Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

etrailer.com Technical Support

2011 Nissan Altima

1 year after purchase, I am mostly happy with this receiver. It was a pain to install, mainly due to the design of my 2011 Altima, but I knew that going in thanks to the instructions and videos on etrailer. My only hesitation to give it 5 stars is the surface rust inside the receiver tube. I'm not sure how, but it seems like they could figure out a way to make that look better for longer. However, the hitch has worked perfectly in the light towing (~600lb) I do.

Unfortunately, due to the metal on metal contact that the finish on the interior of the receiver tube experiences, theres really not much that could be done to prevent the finish from being abraded. A thin coat of grease on the shank of the ballmount or hitch mounted accessory will be the best bet to provide some protection.

I bought the DrawTite for my son's Altima. I already had a Yakima bike rack for it. The install is not easy and I had a friend put it in as it does require the exhaust system to come off and drilling in the trunk. But once in it seems to be great. The Yakima fits in perfectly and the trunk even opens with it in the upright position, a real plus when traveling. Looking forward to many happy miles with it.

2013 Nissan Altima

Service from etrailer and product quality are both great! Installed easily, a perfect fit on the car, very happy. My only issue is the damage that happened in shipping. The hitch had no padding or packing materials in the box to secure the hitch inside the box. As a result it slid freely inside the box punching holes through the cardboard and chipping paint off. These impacts also loosened the parts inside scratching up the bar as seen in my pictures near where I installed the trailer light plug. A little bubble wrap, wadded paper, or foam could have prevented the damage completely. The cardboard box was not dented, other then the holes punched from the inside out by the hitch parts as they slid and slammed into the sides of the box.

2012 Nissan Altima

The hitch fit my 2012 Altima perfectly and was a breeze to install on my own. It works great with my bikerack.

The only issue I had was removing my muflers at the clamps which were rusted tight. I ended up taking the car to a shop to heat and remove them for me. I wasn’t able to heat them enough outside when it was windy and below freezing.

The hitch is working perfectly I’ve been up and down the road on long trips countless times and this hitch from etrailer is a champion on the road with no issues whatsoever great product will recommend to anyone thanks again etrailer for having this product and a five star

I am very happy with the products I ordered and installed on my vehicle. I installed the hitch with help from the online video. It took about 2 hours, I didnt have the use of a lift. The bike rack that I ordered worked perfectly with the hitch. I was also impressed with the customer service that etrailer.com provided when I was trying to make a decision on which product to purchase.

by:

This hitch works well for what it is; however, if I’m being picky, there are definitely some frustrating things about it.

I purchased this to use with a hitch mounted bike rack on a Nissan Altima. The hitch is actually so low profile that it is sticks too far up under the car. This make it to where my bike hitch can’t fold up while on the car; otherwise, it runs into the bumper on the back of the car.

I also find that the hitch hangs a little too low. The hitch scrapes all over the place. I’ve gotten used to it, so now I just know to take almost every incline at a diagonal. However, with the bike rack on the hitch, it will scrape on just about anything that isn’t flat ground.

The hitch works and is sturdy and hasn’t caused any issues, but I think it could have been designed a little better for practical uses.

A++ product at great price and fast shipping, it's a one stop shop all you need in one box and with the video makes it easy to install on my 2015 nissan altima with the bolts thru the trunk and didn't even to remove the mufflers by sliding the hitch in one side and pushing up the other end while pulling the one muffler to one side I was able to install quicker and the plug and play wires makes it easy than trying to decode wires. Thank-you.

by:
2017 Nissan Altima

Easy install. Took about an hour if you are mechanically inclined. A small floor jack is your best bet for the install. It will hold the rack in place while you mark the holes and install.

by:

This thing was a breeze to install. Me and my brother in law did the install in 30 minutes. It is now installed on my dad’s 2007 Altima and he is so excited to tow his boat with it (when it stops raining). Great product, easy installation and fast shipping. Thank you!

I installed this on my 2015 Nissan Altima. I plan on pulling my jetski with it. So far everything looks great. The hitch is great quality.

by:

Excellent purchase. Fit exactly right and has been doing great

by:

I ordered the correct product and it doesn’t fit, Its costing me extra labor at the shop and they’re attaching it in a less secure place and having to drill it into the car. Circumstantially I do not have time to return this product but I am extremely dissatisfied.

by:

Great product no major issues. Only minor issue is that it's a very tight fit for my 1 1/4in bike rack. Makes taking on and off a hassle so I leave it on all riding season and only take off during winter months.

by:

Easy to install. Works great. Instructions were very good.

This is the third trailer hitch I have purchased from Etrailer.com. Each one has arrived in a very timely manner with no missing parts and nothing damaged. Prior to my purchases I have viewed the installation videos which were very helpful. The written installation instructions that accompanied each trailer hitch were complete and easy to understand. The wiring harnesses were a perfect match to each vehicle.

2010 NissanMaxima

After a year on my 2010 Nissan Maxima, my hitch is still one of the best modifications. It has allowed me to safely trailer my Sportbike on several occasions. The hitch has also let me use my car to transport a small trailer and pick up a living room table and chairs that I found online.
Definitely glad I got it.

Good design for 20011 Maxima. Requires removing rear tailpipe to access screw mounting area. Does not utilize any existing body holes so requires some ingenuity for good placement.

by:

the hitch itself was easy to install. the wiring not so much. needed a better video on how to install the wiring. also it wasn't long enough and we had to purchase more from a local auto parts store.

however, all in all i would definitely recommend the hitch!

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2024 Nissan Altima
Yes, I can! To add a hitch to your 2024 Nissan Altima, I recommend the Draw-Tite item # 24796. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Nissan with included hardware. It is a class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It has a 2,000 lbs towing capacity and a 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this hitch set up. If you are planning on towing you will also need a wiring harness item # C56339 and the Draw-Tite Drawbar item # 3593...

  • Compatibility of Curt Euro-Style Ball Mount w/ Draw-Tite Class I 24796 on 2010 Nissan Maxima
When we installed the Draw-Tite # 24796 on a 2009 Nissan Maxima, we found that the hitch height and the setback was the exact same as the Curt # C11352 you referenced. This being said, the Euro-style ball mount won't work with the Draw-Tite hitch. A Class I hitch has the hitch pin hole recessed further back in the receiver than a Class II hitch would be. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch punch or weld a stop into the receiver so a Class II rated accessory can't be slid into the receiver far...

According to Draw Tite the hitch part # 24796 should only take a professional about an hour to complete. For more info check out the install video and instructions I attached. Both this hitch and the Curt hitch part # C11352 have the same weight capacities so I can assure that either would be just as strong as the other when installed on your vehicle. The installation of the this hitch is rated a 9 out of 10 difficulty with an average install time at around 1-1/2 hours.
