Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I installed the hitch on a 2005 Acura MDX. Was easy, and with another set of hands a breeze to install. The quality of the hitch is great, and my experience with other Draw-Tite hitches in the past has been terrific. This is the fourth hitch I have ordered from Etrailer, and each time has been a pleasure. Their selection, ease of website, and great customer service keeps me coming back. My next project is a 2012 CX7. I'll be in touch soon! Thanks Again, Frank D

Comments
Frank, I have a 2006 MDX. Did you have to modify the bumper trim kit in any way for the receiver?
-- comment by: Mark - 03/03/2015

There is a under-vehicle fascia piece that has to be removed for the hitch to be installed. You do not have to cut or modify it though, so if you ever want to remove the hitch, it can be re-installed. Check out the video I linked to, the 2:20 mark or so.

I purchased the Draw-Tite trailer hitch because of their reputation, they cost a little more but it was demonstrated they are a superior product. Installation was very easy, exactly as shown. I definitely would purchase this product again. Excellent quality.

I've had this hitch receiver for 1 year this month and it has been fantastic. I use it to tow 2 ATV's. I installed it on a 2008 honda pilot. I was able to get it in place without having to completely drop the exhaust or the tire. The driver side had a tow hook in place and was easy to install this on that side. The other side had 12 years of road grime on it and it required a tapping set to clean up the threads so I could get the bolts to go in and get the passenger side tightened down.

I have used my new trailer hitch to tow a 5x8 landscaping trailer and have used it about a half a dozen times so far without issue. I am totally pleased with my purchase and would definitely consider purchasing other products from etrailer.com.

Received right on schedule. Bolted the hitch to my floor jack, through one of the safety chain loops, rolled it into position. Lined up the holes (I had already cleaned the threads) in went the bolts....done. took me less than fifteen minutes from opening the box. 2004 Honda Pilot.

Installed on '93 Honda Pilot in 1 1/2 hours while installing new Tow Ready 4- Flat Universal Mounting Bracket (118149) and Tow Ready One Connector wiring harness (118336). Easy install, did not have any trouble cleaning out those previously unused bolt holes on the right side, used wire brush and penetrating lube. Installed tow bar supported on top of grand kids red wagon with side rails, no extra hands required. Did not have to lower exhaust, only removed tow hook from left side. Fits snugly with good clearance from frame and muffler. Tow bar can barely be seen except for receiver.

Easy order process, great price and great product. I'm much slower than the other guys in terms of time to install. Took me about 4 hrs, with no helper. Time was significantly extended by having to clean up the 3 threaded bolt holes on the passenger side. Had to rent tool from Auto Zone, and still took a lot of PB Blaster, wire brushing to even get the clean up tool to start into the lead in threads. Then was like 1 - 2 turns, back it out, and repeat.... for all three holes. ~2 hrs later, all the bolt holes were clean and easily accepted the new bolts. Other than that, no real issues. Great instructional videos for Receiver and Wire kit. This is my second purchase from ETrailer, and will def be my online go-to site for all my trailer needs.

I purchased the receiver for a friend that wanted to be able to minimize hauling everything inside and be able to transport a luggage carrier and bike rack when needed. She was very surprised at how easy it was to install. From online ordering to installation the process was very user friendly. Quality product and great service.

Love the hitch! It went on relatively easily and looks great installed. Not a hitch issue, per se, but I realized later I should have dropped the spare to make the install easier, since the spare appears pinched between the hitch and the rear body now that I cranked down all the bolts. Also, install time was lengthened due to rusting of the uncovered threads on the muffler side of the vehicle. I used wd-40, the old bolts, and a lot of patience to make the threads useable from 4+ years of disuse. Someone recommended using a tap-kit to "freshen up" the threads. I would have gotten the proper tap if I hadn't done the install at night. Again, this is a vehicle problem, not a hitch kit problem. Heh. We also learned that hitch covers get stolen, so we'll be ordering locking hitch receiver cover next time.

Very high quality product, arrived in excellent condition. Very easy to install with the video online was helpful, I didn't lower the muffler as the instruction said. From the time to open the box and completed the installation is 33 mins, I did used the jack to support the center of the trailer hitch to make installation much easy for myself. Now it's look fantastic love black gloss and it's made in "USA", Etrailer, you guys "ROCK"....

Excellent Product. Installation was so simple product could be renamed Draw-Tite's Easy-Fit hitch. Etrailer.com installation video was also excellent. The Installation Team (Me [67 years] & Wife {64 years]) reported absolutely no problems during installation. Highly recommend both Etrailer.com website and Draw-Tite trailer hitch. Post-installation photo attached (just before cranking spare back up into place and tools cleanup). Hitch wiring was subsequently installed, also with no problems. Etrailer.com installation video for that was also excellent.

by:
2005 Honda Pilot

It's impossible to over emphasize how easy the installation was. I was prepared to lower the exhaust (as suggested in the video), but after eye-balling the hitch and where it needed to go, I just placed it on a hydraulic floor jack, slowly raised it and scooted it into position, then secured it into place. One person, forty minutes, and done.

Comments
After a year of towing, no problems. In hindsight, I would have preferred a wiring kit that mounted permanently to the hitch instead of having to fish the harness through the hatchback each time. Also, the little metal loop the chain threads through is smaller on one side than the other which has caused a little gnashing of teeth, but overall, still very happy and would buy again.

Great and solid! Delivery was SO FAST TOO. Dude at etrailer wrapped it up on a Sunday night!?!? I got a shipped email like 3 hrs after purchase! Bam! Very pleased to get it 2 days later especially with free shipping. Kudos to etrailer! A side note: the bolt holes on honda pilot on the passenger side were open from the factory, the driver side has a tow hook with bolts in it. The driver side was fairly easy to attach however the swelling of holes on the passenger side i had to gently TAP for threads to go. Just FYI may be a slight pain depending on year or condition of the frame on your vehicle. That being said over all i am very pleased with the seller and the installation and build of this hitch. Hope this is helpful.

This is the second hitch I have purchased from e trailer. The hitch arrived on time and the installation directions were straight forward and thorough. The hitch was easy to install and is an excellent hitch. Although I did not have anyone available to help me, I was able to install the hitch in about 30 minutes (I am 72). The previous hitch was for my Toyota pickup and was also easy to install and an excellent hitch. I have also purchased two wiring harness and they are easy to install and an excellent product. Thank you for your great products, videos and service

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch arrived promptly and was ready to install right out of the box. Once the bolt holes on the Honda Pilot were well cleaned and free of rust as described on the etrailer hitch installation video, I was able to install the product by myself laying on the ground in about 15 minutes. Everything fit perfectly with no problems with my full-sized spare or the heat shield on the muffler. I'm now ready to attach my bike carrier and take off on a great adventure.

The trailer hitch itself is excellent. It fits well. It looks well manufactured, and it's easy to install, though you might want to get a friend to help you hold it in place while you put the first couple of bolts in. The packaging was terrible. They just tossed it into a cardboard box with no padding and nothing to keep it from sliding around. When it arrived, there was a hole about a foot long in the side of the box, presumably from where the hitch had slid and burst through the side of it. Thankfully all of the parts stayed inside and nothing was damaged.

  • Trailer Hitch for 2008 Honda Pilot that Allows Full Size Spare
The Draw Tite hitch # 75599 is a confirmed fit for her 2008 Honda Pilot and will fit with a full sized. In our install videos we've only had the chance to install this on a vehicle with a smaller spare, but it will fit with the full sized spare. For trailer wiring you'd then want the part # 118336. Having the 4-way run out of the back hatch is actually the preferred method although it seems like it wouldn't be. Having the 4-way stored inside the cab keeps it protected from rain and moisture...

It's a custom fit on your Pilot and I've attached an install video for you. You also need a ball mount, hitch pin, and hitch ball. We have a kit that includes several options of them all, part # 989900. First you need to determine the drop or rise you need with your trailer. I've linked an article to help with...

  • Should Rusty Hitch of 2006 Honda Pilot be Replaced
I wish I could say it covered rust as we know that's a pretty common occurrence for the hitches especially in Northern climates but unfortunately it does not. If you are unsure about the integrity of the hitch it would be a good idea to replace it with a new # 75599. If the rust is only on the surface you are fine, but if the rust is eating through the metal you definitely have a problem.

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2006 Acura MDX
For your 2006 Acura MDX I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 75599. I attached installation instructions as well as an installation video for you to check out below for this product. You will not need to remove your spare to install this hitch and it can remain installed on your MDX while you have the hitch installed. For a 4 bike rack I recommend you get a Thule Camber 4 Bike Carrier, part # TH9056. If you plan on hauling womens or alternative framed bikes you would...

  • Best 2 Inch Trailer Hitch for a 2004 Honda Pilot with Full Size Spare Tire
All of the Class III hitches that we have available for the 2004 Honda Pilot install in much the same way and have the same towing capacity. None of the hitches require permanent removal of the spare tire, full size or space saver. This leaves the look of the hitch and cost as the only real difference between the available options. The Draw-Tite model you selected, # 75599, is a good choice. Some Items you may want to consider if towing with your Pilot are a transmission cooler and power...

  • What Does Trailer Hitch's Weight Distribution Towing Capacity Mean
Weight distribution systems are hard to describe, but basically it's a hitch accessory that uses spring bar tension to help distribute the tongue weight of a trailer up to the front axle of a vehicle. This typically allows the tow vehicle more capacity than without and that's why the capacities are listed higher. For more info on weight distribution systems check out the help article I attached. The Draw Tite hitch part # 75599 which is a fit for your 2006 Acura MDX has a towing capacity...

  • Trailer Wiring and Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Honda Pilot
For your 2006 Honda Pilot our most popular and best hitch is the Draw Tite hitch part # 75599 which is a confirmed fit and would work well. I attached an install video for this as well. • What is Difference Between Curt and Draw Tite Trailer Hitch for 2005 Honda Pilot
Curt and Draw Tite are two different companies who make aftermarket hitches for vehicles like your 2005 Honda Pilot. Typically their hitches are somewhat similar but will have a few differences. For your vehicle the Curt part # 13328 installs a bit differently and costs a little bit less than the Draw Tite # 75599. It's also made in the USA too. The Curt states that some fascia trimming may be required to install the hitch wherease the Draw Tite does not have have that listed. For most...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite and Curt Trailer Hitches for a 2003 Acura MDX
The Curt and Draw-Tite trailer hitches for the 2003 Acura MDX will each perform well for you. I can tell you that the Draw-Tite hitches do undergo a certain amount of extra voluntary testing that other brands do not do with their hitches. The extra 2 bolts and center mounting point on the Curt hitch do not give it additional capacity. The Curt hitch # 13328 and the Draw-Tite hitch, # 75599, are each rated at 350 pounds tongue weight and 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight. Both can be...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2004 Acura MDX for Carrying Bike Rack
For your 2004 Acura MDX we have trailer hitch options but the Curt you mentioned is not a fit so I cannot recommend it for you. Instead you would want the Draw Tite hitch part # 75599 which is a 2 inch hitch. There are no 1-1/4 inch hitches available for your vehicle at this time. For a sleeve adapter that will adapt a 2 inch hitch to be a 1-1/4 inch hitch we have the # HT02.
