The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. If it weren’t for careless shipping (or maybe substandard packaging) I’d be much happier! There were four places where the Diana’ finish was scratched down to bare metal. This means, before I can even install it, I’m going to have to paint it so it doesn’t rust in those places. I’m stunned that there was so little packaging or protection besides the outer cardboard box and two, thin wrappings around the frame. The hitch may function great…after $7.50 in paint and an hour of my time.

Was very easy to install and my heavy duty bije rack fit perfectly!

Hitch was exactly what I ordered and only took just over a week to get it. Nice, heavy, powder coat hitch with all the necessary nuts and bolts. Definitely going to need a second set of hands installing this. Only minor complaint was the hitch had ripped through the side of the box in transfer and was sticking out a few inches, but that was more an issue with the manufacturer's packaging. Still didn't affect the hitch and was in perfect condition. Will definitely be using them for the next hitch for my other vehicle.

Just great. Still on and no loose bolts.

Shipping isn't the greatest. I understand that it is a 40ish pound metal, but packaging could be better. Returned the 1st one sent and got another one, but even then there was another hole in the package.

Customer service was quick to send me another one and I loved how quick it was.

Currently live in AZ so chipping in the paint doesn't matter since there isn't a big rust issue. But will be moving to WI soon and some places still use salt. Don't want rusting already.

Saw some minor paint chipped areas on the 2nd one sent. Not as bad as the first one sent.

Not sure why they used a 19mm for the new bolts. Was annoyed that the old ones was 18mm and then swapped to 19mm.

Easy installation. Forgot the name of the piece but think it was a elbow socket, so I didn't even need to waste my time taking off the exhaust.

Had some left over green spray paint so I used that to spray over the chipped areas instead of wasting $ on black paint.

Overall, not sure if I would go with etrailer again for my trailer needs. Loved how fast customer service worked to resolve my issue. Packaging needs to be better. It's a hitch receiver, a piece of metal... not much to say about it except I hope the ugly spray job prevents rust! I mean it will rust eventually, just don't want the life span of it to be less.

Excuse the dark picture but I installed the hitch by myself as soon as I got home when I saw that it had been delivered. Hitch receiver is very well made and high quality. Everything aligned perfectly and it looks awesome installed. The only thing visible is the receiver tube. Absolutely cannot beat this hitch for the price. Thank you etrailer!

Its been a year and everything that I said previously still stands. I use my hitch every weekend and it has held up to everything.

2018 Nissan Rogue

Package arrived on time and slightly damaged where the receiver rests against the cardboard. Other customers have reported this same damage. Other than a scratch or two the hitch itself was unharmed. A heavy piece of cardboard or plywood glued into the box where the receiver rests would probably solve this kind of container damage.

The hardest part of the installation in my 2018 Nissan Rogue was removing and replacing the splash guards at each corner. The factory trim pins all broke on removal requiring a trip to the hardware store for replacements. This is a Nissan issue, not eTrailers. Using a floor jack I was able to lift the hitch into place without removing anything on the exhaust system. The driver side splash guard had to have a 3" x 6" (approx.) slot cut in order to clear the hitch. No big deal. This might be unique to 2018 Rogue SV models, as various videos show at least 4 different shapes of splash shields on various Rogue models. All in all, an easy install.

by:

The product arrived on time and fit my car perfectly. The installation video was also very helpful. I have also attached a bike rack to it without any issues. I will say I had one slight problem that I read in some of the other reviews. I had to trim the plastic underbody cover on the drivers side near the exhaust. It is the only way it will fit with the hitch attached.

by:

Installed on 2018 Rogue. Easy install. Works well for my intended purposes. I use it for storage and transportation racks. It is a little off center, but I don't use it for towing.

by:
2012 Nissan Rogue

I was able to install this myself, the bolt holes matched up perfectly. The only difficulty was cleaning out and rethreading the bolt holes because they had 10 years of rust and dirt in them, but that is not eTrailer's fault!

by:
2018 Nissan Rogue

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2018 Nissan Rogue fit perfectly. The video was very helpful. As an intermediate DIYer without all of the necessary tools, I found it beneficial to use a large universal lug wrench to remove the vertical bolts, and a short section of steel tubing on the end of a socket wrench to remove the horizontal bolts. I used tin snips to cut-out a section of the left plastic panel. Once you understand how the plastic snap fasteners work, it is relatively easy to remove and reinstall the plastic panels. Also the third threaded hole on the left side of the frame was tight, so the lug wrench was helpful in getting the bolt properly tightened. It took me about 5-6 hours from start to finish. A second try would probably take me only 1-2 hours. I would have considered taking it to my mechanic if there was less clearance under the SUV.

2015 Ford Transit Connect

Delivery of hitch was amazingly quick..much sooner than I could have imagined. But the container box was demolished during shipping. Thankfully somebody in shipping had the brilliant idea of using strapping tape to hold accessory parts onto the metal hitch or they would have fell out of the holes in box and lost in transit.
It may be after Xmas before installation happens & I intend to report any difficulties involved but the hitch appears to be high quality & well built out of hefty metal..I was very impressed in how sturdy & strong it appears. (This is NOT a flimsy imitation piece of junk). Thanks for a super web site and pleasant purchase experience.

Install was fast & easy, even though I had nobody helping. Had to trim underbody splash panel which took as much time as hitch. Was impressed w how nice & snug it looked installed not obvious seeing it unless looking for it. My daughter has same model Rogue so it was an easy decision to purchase a second one for hers.

2019 Nissan Rogue

This is a well made, high quality product !
The only issue I have is with the packaging. The box had a large hole torn in it and the product was scratched in several locations. The product is very heavy and has sharp edges thus should be packaged in a way that prevents it from just banging around inside a large card-board box. It is a shame that such a high quality product is allowed to be shipped with such disregard to the physics of transporting it from one location to another. You are only as good as your weakest link.

by:
2016 Nissan Rogue

The parts look great and fits the car perfectly. Had a test drive with a 2 bicycle rack mounted and it was perfect. The package was damaged in some areas upon delivery and some color damage was showing at 2 spots (minor). The installation video was very helpful and made the installation an easy job

Installed it in 45 minutes didn’t even have to drop the exhaust

It's great. I put it on my wife's car so we can put a bike rack on her car for the Ebikes.

Very happy!

The etrailer hitch is a great looking, sturdy hitch that is simple to install. I backed up our Rogue onto oil change ramps to give myself a little more room to work, but even that is not entirely necessary. The only problem was a defective factory weld nut on the passenger side (not the hitch's fault) that made it a bear to remove one of the bolts for the factory tow plate and install the new bolt for the hitch. But with some effort and a long enough ratchet, we can now carry our bikes.

A couple installation tips:
- You'll need a 5" or longer socket extension to reach the bolts, especially on the passenger side.
- You don't have to lower the exhaust.
- Despite what the instructions say, you CAN replace the appearance panels. (Not required, but I hate having extra parts when I'm done.) The passenger-side panel is easy to reinstall.
- The driver's side appearance panel needs to have a rectangle cut out of it to fit around the hitch, 3 3/8" wide starting 3" up from the bottom of the flat part, with a small triangular notch in the corner. (See photo.) You can cut the plastic with a sturdy pair of kitchen shears. You'll need to work it a little bit to get around the exhaust pipe, but then just clip it back into place.

Easy to follow installation video. Good quality product. Unfortunately I was the victim of a rear end accident shortly after installing the hitch receiver and never used it.
