The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.
With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.
This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

This custom-fit trailer hitch with a hidden cross tube installs behind your vehicle's rear bumper, leaving only the receiver visible beneath it. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly. Powder coat finish resists rust. The hitch was reasonably easy to install. It took me a few hours with the biggest difficulty being cutting the bottom of the plastic Fascia to the right size and putting all the rear plastic back on the car.
Since attaching the hitch, it has worked perfectly. It looks good too. Friends with Bolts are surprised to see my car with a hitch. I use the hitch to hold a bike rack. The rack installs and can be removed just as easily as on the hitch on our Subaru, which was professionally installed. I've never experienced the hitch or the rack hitting the ground when going in our out of driveways or other places.
Nice to not have to use gasoline to transport bicycles, which obviously also don't use gas.
This is great! Installation was pretty straight forward and took about 2 hours. I used the etrailer video but didn't find the instructions (inside the saran-wrapped tow hitch!) until after I completed everything. For my 2019 Bolt, I recommend cutting out a 5" wide x 6" deep slot from the fascia, which is the only reason I needed the instructions. EcoHitch says the difficulty is 10/10, but that can't be true. I think it's a 4/10 max. I used a similar hitch from etrailer for my 2012 Outback and it went similarly smoothly.
The EcoHitch Hidden receiver hitch is well-made, fairly easy to install, and looks good compared to some other brands of hitch I looked at. The only part you can see from the rear of the vehicle is the receiver itself. The rest of the frame is well-hidden up behind the bumper. I'm very happy with this purchase for my 2020 Chevy Bolt.
Great product. Relatively easy install. Video was super helpful in making the install a success. A shallow T15 socket tool is essential to fit in the wheel well. Give yourself time and an extra set of hands to do this well; took me approx 3 hrs.
Solid fit on a 2018 bolt with no issues for the bumper sensors or lights. Installation was as described by most reviews; it's a little more involved than just tightening some bolts, but doable for a moderately handy person with the right tools. A 1-2 hour job depending on your proficiency.
It works great with the 50lb two bike tray style bike rack we have, and has weathered three winters with no evidence of corrosion (no salt on our roads though). There are no clearance issues for regular driving, but you have to be cognizant when going up/down steep driveways with severe angles that it does decrease your departure angle slightly. That said, it is much lower profile than alternatives I have seen. I would strongly recommend a 2" hitch over the much less versatile 1.25" type.
This is an amazing product! It is the 3rd car which I equipped with etrailer hitch and this is by far the best! Easy to install and since it attaches in place of the old bumper, it is solid to take any weight! Simple, solid, indestructible design. I am very happy with it! Mark
Solidly constructed hitch. Excellent customer support from eTrailer. Works well on my Chevy Bolt to support my heavy bike rack. One note: check the distance from the end of the hitch to the hole that holds the pin. I needed to drill an additional hole in the rack so I could fasten it to the hitch.
My wife and I did the installation. The install video was very helpful for the install. The bumper cut out instructions were for the 2021 bolt but worked great for our 2020 bolt.
This is a super heavy duty hitch receiver that unfortunately threw a giant hole in the side of the box during shipping but was otherwise unscathed. Installation is pretty easy, just remember to plug back in your wiring harness! Overall was fun to learn how the bumper comes off of the back of the car and seeing that my car is indeed accident free!
Build quality is quite good! I installed this a year ago and e-trailer was ahead: if you look at u-haul for a Bolt, they are now offering the Eco Hitch to buy/install.
Unless you already have a host of 1 1/4" accessories, the 2" is much more versatile. For the '23 the installation instructions do not address the little pop-out panel on the plastic bumper cover and imply to just throw it away. I carefully cut mine to fit and reinstalled after the hitch. I will post a few pictures soon.
Awesome hitch. Protects my car in the rear, very heavy duty and easy to install for a Sunday mechanic. More heavy duty than my 2017 Chevy Bolt EV could ever handle towing. I like things to be over engineered. Delivery was excellent, no issues whatsoever. Wish everything was like that.
We installed this Receiver on a new Chevy Bolt. It works great for both a Thule bike rack and a utility trailer but shows signs of surface rust after one winter. Vermont winters are harsh on vehicles, not sure if any other product would have done any differently.
The hitch fits my '21 Bolt EV LT perfectly, and the installation was pretty easy with the supplied instructions. Without the instructions I would probably never have found all the hidden screws to remove the bumper cover. The hitch is not cheap but it mounts really well and seems very solid. I highly recommend it.
I got this for my 2021 Chevy Bolt EV and got it installed at a local car stereo / motorsports shop for ~$[XX]. Maybe if you know someone you can get it installed for cheaper.
In any case, the hitch itself is perfect. It's rugged and holds my 2-bike bike rack like a charm. It attaches directly to the inner car frame so it's completely solid and stable.
Some information online made it sound like they would have to cut a part of the plastic under panel to make space for the hitch, but on this model it looks like there's a removable panel that they just took off and it was perfectly sized for the hitch to fit through. It looks like it was built in after installation.
I'm just a regular happy customer and would totally buy this again. I actually ended up adding a hitch to my wife's 2022 lexus ux from this site as well after the positive experience from having this hitch installed.
The hitch was easy to install, although the instructions only included the 2021 and 2022 Bolts. The directions need to be modified for the 2023 Bolt. Step 1 has 4 screws, not just 2 screws. Step 4 uses a small bolt. I was able to reattach the lights after I put the bumper back on, but it probably would've been easier if I had done it before reattaching the bumper.
Works as we had hoped.
I haul a 100 pound ebike, and a 55 pound one one a study fold-down carrier without any concerns.
One of the best purchases we have made.
Thank you for a quality product Trailer.
Great hitch. Very simple bolt-under existing bumper bar design. Taking off the plastic trim is a bit of a headache, and you have to remove the EV's version of the EUV hitch breakout, but not a hard job overall. Highly recommend.
This is an excellent trailer hitch. It was easy to install on my Chevrolet Bolt. I have hauled motorcycles, bicycles, and utility trailer. Would certainly recommend.
Great hitch and super easy to install! I didn't receive a template for cutting the bumper like the installation video said I would, but I was able to measure it out and get it right. Very easy to install the rest though.
Hitch is well made and shipping was ok from Us to Quebec canada thanks
This hitch is more expensive than some of the other offerings for the Bolt but there is none stronger. This thing is bomb proof and perfect for carrying my bike rack. Installation was very easy, watch the video. I do not like the inch and a quarter receivers which is why I like this racks two inch receiver. Very Strong. Spend the extra money!!

This product has been great for carrying my bicycle rack. Very strong and wiggle proof. I use a One Up rack and the combo is great.
Excellent product with great fit. Installation instructions could be more detailed - better to watch a video.
I just use it for a bike rack. But the bike rack is heavy. No problems at all with the rack at all, once it was installed.
I'd been a bit bummed installing it because in the instructions it just tells you to put the car pieces back on in the reverse order. But if you do, you end up having to take the hitch back down to thread the car wires through first. Hopefully they have revised the instructions over the last year.

Guess the highest praise is that I dont even think about it. I just use it and it works
Like all things in the world today, it took a while to get here from the factory. However, since the video posted on etrailer website explained so clearly what tools I'd need and the process of removing and replacing the parts on the Bolt, I was thoroughly prepared when it showed up on the UPS truck. I'm impressed with how it fits and the relative ease of installation. The 2" receiver is just the right height and length for my bike rack, too. Anyone with a Chevy Bolt should have one of these hitches if you want to carry bikes or put a cargo rack to carry camping gear, etc.
Installation time was very reasonable, just a bit longer than an hour, with two people. It was a simple installation, and based on the recommendation of another reviewer, I used a little of the Loctite blue threadlocker. The vehicle's bumper mount studs do extend a wee bit past the nuts after tightening down, so that was good. I plan to use the tow receiver for a bike rack and my ham radio antenna mast mount. Glad the instructions included the torque specifications included, and an etrailer video on YouTube was also extremely helpful in getting all the required tools ready. I feel pretty good about this installation. We have a 2018 Bolt and needed to cut a "T" shaped cutout on the fascia, basically a 5"x3" wide, then 3" x 5" long. The cut was centered and fits nicely. We noticed on the first cut that was undersized that it prevented popping the fascia back into place nicely, so a careful accurate cut to fit is important.
