Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Price and quality were great. 1 year of near constant use with a bike rack. No issues.

Great hitch receiver, fairly simple install. Definitely need two people. I watched the install video before starting and that was really helpful

by:
2018 Ford Escape

This is a very high-quality product. I’m very glad I bought it. I had it installed this morning and everything went smoothly.
My new bike rack fit perfectly with it. I would highly recommend using this company as they were very communicative with me during my selection of the product and shipping etc. they truly have wonderful customer service.

by:
2017 Ford Escape

Haven’t installed yet but looks straight forward. My only complaint so far is I had to touch up spots on the hitch with paint as it poked through the box in 3 places. Not your fault it happened in shipping I’m sure. But I would suggest putting extra cardboard in the places that have potential to poke through the box.

by:

Have not yet installed it. Box was badly torn open. I'm hoping everything is still in the box.

by:

Awesome looks great! Fast delivery!! Great communication!!@@

Absolutely perfect never had any problems awesome purchase

by:

Great product, install was a challenge for me being alone because of the weight and laying under the car. Instructions were great and the quantity of the hitch and fasteners was excellent. e
trailer has been my go to for hitches, I've three and if I need another one I'll buy it here.

by:

Very happy with my order. It took a bit of know-how to install, but the instructions were plenty clear. Works great.

by:

It was the wrong hitch kit. Didn’t fit my vehicle. I didn’t make an effort to have it replaced.

by:

Great product, way cheaper price than the garages will charge you for same product, will always buy from etrailer

by:

This hitch is great. It's constructed well and appears to made of heavy duty steel. Also it was easy enough with the kit supplied for my wife and I to install it on our vehicle. And did I mention it was priced reasonable.

by:

I purchased the Class III hitch and harness for my 2017 Ford Escape. First thing I noticed was the quality of the product. I love supporting American businesses that take pride in their product. I watched the online installation videos that were very helpful. I installed the hitch and harness without issue. You will need an extra set of hands though, installation is a bit awkward for one person.

by:

Everything fits nice thanks for the assistance Kim, this is why I keep coming back to etrailer .

Well made. Heavy duty. Looked up the installation video and it was clear and easy to follow. Haven't installed yet. Planning to soon.

by:
2013 Ford Escape

This product meet my expectations. Everything was packaged well with no damage during shipping. Watching the YouTube video in advance really made it easy to install. My brother and I had it under my 2013 escape se in under an hour. It fit perfectly with no issues with install. I highly recommend this hitch for all escape owners. I will definitely be shopping with etrailer in the future. Thanks for selling great products.

by:

So far, I like it! It's heavier than what we thought and I haven't put it on my car yet but hubby has and he's really liking how easy it was to get on my car! It is so much easier for me to get bike on it and lockdown!! I look forward to being able to get the bike on by myself and go riding!
The only drawback is I drive a Ford Escape, when the bikes are on, you can't let the back hatch open. The Escape's hatch goes lower so even with the tilt, the hatch hits the bike. It's not a deal breaker, my hubby is a very smart man so he'll figure out something to use that can protect the car hatch and bike for the occasional 'Ooops" !

by:
2016 Ford Escape

Installation was a breeze. The supplied hardware worked great and it looks great. It's going to hold the bike rack without any problems.

by:

Thanks etrailer...I got my order on time & all in great conditions, including shipping/packaging. I was surprised & impressed with your video instructions because I was able to installed myself. Once again thank you for your great services.
best regards

You guys have a quality product! Instructions are easy to understand and my daughter and I installed it in a couple of hours. I made a couple of mistakes which made it longer. If I need anything else I will definitely use your company. Thank you.

by:

I did by myself which wasn't easy. I recommend 2 people.

by:

Excellent product, promptly shipped. Clear and concise installation instructions. Still working well after a year of service.

by:

Very solid and well constructed. Was actually worried before I did the install, your difficulty rating was a 9 out of 10 for this item but the installation went smooth with help of the installation videos that y'all included in the descriptions on this site.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring for Towing Trailer With 2017 Ford Escape Titanium
There won't be an issue installing a hitch and wiring on your 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. As long as the trailer does not exceed the capacity of the hitch or your vehicle you will be fine. For a hitch I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866. This hitch features a matte black powder coat finish which provides more of an OEM look. It has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight of 350 lbs. For the most reliable wiring harness, I recommend the T-One...

  • Trailer Hitch For A 2014 Ford Escape That Will Allow The Use Of Hands Free Liftgate Sensor
The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 will limit the hands-free liftgate sensor to either side of the vehicle near the exhaust pipes. The trailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required. It has a matte black powder coat finish which is over a protective base coat that offers a superior rust resistance. The etrailer hitch has an extra coating of rust resistant paint which will give it better rust protection then the other hitches confirmed to fit your vehicle....

  • Will the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Fit a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium
Yes, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98866 is a fit for a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. It offers a bolt-on fit without any drilling and provides a 2" opening which is great for towing or hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. It also has a hidden design so all that you'll see is the receiver which makes for the best overall appearance.

  • Least Visible Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Ford Escape
The 3 trailer hitches with the most hidden receivers for your 2019 Ford Escape are the Curt # C13186, the Draw-Tite # 75782, and the etrailer.com # e98866. Since they all have the same profile it really boils down to what style suits you best. If you plan on towing then I recommend the Draw-Tite because it has an integrated wiring mounting bracket that really gives you a clean looking installation. If you only plan on using the trailer hitch for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier...

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75758 does install with the hitch and it's brackets directly below the muffler on your 2018 Ford Escape, so the hitch would need to be removed in order to replace the muffler on this vehicle. We do have options for hitches that would not require the muffler to be removed, as they install with the brackets above the muffler; what you can use are either of the following: - etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 - Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver...

  • Hitch e98886 Not Wide Enough For 2014 Ford Escape
Thank you for your purchase of the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866 for your 2014 Ford Escape. The issue you are seeing with the hitch not appearing wide enough is called "flexing" and can be an unfortunate byproduct of the what happens during the shipping process. What happens is the mounting brackets get bent inward a bit during shipping, and while it doesn't affect the integrity of the hitch, it can make it seem like the hitch doesn't fit. So you will need to bend the brackets...

It is not a requirement to have your 2018 Ford Escape elevated in order to install the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98866.
