Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I suggest that you have a friend help out, especially when mounting the hitch with bumper support. It will save you countless amounts of grief. I'm using this solely for a Oneup bike rack that will be used a single 99% of the time and no towing. The end result looks factory with the receiver tube the only part of the hitch that is visible. Just take your time removing and installing the bumper so no clips are broken, my friend used a heat gun to warm up the area since it was a pretty cold day when we installed it, he has experience in autobody repair. We reused the pushpin on the fender well instead of using the supplied pins.
Hitch lined up perfectly and installation with help from the video was a breeze. Able to do it myself, was skeptical of having to remove bumper but everything came apart nicely. Looks great with the bar hidden behind the bumper. Only bad thing was how the package arrived. Part of the hitch had busted through the side of the box and on the inside I was expecting the product to be a little more protected. Again, product itself was great, packing not the greatest.
This was the second hitch that I have installed on my second new Subaru. The written instructions and video showing the step by step procedures are excellent. I would suggest to have an extra person just for an extra set of hands. The installation took about an hour. The hardest part is convincing yourself that it is "ok" to remove a brand new bumper off a brand new car and not really knowing how to do it. That is where the video was really useful. Just take your time and it is really easy. This is a great fit and nice looking hitch.
2 hour install with my wife assisting and taking our time. Amazingly we broke no plastic connectors and the install came out perfect, but for our trim level of 2022 Outback, there were a few more connectors that needed to come out in the rear wheel well area around the mud flaps (which may not exist on all models). Also, the plastic rivets are pretty much useless unless you have a special tool which is not mentioned. Take care of the ones that come out in the upper wheel well because they can be re-used if still functioning properly after removal. I even had a good pop rivet gun to fit various sizes, but it didn't have big enough holes for those plastic rivets and I wasn't sure it needed a permanent connection there anyway. Nonetheless, take your time, have a patient partner and the job isn't too bad..just nerve racking removing the full painted plastic panel and cutting it..particularly on a brand new car! Lay down a nice big blanket to prevent scratches because it is kind of floppy when it comes off. The end result came out looking way better than our older Outback with the factory hitch. The dealer wanted $900, it required a special scheduled appointment, and we did the whole thing with parts delivered to our door in a couple of hours for about $[XX] with wiring and everything and it came out as good or better than the dealer installed option.
Easier to run the cable through out the spare tire and attach the connector to the hitch outside.
The hitch fit perfectly. Your video was helpful. I did not expect to receive the hitch this early. As soon as UPS dropped it off I got busy on the installation. took me a little longer because I could not find my torque wrench. Thanks
received the trailer hitch for 2022 subaru outback wilderness. came two days early (thank you!). hitch went without a hitch. installed easily, just as the instructions explained. installed the plug system for the trailer as delivered. also went exactly as explained. extremely satisfied with the purchase, quality, instructions everything provided by e trailer. will not hesitate to contact you in the future when i need any towing assistance.
Very good video instructions overall. Hitch doesn't hang on stud like stated in video. It will fall off. So have someone hold it on until you get bumper back on and two nuts on the studs. Looks great.
I also recommend the Curt wiring harness because it is so easy to install.
I ordered the hitch online and had it installed at the dealer. It is a nice low profile appearance, compared to the hitches the dealer stocked. So far I have only used it to hold my Yakima bike rack.
Would never have bought this without watching the video etrailer made. Was very easy to install after watching. Went on exactly as shown. Was able to reuse all the old plastic fasteners, so did not have to use the plastic rivets provided. Super happy, took about an hour.
OK, here are three things you need to know about me going in to this review: 1) I am 78 years old; 2) I did this install completely by myself; 3) I probably watched the install video 25 times (stuff has further to go to sink in these days). This is my 3rd hitch from etrailer over the years and I have found if one watches the video, and exactly emulates the process, it'll be easy. May take some time, but its not hard. So, the tail lights are a snap, follow the movie. The wrap-around fascia was the monster in my mind - but turned out to be quite straight forward. I will recommend one have on hand a rivet tool at the outset. The rivets come with the hitch but not the tool, and they won't fit a regular rivet tool. I know they use two people in the movie, but if one will pull both sides loose and then the center portion, it will come right off. It probably weighs 25 pounds, easily handled, and I had a pad spread out to put it on. When one gets to this point, there is but one electrical sensor to take off the bumper beam, before you remove it, and you've arrived. Its interesting that Subaru didn't seal the bumper beam mounting area with "something." etrailer has the better idea here, because the channels could take on water, which would be slow in getting out. Any good silicone sealer should be fine. Be sure and torque the hardware, even if you have to rent a torque wrench. The hitch is just heavy enough that a second pair of hands would be great. However, I found that a 4 wheeled jack's round cup was a great place to sit the hitch to maneuver it into perfect position and eliminate the frenzy of getting those first two flange nuts on. I'm attaching 3 photos - more for kidding than anything else, but there is a serious thought about the shot named Midway. You may feel intimidated seeing that, but remember what you're seeing is simply a number of goodies that simply hide behind a cowling. It's not really as hard as it seems. So, watch the install videos, have a can-do mindset, and prepare yourself with a source of any tools you may not have. Phew!
We installed the DT94MR (Drawtite 76333) hitch receiver on our Subaru 2022 Outback. The hitch receiver arrived two days early. We both watched the [video] installation then set to work. First thing we did was open the box to make certain that the hitch "looked like" the one that we ordered and that the supplied parts were all there. Everything looked great. We proceeded to take off the bumper and install the hitch receiver. Everything worked very well in spite of a difficulty rating of 10/10. A great company and a great product.
This is my second install of a Draw-Tite hitch receiver on a Subaru Outback.
I would add to the installation instructions that the bumper skin tabs closest to the taillights are easiest to install if you pick up the skin before snapping each side into place. This makes all the difference. I reused the plastic fasteners holding the bumper skin to the fender at the wheel arch - negating the need for a plastic rivet tool. I wish Draw-Tite had included a small tube of silicone too, as this would have saved me a trip to the local hardware store.
My install this time took 45 min from tools ready to final mudflap screw tightened. I saved a TON of money vs the factory hitch and the install is really easy the second time around.
It looks good (nothing but the receiver is visible), and is perfect for my bike rack and for occasionally towing my boat from our cabin to the local boat ramp.
The hitch is self explanatory on the installation, but the video provided by Etrailer is perfect reassurance for any home installer. I very much like how the only portion of the hitch to hang below the rear bumper-trim is the 2" receiver, very nice and clean. The only gripe I have about this kit is the plastic rivets that are supposed to be used in place of the plastic push-pin clips for the bumper trim. These plastic rivets requires a rivet gun for plastic rivets, which most people don't have. It would have been better to provide the replacement plastic push-in clips, instead of these cheap rivets.
Awesome website and product!! The videos are helpful and make installation easy.
Thank you for including the installation video. It helped tremendously with disassembling the rear bumper and tail lights. The overall install was fairly easy and just requires some time to perform it. Thank you!

Looks great on our Subaru Outback. Easy installation.
An outstanding trailer hitch for Subaru Outbacks with my only nitpick being a few chips in the black powder coat, but then what can one expect in "Great-Again" America?
Perfect fit, great you tube install video. Wish there was an alternative fastener for the plastic rivets. Great product.
Easier to install than it looked. Nice tight mount and well made.
Have not been able to install yet, just got it yesterday. However, the quality appears to be top notch and looking forward to installing it soon!
This hitch is awesome, even with the back bumper so it can be used for a fold up bike rack, nothing visible except the receiver... HOWEVER, installation is a nightmare... the video makes it look simple but the guy needed to slow down and give more detail.. for example, removing the tail lights, he show just wiggle it out... nope, you need to really work with it and it's critical that you pull it straight back, I broke a tail light housing by putting outward force on it... need to buy a new one... you're going to break some of the retaining clips, I ordered an assortment from [online] for $20... you also need a nylon or plastic rivet gun, again from [online], another $20... I'm very mechanical but this project took me 5 hours... You can do it, just be careful...
Installed easily and does everything it is supposed to
Super Fast Shipping and great trailer h itch.
Quality product. Great installation video resulted in an easy install. A note that the hardware comes in the receiver opening would have saved a lot of stress.
