Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario. Technical Support

At we're committed to the products we sell, and to our customers. 2006 Jeep Liberty

Great products and service. I was able to order everything I needed to add a tow hitch and ball to my 2006 Jeep liberty. Very fast shipping. They even called me to verify orders and availability. Clear and easy to follow installation instructions. I hauled an U-Haul trailer from Texas to Ohio without any issues. Even bought a trailer and use it frequently for hardware stoe runs.

Was easily installed as well as the wiring harness. Looking forward to pulling my utility trailer.

it was a little bent but i was able to get it lined up so all good

Its very common for this to occur. The side plates of the hitch are made of a softer steel thats meant to flex, its typically easy to manipulate the hitch back into shape so the holes line up, as you experienced.

very easy to install this is the 2nd trailer hitch I have used from etrailer.Very good co to do business with good quality for the money will use them again

Trailer hitch was bent and did not fit my jeep. its the right hitch but the left hand side of the hitch is bent outwards and misses the attachment holes by 1/2 inch.

Hi Steve, Thanks for your feedback! This is the correct hitch for your jeep. The ears on the trailer hitch receiver can flex during shipping, but can be flexed back into position. I have attached a helpful article that will help show you how to flex the hitch back into position.

2003 Jeep Liberty

hitch went up and on easily. had to remove passenger rear tire to tighten and torque fwd . bolt . hope the pix might be of some use.

It is a high quality receiver at a reasonable price. Shipping was fast however mine was shipped in a damaged condition. It was bent and was not damaged in shipment. I had a body press and was able to straighten it out, however most would have to use a heavy hammer.

They extended themselves in my behalf in contacting the manufacturer for bolt hole distance which helped me considerably in repairing the unit. I really did not want to return it.

Would be a good idea to include bolt center distance in instructions if this is a frequent problem. I am not dissatisfied, but would encourage the company to inspect them prior to shipment.

Works Great, use it frequently

Super fast delivery. Couldn’t have been easier to install. What more could you want? Thanks etrailer!!

Jeep Liberty

Great post order customer contact from etrailer. One vendor related issue though, the box that the hitch was shipped in was a little flimsy. The staples had pulled out (someone downstream had thrown a few pieces of tape on it), and the hitch had broken through the cardboard in a few places scratching the paint.

Install was a pain. I had to use a tap to clean the corrosion out of the holes in my '05 Liberty, as there was no way a bolt would thread in. Frankly it was almost like there were no threads at all. Very difficult to work a tap at these locations, as you don't have the throw to use a standard tap wrench. I had to use the bare tap and a little open end wrench, and it took multiple passes to clean out each nut insert. The worst insert to work on, the nut that sits above the tailpipe. As the video mentions, I had to pull the tailpipe out of the way with a strap to reach that one. Making it worse, the factory had welded this particular nut insert a little too close to the hole in the (unibody) frame.

Also like in the video, the last bolt hole on the hitch frame (the one closest to the front of the vehicle) appeared to be out of line, almost like the Draw-Tite frame was bent. Unfortunately it was much further out than could be jostled back in place by hand, probably due to the aforementioned off center nut insert. I ended up using a big drift to lever the Draw-Tite frame into alignment, with multiple shims against the gas tank holding it out so I could get that bolt to start.

Net-net, time consuming to install, but mostly because of the age, design, and construction of the vehicle.

2002 Jeep Liberty

My husband installed it quickly. Only issue was the exhaust pipe blocked one of the bolts and made it difficult to get a wrench on. We're now ready to order our bike rack from etrailer. Thanks for the info on measuring to make sure it will fit our Jeep Liberty.

2005 Jeep Liberty

Been looking at etrailer for couple of years for hitch.Could'nt beat the Price or FREE shipping that was lighting FAST! As far as installation I retapped all mounting holes on my 2005 Jeep Liberty two days before which made every thing much easier.Oh did I tell I did this by my self in the drive way with a large floor jack, jacking it into position and a some wiggling,.Only took 45min.

2007 Jeep Liberty

Product fit was perfect on our 2007 Jeep Liberty. The only installation difficulty was the bolt under the exhaust pipe needed to be installed with a open end wrench because of the close clearance. Very good quality hardware supplied. The use of Bellevue lock washers keeps everything tight, follow the torque guidelines.

2014 Ford Van

I purchased a trailer hitch for my Jeep over the phone. Within minutes of hanging up, my order detail had been emailed to me. Approximately 30 minutes later I received my tracking info for this purchase. Two days later, my hitch arrived in perfect condition and exactly as described on the website. Phone, communication and shipping were all excellent with this company.....very pleased.

2003 Jeep Liberty

2003 Jeep LibertyI have used this receiver for almost 2 years now, and it is an excellent fit for the Liberty due to the spare tire location. You will need to use a minimum of 3" drop on the ballmount to clear the spare tire and have room for your coupler. 4" is better. You could use less drop if you have an extender.

2006 Jeep Liberty

2006 Jeep Liberty - perfect fit to the Jeep frame. My problem was on the Jeep side, holes were corroded and smaller than the M12 bolts supplied w/ the hitch. I needed to clean threads very well and purchase 7/16-14 bolts.

2006 Jeep Liberty

This was a direct bolt on for my 2006 Jeep Liberty. Not an issue with the product, but the forward right bolt hole was blocked by the muffler...could use a shorter bolt in that location. Finish was okay with the exception of where the packaging was ripped open (not the fault of the seller). For the fit and finish at this price point, you can't go wrong with ordering from

2006 Jeep Liberty

Prompt delivery via UPS at 45 lbs. The hitch fit good on my 2006 Jeep Liberty. Pretty easy to install with the right front lug nut difficult to start because the tail pipe is in the way.

2006 Jeep Liberty

Fit the vehicle perfectly. The instructions and videos from this site were extremely helpful during installation, which is definitely manageable. The shipment arrived faster than I expected. It has been working great for the past 18 months. Customer service and care are excellent. Will continue to use this site.

Good quality, stout hitch. Fully welded. Fit perfectly no issues aligning bolt holes. Holding gas tank guard in place with jack made install painless. Towed boat just after install with no issues.

The bolts that came with the hitch we're not the right size so I had to go to the hardware store and buy the proper ones no problem everything fit fine and the customer service was amazing

Had to do a little prying to get a couple of the bolt holes to line up with the frame, but other than that an excellent fit and easy installation. Do yourself a favor and get a 12mm X 1.75 tap to clean out the weld nuts on the frame, or make one by cutting a few grooves in a bolt of the same size.

Product fits perfect and all hardware included. Only thing is that the product came brand new with lots of deep scratches to it. Not a problem because It will be Mounted under the Jeep. This is the only my reason for 4 stars

Jeep Liberty

Great Custom FitFit my wife's Jeep Liberty very well, even with the extra fuel tank skid plate it has. Very factory look. Easy install.

2004 Jeep Liberty

Great product, ordered and received quickly. Arrived in great condition. Installation was pretty easy. Has held up well so far!

  • Hitch Bolts and Cleaning for a Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver
I apologize for the trouble you are experiencing with your hitch. The bolts that are supposed to come with the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75128, are 12mm x 1.75mm. It sounds like you received the correct bolts. Even if your vehicle has been on the road for only a year, it is very likely there is some dirt grime in the weld nuts on your Liberty. You may want to try cleaning out the weld nuts. I would first recommend soaking the bolt holes on your frame with...

  • Trouble Removing Skid Shield Bolts On a 2003 Jeep Liberty To Install Trailer Hitch
The best way to remove rusty bolts would be to first apply a lubricant, wait for the lubricant to break in then apply pressure with a breaker bar. If you have access to an impact driver that could be used to remove the bolts as well. If worse comes to worse, you can heat the bolt heat very carefully and then use either an impact driver or breaker bar to loosen the bolts. The above methods should then allow you to remove the skid shield bolts so you can install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer...

  • The Included Bolts Will Not Fit in the Weldnuts on Trailer Hitch 75128 on a 2002 Jeep Liberty
We have had this question before on a 2002 Jeep Liberty. Basically, there could be some dirt and grime gumming up the works and getting stuck in the weld nuts. This would make them hard to insert the bolts into. You can try cleaning them out real well using a spray lubricant like WD-40 or PB Blaster. Let it soak for a while and then dive in with a wire brush, like the Battery Post and Terminal Cleaner - Wire Brush, # DW00254, and some elbow grease to clean out the weldnuts. Once clean,...

  • Trailer Hitch Fits for 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport
There are two primary causes for a hitch fit to appear incorrect when you go to install it. If the shipping carrier subjected the hitch to rough handling - one good drop from a truck will do it - the alignment of the mounting flange holes can be off, making it all but impossible to install it without first re-bending it back to its original dimensions. This kind of shipping damage can be hard to detect until you go to mount the hitch. The hitch can look perfect but still be bent. The other...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2002 Jeep Liberty for Use with Weight Distribution
Here's what I would recommend. Since your trailer will be on the heavier side of the towing capacity of your 2002 Jeep Liberty you are going to want to be able to use weight distribution if at all possible. To accomplish that you can replace the Curt hitch you have with the Draw Tite hitch part # 75128 which is rated for weight distribution and would be a great solution. This way you don't have to return anything and you'll have the best towing setup available for your 2002 Jeep Liberty.

  • Availability of Ball Mount with 10 inch Rise for Class I Trailer Hitch on 2005 Jeep Liberty
The highest rise on a ball mount we currently offer that is compatible with a Class I trailer hitch is the Curt # C45028, which has a rise of 5-3/8 inches. Higher rise ball mounts are only compatible with higher rated hitches. If you need this additional rise to tow your trailer level with your 2005 Jeep Liberty, I recommend changing to a Class III trailer hitch like the Draw-Tite Max Frame # 75128.
