Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The quality of the trailer hitch is very good. There was some paint that had chipped off the edge exposing bare metal which needed to be protected but otherwise I am very satisfied with the product.
installed this on my 2019 Mazda CX-9. Took about 20 mins. Make sure to add loctite to boots and torque it down to specs. I highly recommend watching the [online] videos on the install. Makes it much easier. Super easy install and the hitch looks great! Highly recommend this with the welded bracket. Keeps wiring in place and much prettier looking.
Bolted up perfectly, pulled a uhaul trailer across three states. Also works great with my motorcycle hitch rack. No reason to look any further!
Installation will certainly go faster with a second person helping. Doing it myself it took me close to an hour to complete. I didn't bother putting the car up on jacks and found there to be sufficient room to maneuver.
The install video on the site is super helpful and all that's really needed. It does help clear up the paper instructions that come with the hitch.
I used a strap to support the exhaust pipe and like someone else mentioned also utilized an overturned 2 gallon bucket to support the muffler while getting it off the hangers. There was enough clearance for the bucket to slide right underneath, but I was parked a very mild grade.
I was able to get it off the mounts with just WD-40 . Since I didn't jack up the car, I was able to leverage my body weight and the fact that car was sitting on all four wheels to pull the rubber mounts off without a pry bar. I sat with my legs under the car and grabbing each side of the rubber mount was able to work them off.
I found the rear mounts were far easier to get off than the front.
Once I got the mounts off, I removed the supporting bucket and loosened the straps to lower the exhaust further.
I then used the bucket to support the weight of the hitch as I got it in position. Leaving the guide wires in place for the bolts helped me align the hitch since I was working alone.
The paper instructions mention using the washer to pinch the bolt in place to make it easier to get the nut on without the bolt being pushed up into the hole. This was particularly key to doing the install alone and one handed.
Once you get one bolt attached the rest goes faster and is a lot easier.
A deep socket and extension bar was critical in getting the bolts on to the proper torque. Without the deep socket I was able to get the hitch bolted on tight enough to drive to the hardware store to get the deeper socket to then torque to 110 ft/lbs as per the instructions.
Once I got the hitch attached, I simply reversed the process by again using the assistance of the bucket to support the exhaust as I got it back on the hangers.
A bucket or some other easy to maneuver item to help support the exhaust and hitch were definitely key in attempting to do this yourself.
Installed on a 2020 Mazda CX-9. It tucks right up under the bumper so is un-obtrusive when not being used, but works great when we need to tow the camper. Love it!
I was very pleased with the quick turnaround on my order. The product itself appears to be well made and was reasonable to install, although considering the size and weight of the hitch, it would have gone much more quickly with an extra pair of hands. This hitch was installed on a 2016 Mazda CX-9. The one issue I had was with the lower trim panel that had to be removed for the installation. After bolting up the hitch, I realized that I was not going to be able to get the trim panel back into position with the hitch bolted all the way up, and had to drop it some by loosening the bolts in order to get the trim between the hitch and the mounting points. Once I started retightening the bolts, I found that the hitch was pulling the middle of the trim piece up causing the two ends of the trim to splay downward. Snug is good but too snug can cause some problems. It is not a biggie because it is for the most part not easily seen by the casual observer, but if the manufacturer would like to make a good product better, they might take a look at dropping the hitch down just a bit in order to provide some relief between the hitch and the trim piece.
Nice price, fast shipping, and easy install with the available videos. Less than two hours to install the hitch and the wiring. Looks great and I saved a bundle. Comes with everything you need for a professional DIY install.
Fit nicely on my 2016 Mazda CX-9 Signature. Installation is straight forward but you do need to be handy. Or have a pro install it, it should take them only 30 minutes. I also purchased the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat 18144 and the Tekonsha Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring 118278 which does fit all 2016 CX-9s (all '16 CX-9s have the harness already installed). Photos attached of my install in case this helps.
The installation video is really helpful. If you follow along, installation will be a snap. A couple of things I ran into -- this is really a two person job. I was working alone, so I pressed a floor jack into service to help support the hitch when I was mounting it to the car frame. Do yourself a favor and get a deep 7/8" socket to torque down the nuts. Otherwise a pretty straightforward install. It looks great on the CX-9 and I'm looking forward to my first tow.
No issues installing on 2021 Mazda CX-9. Looks good installed and is not an eye sore. Best part is that does not interfere with hands free trunk opening sensors.
First, I want to give kiddos go such a thorough set of pictures, videos and resources in your website. Shipping was prompt and delivery was quick. My only feedback here is to provide the actual tracking #, to be able to use 3rd party apps.
The hitch looks well built and great finish. It comes with everything needed to do the install. I did the installed by myself in about 45 min.
Hitch was great fit for 2020 Mazda CX 9. Install was straight forward and took this mid 70’s guy about two hours to install with no assistance other than my floor jack and ratchet strap to support the exhaust. Fits well and only the 2” opening shows. Better yet was the outstanding service and assistance I received from Tommy C. I have ordered from etrailer for years and have yet to be disappointed.
Very heavy duty and the videos made installation a breeze. I was a bit nervous installing myself but really wasn't that big of a deal. Having two people hold the hitch up while I got a couple bolts on was definitely helpful. Now I just need to find a boat!
This hitch is a great product with no issues, and I was able to successfully and correctly install this hitch by myself without a jack in about 1.5 hours.
Installed on 2019 Mazda CX-9 in about an hour using etrailer's video. Parked with wheels on a curb to give me a few inches more room underneath. Removed and discarded "extra panel" in front of rear bumper per 2019 video. Be careful not to cut yourself on the heat shield while removing the panel, its edges are very sharp. Instructions asked for 110 ft-lb torque which was at the limit of my wrench.
Went on simple, and has been rock solid.
Installation was pretty easy thanks to a very detailed and to the point video. My main concern was lowering the muffler without damaging it - i am not a mechanic and never done it before, but that ended up being an easy part. WD-40 helps a lot sliding rubber holding muffler to the point when sliding it back on takes two minutes. Hardest thing for me though was holding actual frame (i was doing the job alone) and aligning it to attach to the bolts. I used small plastic bucket and put frame on it after sliding it above dropped muffler to put it in a position to attach to the bolts. Then i would lift it up little by little and would put under the bucket little one inch sheets of plywood i found laying around in my garage lifting the frame finally to the level where i could attach the frame finally to the bolts. It did take me an hour to install the product on my brand new Signature.
I can’t say enough good things about this transaction. Got it in three days, outstanding video that showed exactly how to install hitch and wiring and fantastic price on quality class III hutch. Installed hitch and wiring in less than two hours. Thank you so much. Only regret was I didn’t order wire harness bracket For hitch and plug for receiver when I could have saved on shipping. My fault.
Hitch delivered on time as promised. It was packed pretty well but had a few places that needed to be painted as the paint was knocked off to the bare metal. Installation was very easy. I am going to order a second one for another vehicle after the busy Christmas season and hope it's not damaged. Overall I'm happy with etrailer.
Well designed and quality product. With the aid of the video, I was able to install the receiver and wiring with very little issues in a timely manner.
I wanted a two inch receiver and concealed trailer wiring which was not available from the dealer.
I would recommend this product without hesitation.
Installation videos, instructions, and materials made it easy. Step by step instructions were clear for a hassle free job. I’ve used the hitch on several long trips, and it has performed flawlessly.
Took time but easy to install myself with trailer videos. Has worked excellent.
I have not used the hitch yet, my bike rack from etrailer is on the way, but the installation was so easy on my 2021 Mazda CX-9. My friend and I watched the install video and the actual install took us around 30 minutes. I opted for the Draw-Tite rack because of the bracket to accommodate the wiring harness if I choose to install that later.
EASY PEASY!! 30 - 40 minute install by myself! After lowering the exhaust a couple inches as described in the video I feed the spring wires with the nut plate and nut thru the frame (very easy if you bend the last 1" of the wire near 90 degrees and feed it so the end is pointed down it will pop right out the bolt hole).
Once I had all 4 bolts in place I moved the hitch near the back of the car at this point I place my floor jack under the center of the hitched and while holding it in place I was able to roll it into position and feed the nut wires thru the appropriate hole in the hitch.
After starting the rear facing nut onto the bolt i did the same on the other side of the car , with 2 nuts on I lowered the jack and the hitch rotated right up against the frame allowing me to add the 2 remaining bolts .
Once all the bolts were torques I replaced the exhaust mounts and had a cold one.
IF only all car related task went so well great product cant wait to us it looks like it should for the money quality thru out....
I’ve ordered many items from ETRAILER and all have been quality , delivered quickly and the installation videos are excellent. I think I’m up to 4 trailer hitches now and installations have been very easy.
