Hidden Design for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight when you're not towing. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once installed, the cross tube will be completely concealed and only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. But unlike other hitches with hidden cross tubes, the Stealth goes one further. You can remove the receiver portion of the hitch for a completely out-of-sight setup. To mount the receiver, just insert it up into the access port that is built into the cross tube. Secure the receiver to the hitch with the supplied bolt and washers. When you're done towing, just remove the receiver portion to return your vehicle to its clean, factory appearance.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Stealth trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

My initial concerns about removing and reinstalling the bumper fascia were not warranted. The installation went well and was exactly as described in the etrailer.com video. Took about 2 hours and I am very pleased with the outcome.

One year later and no complaints! I take the receiver off in the winter. Highly recommend!

Watched the video and in less than two hours it was done. I might have ordered the Stealth hitch if I were to do over. I don’t think I’ll remove the receiver often-it’s kind of a pain. Great product otherwise.

Had the trailer hitch installed now for a year. Installation was $500 since you have to remove the bumper and cut it but you can't tell it's there when it's off, which is the trade-off to the difficult install. When the hitch receiver is installed, I tend to scrape on driveways as it sits beneath the bumper so I unmount it when not in use. I tow my jet ski with it and it works great. Would recommend.

2019 Tesla Model 3

This hitch is the cat's meow for a 2019 Model 3. I would add one thing to etrailer's otherwise excellent DIY videos. When wiring the trailer plug adapter, you do *not* need to run a wire all the way outside the car to the 'frunk.' Instead, you merely remove the back seat bottom--slide two tabs toward the left-hand side of the car, lift the front first, then pull forward, and unclip the bun warmers--and attach the AWG #12 power wire to the rear end of the 12V battery cable. Then just remove the trim panel at the right-hand side of the seat and pass the wire through a grommet into the trunk.

I’ve bought several times from etrailer and things have always worked out seamlessly. The video and paper instructions for this hitch for the Tesla Model 3 was especially complete. (Might have spent a few seconds more on “the missing bolt” and the overlap of the felt and plastic underbodies. This was the ONLY place where I had even the smallest difficulty.) I highly recommend.

Perfect... It was my first time installing a hitch. I own a company and I work with computers, so I'm not in the mechanics at all. Very nice tutorials online, steps by steps, so just to take your time and be careful and it should go well :-)

2018 Tesla Model 3

I watched the installation video & read thru the instructions. Everything was pretty straight forward. It would have been easier to install if I lifted my car like in the video, but it was doable while on the floor. My 13year old son was my helper and it was great bonding time! As you can see by the pics, my cargo shelf sits pretty low when loaded, but the Model 3 handled everything with grace! EAP didn't have any problems and having the hitch helped me with carrying more product to a trade show I went to this past weekend!

This hitch is beefy! It weighs 52 pounds and is clearly well made. The installation wasn't the easiest, but wasn't the hardest either, given that you have the right tools. Plastic panel removers are a must! As soon as the bumper cover and the bumper are off, it's a breeze to put this thing on. There was a very slight issue with with bracket holes not aligning (literally in the mm), but with a quick mallet bump, this turned out to be not an issue. I love that they also included the nylon washers to prevent galvanic corrosion, this is a sure sign of a well-engineered product. Highly recommend this product!

Finally had a chance to get this installed. Followed the video and everything was as stated. Pretty easy overall. Just got a littler nervous taking apart a brand new car. Definitely need an extra pair of hands when removing the back facia and putting it back on. I have a 2019 M3 and found that the belly pan came with a small hatch where the hitch tow hook adaptor drops down below the belly pan. Because of this, I did not cut out the hole in the belly pan as shown in the video. I will just use the hatch opening that has been provided...remove the access panel when I am towing and then replace the hatch cover when I'm done. My guess is that this hatch in the belly pan is a design change to accommodate the European models where hitches can be ordered from Tesla.

I have used the hitch extensively and it is delivering great utility and satisfaction. A great product! Only thing missing is a way to connect safety chains. Highly recommend the product!

The paper directions that come with this unit aren’t very helpful. The pictures are tiny, dark and b/w. However, the video online was awesome! Should have started with that. The unit is very well made and went on easily. Excited to use it!

I had it installed by my local shop (Mega Automotive Group) in Rockville MD. Overall looks good and feels very solid. Removing the Hitch Receiver does not seem to be as easy as I thought. It is not something you want to do regularly. May be when you are sure you will not be using it for a long period of time.

Custom designed for the Tesla. A key component for me is that the hitch can be completely removed so during the half of the year when no hitch is needed I can remove it and the mount is hidden from view or air flow. Excellent design. The install time is worth the effort.

recommend for all tesla owners without hitch. install took about 5 hours including having to replace a rusted trunk lid stop (fun fact, replacement part cost $0.59!!). i now use the hitch with a 2" bike rack that weights about 60 lbs plus 4 bikes and like the ease of use, convenience, and stability. install improvement recommendations: 1. state which tools will be needed, 10mm socket, etc in directions 2. mask off metal part of the car (on both sides of the car) that attaches to the bumper. i had two people reinstalling bumper and still managed to make minor paint scratch. 3. link to video install. i watched about 20 videos before reading instructions to make this easy.

This is a great product. I had it installed by my body shop when I was getting some other work done, so I can’t speak to the installation process. But the end result is great – I use it on my Tesla Model 3 with my 2 inch receiver bike rack from 1-up. No problems whatsoever.

  • Compatibility of EcoHitch Stealth Hitch Receiver # 306-X7373 on 2020 Tesla Model 3
The EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7373 is a fit for the 2020 Tesla Model 3. The EcoHitch is completely hidden behind the bumper and has a removable square receiver tube. The receiver tube unbolts from the cross body of the hitch. When you put the receiver tube back in the hitch you have to tighten the bolt down. • Installing EcoHitch Stealth Receiver on 2020 Tesla Model 3 and Concerns with Vehicle Rust
That is a great question. Installing the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7373 does indeed require that a 3-1/2" or 4" oval be cut on the underbody trim to allow clearance for the 2" drop-down receiver. Since the drop-down receiver can actually be removed when you aren't towing, I definitely see your concern about this opening a door for the elements to creep in and potentially cause rust issues over time with the frame. Luckily EcoHitch has already thought of this, as...

The installation instructions for the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7373 call for either a 3-1/2 inch or 4 inch hole saw. The advantage for the larger 4 inch hole is just more hand clearance to allow for easier mounting when inserting the receiver. I honestly just recommend going with the smallest possible hole (3-1/2 inches) as I'm sure you aren't overly enthused to cut into your Tesla's bumper fascia. It does not matter which hole size you use with regards to installing...
