I did the installation out on the front lawn, next time I will make sure I use a level, paved surface..
I did this project alone, no help was available. I used a hydraulic car jack for the lifting, I think I should have made a wood platform to stabilize the hitch on the jack.
Take a moment to inspect the underside. I lowered the spare for more room to work in,, While under the truck bed I noticed a very slight tweek in the left side of the installed step bumper,
Installation would probably have taken just 1/2 hour, but that slight 'tweek' skewed the alignment space on the left side that it took a bit of 'pursuading' to get the upper left portion of the hitch to slide into position. Took about an hour all told..After fitting in place, bolt up was fast and easy,
Side note, this is a 17 year old truck, I think I would spray some penetrating oil on the two bolts that have to be removed from the frame.
All told, basic mechanical skills, other than the truck frame glitch, a very good morning project..
I got my hitch and tail light today. We had it put on my truck in about 25 min. the hardest part was taking the bolt out of the truck frame. It went on as it was made to thank you for a good product. I would buy from you again.
james s - 04/04/2021The draw-tite hitch 75073 fit my 2003 Dodge Dakota club cab truck perfectly. No issues with the spare tire, and the wiring harness plugged in easily. I used several zip ties to keep the wiring out of the way, and fed the trailer connector under the license plate where it is easily plugged in when using the trailer. The installation really could not have gone any better.
Installation could not have been easier for my 97 Dakota. I did see in the instructions that other year models would require more time.
One of the reasons I went with this hitch is that it was advertised as being powder coated. I hope this hitch will not flake paint and rust as some other hitches I have owned. I did have to "touch up" a few spots from shipping. It had torn through the box, but was packaged so all the mounting hardware was still fasened securely to the hitch.
I admit I'm a little "OCD", so the "splatter" on the welds, and the decals on "crooked" does bugg me somewhat.

Easy to install. I was able to reach the wiring from underneath truck. Note: Wear safety glasses if under a rusty vehicle. I bought this and the hitch for a [retailer] move. Since then, I have used it for a couple more [retailer] moves. The hitch and the wiring have worked great.
Installation was easy, bolted right up. Shipping was fast, however, packaging could be better, package was all torn up, paint was chipped, and scratched up, had to touch it up to prevent rust. The loop where the safety chain connects was welded off center. Other than that seems pretty good. I haven't towed any thing yet.
Shawn M - 05/09/2014Like how easy it was to install the hitch, and breakaway switch, however, the only logical way to hook the wires up results in the blue wire from battery box connecting to black wire of switch.
Shipped very fast, packaged very well.. watched video on a 2000 dakota to see installation and when i looked under my truck it was slightly different watched video on a 2001 dakota and that was what mine looked like, 2000 was a split year. this site has been very helpful and this hitch bolted on in minutes very easy. also got wiring kit and same thing very simple to install. overall very satisfied..
excellent product. easy to install. all drill holes lined up. no extra drilling required. the welds cooled straight, no significant warping or twisting when cooled. The videos instructions were spot on . I've used hitches for years, first time I installed one, now I'm an expert.

3rd hitch from etrailer, video much more helpful than printed instructions. As others have mentioned removing the old hardware is the most difficult part, impact wrench was a must. About an hour start to finish by myself including wiring.

Hitch is well made with a good finish. The mounting plate for the wiring connector made for secure mounting. Installation was easy and fast.
Product was exactly as described and fit was perfect on my 2004 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. Having the installation video online was a great. Price was fantastic, so overall I'm very pleased!
