This Stealth Hitches trailer hitch includes everything you need to hook up your trailer for towing. The ball mount pops into the hitch's center block so you can attach your trailer's coupler to the hitch ball. The wiring harness lets you power your trailer's lights. And the safety chain loops let you attach your trailer's safety chains. A receiver attachment is included as well for those times you need to use a bike rack or cargo carrier instead of towing your trailer. This all-in-1 solution saves you the headache of scrambling for missing parts, so you can get on the road faster than ever.
Nothing can ruin the clean, stylish look of your vehicle like a giant piece of metal bolted beneath the bumper. Luckily, with the Stealth Hitches trailer hitch receiver, you never have to worry about messing up your vehicle's lines.
This hitch installs behind your bumper, keeping the cross tube concealed and leaving only the ball mount visible. Even better, the ball mount can be easily removed from the cross tube when it's not in use, so you won't see any trace of the hitch. This means that you can retain that clean, from-the-factory look for your ride, while still being able to tow your trailer on the next family road trip.
This hitch also comes with a removable 2" square receiver, which can be used to mount any variety of hitch accessories, like your bike rack or cargo carrier.
Both the ball mount attachment and receiver attachment can be installed and removed in seconds with no tools required. Simply pop the selected attachment's base up into the stainless steel block at the center of the hitch until it automatically latches in place.
Be sure to then press the lock on the side of the block to fully secure the attachment. When you're finished hauling, use the included key to unlock the latch. Then turn the handle on the block clockwise and remove the attachment. You can stow the attachments in a safe place like your vehicle's rear cargo area, or you can use a convenient carrying case (391CASEC - sold separately).
And when you're not using an attachment, the included hitch plug covers the center block's opening to protect the hitch's body from dirt and debris.
Your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the passenger's side, plugs into the included wiring control module. Once you've made all of the necessary connections, insert the provided fuse into your vehicle's fuse panel.
Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will mount beneath your hitch. A mounting bracket is included to attach the connector to your hitch.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-way connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
Note: The harness included with this hitch must be programmed at a dealer before the trailer lights will work.

Oh I love this stealth hitch! It is so solid and versatile for towing the sailboat or hauling the bikes. It is very practical for many uses! If you are at all handy it is a simple and comprehensive installation. All the instructions you will need are provided. I rate this item at excellent!
I had reservations spending this much, but after getting it I have no regrets. The build quality is excellent and the instructions very specific. At first volvo told me they would not program it but then I realized they were confused and thought it was "aftermarket". The hitch is aftermarket, but the kit supplies a genuine Volvo control module for the wiring harness. Once I explained that the dealership was happy to program it for me. Installation was a breeze, probably a little less involved than doing a brake job and installing a new radio head unit in an older car. No cutting or soldering of wires, everything is plug and play. A small amount of cutting on the underside of the bumper for clearance but it's easy. There was one small difference on my model ( 2022 v90 cc), the bumper blocked the hole for the 4th bolt to hole the hitch to the car frame, but you can easily make it work either by cutting a small corner off the bracket or bending it slightly. Overall I'm very satisfied! There is far less "play" in the ball hitch than on ones that mount on normal square hitch receivers, the mechanism is very beefy and has right tolerances.
So far, this has been awesome. I have tried the hitch only around the block, but it's everything they advertise. It's there when you need it, it's not when you don't. Works like a charm!
While it works ok, it's such an pain to remove attachments (trailer to 2in receiver) -- I have to sprawl on the ground and fiddle with the lock, that I never remove them until I have to switch. Also they have some play in them, which I guess is by design. Given the option I would much prefer a fixed welded 2 in receiver. Turns out the cost of having the hitch "hidden" is not worth it

Wiring needs to be programmed by Volvo. I hope this is not a problem.

Volvo did the programming without any problems. Expensive yes, but thats Volvo.

I pulled up to a trailer rental place and the agent asked how in the heck are you going to hook up a trailer, you don’t have a hitch? So I pulled out my Stealth Hitches receiver, plugged it in and the agent goes “That’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! Having installed the Stealth Hitch myself I found it extremely easy to do and I was especially impressed by the design. When I took it to my Volvo dealer to have the OEM Volvo backup computer programmed to my car I showed the dealer and he was so impressed that he recommends it to his customers over the OEM hitch.
Installed this on our V90 Cross Country. So easy to do and better than the OEM hitch. Volvo's bumper was a little difficult to get back on, but just take your time.
This was my first install of a Stealth Hitch and Volvo V90 wirer harness kit so I watched the video and read the instructions a couple of times before starting the project to be familiar with the directions. When it came time, I followed the instructions to the letter and they were spot on and made the work much easier. I'm very happy with the product and the customer service at etrailer.com.
The quality of the packaging, installation instructions, and hitch itself were top notch. Installation was easy, although it does require a visit to the dealer for programming when installed on a Volvo V90. I'd share a picture, but there's nothing to see! Highly recommend!

The stealth hitch is working out excellent for me. I frequently transport two electric bikes and tow a beach catamaran occasionally. Tongue weight on the beach cat is about 70 pounds. The bikes total about 120 lbs. this system works flawlessly. I especially like that I can have the utility advantage, without an unsightly towbar hanging under the bumper.
