I am not a tall person, and am 68 years old, but was able to use a bucket to raise the hitch high enough to get one side screw stared, then the other. After that, it was easy. Hardest part was putting 86 pounds of torque in a laydown position, but after a few grunts, and chosen words, my torque wrench clicked. The Hitch itself is low profile enough not to hit shins when putting in groceries, which the wife likes, as well as a very good finish.

Great trailer hitch. Super easy to install and great instructions. Did the whole install by myself though, if you have available help, it would be a lot easier to install. Fast shipping from etrailer. Definitely would do business with etrailer again when needed. I have not hooked up my boat to actually use the hitch but quality of hitch and install were great.
One side was bent about 1 1/2". Not sure if it was welded crooked or what?!? I made it work eventually but it definitely makes me wonder if all their products may be inferior. Was already half done and didn't want to undo everything and return it and wait a week. If I had bought local I would have returned it.
Sierra K - 07/13/2022Solid product that fit my Highlander perfectly. Took some muscle with the help of a floor jack to lift it into place, but within the expected range of effort. Use a torque wrench as the directions state. I tightened the bolts as much as I could with a regular ratchet, but then when I borrowed a long-handled torque wrench I was able to turn each bolt probably another 1/2 turn before the torque wrench clicked at the prescribed torque.

After owning this trailer hitch for one year, it still looks and operates the way it did from day one. It is extremely solid, and as far as I can tell, flawless. Highly recommended.
Reuben - 04/28/2022I received the hitch on time and no damage to the box and no scratches on the hitch. The directions were easy to follow and had the hitch installed in about 1.5 hours, I didn't have to jack up my vehicle (2016 Toyota Highlander), the hitch was light enough that I was able to lay it on my lap and start a bold on each side then work my way back installing the remaining 4 bolts. I torqued the bolts to specifications as stated in the directions then installed the wiring harness, that only took 15 min start to finish. I towed a 5' x 8' [rental] trailer with furniture on a 8 hour trip with no issues. Buying the hitch was cheaper that renting a truck to move my daughter into an apartment for her Junior year of college. Thanks again for a great product at a great price.

Juan D - 07/21/2021Perfect fit ! Easy install with help of a $10 metric socket set -if you don’t have one. No need to drop spare tire or jack up car. Definitely helps to have an extra set of hands to lift and hold the hitch mount under the car. I used a $20 zip saw to cut the Driver Side underbody panel after it was removed and Passenger exhaust deflector in place. Cutting-edge instruction diagram could be improved a bit. It appeared as an optical illusion to me.
JSCberry - 08/08/2021It was so very easy to install. Had my wife and daughter help he hold it up in place. Daughter used my floor jack to lift it up, my wife and I installed the 2 bolts on each side and I tighten them up with my impact. The wiring kit was a snap to install. I had everything done in less than 2 hours. So happy with the product and results. etrailer did another fantastic job with my order.
Installed on 2002 4Runner to replace rusted through OEM receiver. Raised ground clearance (departure angle) from OEM hitch. Expectation is to reuse some OEM hardware as the frame has welded in square nuts in those locations—it’s been a yr so I forget exactly how many, maybe 4 bolts. Either way, at 20 yrs old the square nuts didn’t hold up on removal. I ended up chiseling out the only one that stayed and replacing them with matching hardware. It takes some fishing to get the nuts in place and started, but I did it without too too much frustration lol.
First off I'll admit to ordering this same hitch from Amazon but they drug their feet and couldn't get it to me in a timely manner so I searched elsewhere. Thank goodness I found it here on etrailer.com. I ordered it for the same price (give or take a couple bucks) and had it in 2 days. I installed it over the weekend by myself and I will say a second pair of hands would come in handy. I propped it up on a bucket at the middle and one end while I got a bolt started in the other end. Worked great. The hitch arrived in flawless condition with no scratches or chips in the finish. Thank you etrailer!!
Outstanding Value! I installed in about 2 hours by myself and didn't lower the spare tire. The installation video was very helpful. But, there are a few items in the video that need updating/clarification. At 4:46, the bracket doesn't get re-installed. That's even mentioned at 7:39 in the video. As well, at 5:00 the muffler bracket doesn't need to be removed and you can see that it wasn't removed at 7:04 in the video. Nothing was mentioned about cutting the plastic muffler shield, which is seen cut at 7:02. I was able to just push it out of the way with the hitch. So, I didn't cut it off like the written instructions stated. And for trimming the driver's side panel at 7:55, I trimmed a lot less, see my photos. Lastly, be sure and adjust the hitch side to side before tightening the bolts to ensure it's centered. I highly recommend etrailer and am very happy with my purchase!
Super fast and easy install. Was completed in less than 45mins including modifications to the factory plastic splash shields.
Package looked like it was dragged behind the FedEx truck, but nothing was damaged. It appeared that when they packed the hitch that they accounted for this. All the parts were there and instructions straight forward. Will use etrailer again.
Great price, fast shipping, easy install, instructional videos on YouTube. Would recommend this company all day. I will be back to buy the electronic portion for the trailer hookup soon.

Every time I walk behind the Highlander I think dang, that’s a good looking hitch! Following your instruction videos made for a very easy installation. I chose that particular hitch because it didn’t stick out beyond the bumper. It’s perfectly centered and pulls trailers well!

Theron - 08/23/2022We had a 2009 Toyota Highlander, that had no hitch when, we bought it. I used e-trailer and had a successful installation. We had no issues with the hitch or the electrical. We just purchased a 2015 Toyota Highlander without a hitch. I again used e-trailer for parts and installation instructions. I am very pleased with their products and service. Believe me you want to be sure about the products and installation instructions, when your spouse walks into the garage and sees the car taken apart. If I can do it, so can you.

My car guy installed it and he inquired about where it was from because it was much more solid than many brands he had installed before for customers. He said easy installation (I think he charged me less than an hour). No rust & Easy to attach and detach a year later. I have recommended the hitch to friends. I have a Toyota Highlander and if I had added the hitch to my new car purchase, I think it was going to be $700+. This was a great deal for cost and quality.
A very solid hitch. Installation was fairly straight forward. Watching the online video for installation was very helpful. The only deviation from the video, was I removed the bracket holding the muffler, to make it easier to get to the 3 bolts on that side. Then reinstall the muffler bracket. (See photo).
This is my third hitch from etrailer, and as always, am very satisfied.
Great product as advertised. The video for installation was relatively simple to follow for our 2018 Highlander. Just make sure you don't have it upside down as the holes won't align ;). Thanks etrailer! We will be turning to you for our next automotive accessory needs!
