This custom-fit trailer hitch with a hidden cross tube installs behind your vehicle's rear bumper, leaving only the receiver visible beneath it. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly. Powder coat finish resists rust.The hitch was perfect and a super easy install. Probably two hours at most from start to finish. Trickiest part is the plastic clips for the bumper cover, everything else was just a few screws and bolts. Once installed it is totally concealed except the receiver and doesn't impact ground clearance at all.
The i3 doesn't have any options for roof racks, so this provides several options. I don't plan to tow any heavy items, but will use this for yard trailer and hitch mounted rack.
Christopher - 12/12/2021I installed this ecohitch on my 2018 bmw i3s with REX. It fit really well. There is couple of things on my 2018 different from the installation pdf (2014 model), but I can easily find what to do to remove my bumper, the rear door lock antenna need to be relocated because on 2018 it was in interferance. Be really carefull when you pry on the clips on the bumper ends they broke easily, go from inisde the fender to pry on those end clips.
The unther braket (triangle one) didn't fit, I needed to correct the angle to have it fit (10 min more job). But overall pretty happy with the results. I carry a 3 bike rack and the hitch hold well. Bike rack is 52 pounds, with 28 pounds each bike.
It also fit the REX model but the heat generated be the exhaust can burn the paint on the triangle and rust can appear (not in my case after several rex running hours)
Easy install. It took about 3 hours with breaks. I used tin snips and a hacksaw to cut the bumper and wire harness holder and it worked well. Can’t wait to try it out with my bike rack.
It’s neat and sturdy. However some rusty discolouration appeared over some edges and corner after a few rainy days. Just wonder if this is normal and safety level is not affected. Would like to know if anything I can do to prevent it from deterioration
Sierra K - 05/18/2022Shipping box does not secure the hitch. It was bouncing around apparently. Dug into bag of parts crimping the trim. Otherwise easy install. Left end of hitch mount was tighter than right. Bolted the right side and hammered the left into position. Is the brace bar supposed to be squared to the hitch? Painted the brace bolts black for a low vis appearance. Very stout parts.
Great product. Instructions were pretty good. There are some good install videos online that are very helpful.
The ‘C’ clamps that fit over the OEM impact rail are a little tight, but a few taps with a rubber mallet put it into position easily.
I remember thinking ‘Do I really need to relocate the antennae? seems to be out of the way.’ Yes, yes you do!
I love everything about this hitch, but mostly I am excited about being able to transport bikes in my i3. The told necessary were minimal (sockets, torque wrench, Dremel) and the instructions were clear. The images are in black and white, and take a bit to figure out what it is they are showing, but they are thorough. I was able to do the whole thing by myself, although an additional person would have made it way faster. Now I'm off to get a hitch bike rack. Thl

Installation is straight forward. Easily accomplished by someone with basic mechanical skills. The hitch is the best solution for someone who is into cycling and wants to mount a bike rack. Highly recommend.
Product arrived within 2 days, solid quality, good price, instructions were not perfect but there are plenty of videos that show you how to do it
Great product. Hitch receiver for our 2017 i3 came with detailed installation instructions, including torque settings for key fasteners. The receiver fit perfectly and the result is clean and professional-looking.
