Rugged, Matte Black Finish

The sturdy steel construction is protected with a matte black finish for added durability. This unique powder coating gives etrailer hitches a carbide-like appearance and a rugged look that sets them apart from traditional glossy hitches. In addition to being rust and corrosion resistant, the tough matte coating hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than a glossy finish.

Pretty straight forward installing. Bolts right in. Will need a hand to hold it in place to install. A little heavier than the one that was under the tuck for bumper ball. Looks great and fits great !! Also got the OEM style wiring kit. That as well fits as it should and fairly easy to install.

Great Trailer Hitch Receiver. Simple and easy to install the unit. Followed instructions and video for hassle free install.

by:

I installed this hitch on my new colorado pick up. It fit perfectly and was easy to install.
Looks great and of course hauls my trailer well.

by:

Had local mechanic put it on for me and it took about 15 minutes. Solid and works well with my bike rack. Thanks!

by:

Excellent quality and fairly easy to install. Instructions would do well to mention that if you don’t have a lift rack you’ll need two extra people to install.

Product was destroyed when the vehicle caught fire and exploded. Up until that time it worked well.

by:

I installed this in my driveway lying on back with help. We went by the installation process in the online video.

It took teamwork to break the factory bolts loose. We got tow bar in place by trial and error. The hard part is getting the bumper mount lined up with the bar and the frame in order to get the bolts in finger tight.

The specs for the bolts had torque rated at 160 ft-lbs. I couldn't reach that but got it close. Installation was complete and I cut the tape off of the receiver. Inside were instructions giving torque as 100 ft-lbs. I wouldn't do less than 120.

by:
2022 Chevrolet Colorado

The welds on the top side of the brackets were not ground down enough and caused the side holes to be too low for the holes in the truck frame. I had to file down the hole to make room to get the bolts in.

by:

Delivery was fast (and correct)! The installation was really easy and the hitch is very solid. Great product!
I use my vehicle to pull a 2 place snowmobile trailer and there haven't been any issues/problems.

by:

Excellent quality and value. Shipping was next day, thanks Michelle V. Perfect fitment. Hardest part of the installation was removal of large bolts. Cheater bar needed.

Product fit perfect, only one problem was a Chevy factory cross threaded bolt on bumper bracket. Otherwise smooth sailing. I have always received my orders from etrailer very fast and correct. Only place I will shop for hitch accessories. Love the installation videos on there sight..

by:

It was easy to install after watching your you tube video. I use it for my bike rack but I got a class3 incase I do decide to tow something.

by:

Went on fairly easy
. hauled 2 big
loads of scrape metal, without a ...hitch. seriously i love it, looks great on my truck too.

by:

One man install. Not easy but it is possible. Fits without any problems. Easier to remove rear bumper which is simple. You need a very stout breaker bar or a high torque impact to remove the bolts if you are replacing the factory unit.
This hitch is very well made and much heavier gauge steel as compared to factory unit. I love the mat finish.

by:

My hitch performs as-advertised. Generally pleased, however there was slight damage in shipping where the assembly fits to the frame of my truck, but nothing that a channel-lock plier and a floor-jack couldn’t fix. Looks good.

Still pleased with my purchase. Bought a hitch from eTrailer for my GF’s car. Equally satisfied.

Chevrolet Colorado

AS far as the product, first impressions are great! Bought this as a gift for my dad and his '19 Chevy Colorado. I purchase this and the wiring harness. Awaiting until Christmas for an install. My only complaint was the shipping. My wife and I have had too many issues with UPS in the pass and the delivery of these items were no different. Although the items showed up early, I can't get over UPS lying stating a delivery attempt was made. I have Ring video of the time they are stating that says otherwise. Then once the items finally arrived the next day, the box containing the harness was fine but the hitch looks as if it had been dragged around and dropped. You can see from the pictures that the wrapping isn't sufficient to protect it from drops. So, as I said, I would look into shipping with someone else.

by:
2016 Chevrolet Colorado

The hitch lined up perfectly with the frame. I did have to open the hanging brackets with a 2 pound hammer in order for them to slide onto the frame. I suppose they bent a little during shipping. The videos were excellent source material.

by:

The trailer hitch receiver didn't fit my truck the way it was intended, even though the description stated it would fit, the width of the frame was bigger than the receiver. When reaching out to etrailer their solution was attempt to bend the thick square tubing to accommodate the frame. Its suppose to be a bolt on product. Not a viable solution, considering the distance to cover was over a half inch. Not happy, wouldn't recommend.

I have looked into this for you and it does show me that this hitch is a confirmed fit for your vehicle. If you are having troubles with the holes not lining up, it could be that the hitch has been flexed during shipment. This is common amongst hitches, since the mounting brackets are made from a mild steel that allows the hitch to flex with the vehicle after installation. If the entire hitch was made of rigid steel, there would be a greater chance of the hitch being damaged and experiencing stress cracks. Such cracks could cause the hitch to malfunction. This flexing often times will cause the holes not to align. Because of this we do have a help article I have the link attached below that will walk you through the process of straightening the hitch.

by:

The hitch didn't have a bracket to bolt the support from the spare tire carrier cross member to the hitch. Other than that it bolted to the frame perfectly and fits fine

by:

Easy to install specially after watching the installation videos for the hitch and wire harness. Looks amd works great!

by:

the hitch did not fit as advertised , modifications had to be made and took extra time . Otherwise the hitch is ok

It is possible that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which could have caused it to be difficult to install. We have a few FAQs that can help with the installation.

Perfect. Just as it was when I installed. No issues what so ever.

by:
2017 Chevrolet Colorado

The part came wrapped in plastic with no box but was in good condition.

The hardest part of the installation was removing the factory hitch components.

I used Jack stands to hold the rear bumper in place, removed the screws from the old hitch and wiggled the old part out.

Lying on my back under the back of the truck the new part was light enough I could lift the new part in place and start a bolt to hold in place.

I broke a 1/2" breaker bar removing the old bolts manually so if you have impact tools it'll save lots of sweat.

Fits well and looks good and rugged.

Michael

  • Recommended Hitch Receiver For A 2022 Chevrolet Colorado
My trailer hitch recommendation comes down to aesthetics. They have the same tongue weight and the same maximum gross trailer weight, 800 lbs and 8,000 lbs respectively. The difference is the finish. I prefer the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2", part # e98909, because in my experience it is harder to see scratches and blemishes on the matte finish when compared to a glossy finish. I have included a product description link and a video...

  • What Hitch Do You Recommend for My 2021 Chevy Colorado?
For a great hitch for your 2021 Chevy Colorado, I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit # e98909. The etrailer hitch includes a 800 pound maximum tongue weight and a 8,000 pound maximum gross towing capacity. As far as installation, the hitch uses factory drilled holes in your frame and uses your existing hardware. With this hitch, it is a great economic option that will not sacrifice the quality that you want in a hitch. I went ahead and included an installation video...

The trailer hitch receiver that will fit your 2021 Chevy Colorado WT - and in fact will fit all models of 2021 Chevy Colorado - is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98909. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and is a bolt-on installation so no drilling is required into your truck's frame. It also has a really nice matte black finish which is going to do a much better job of hiding the inevitable nicks and scratches than other hitches with a glossier coat. I have added a photo...

In terms of appearance, install procedure and weight capacity the Curt # C13176 and etrailer brand # e98909 are identical. Both hitches are proudly manufactured in the USA. The only difference between the two is the powder coat finish. The Curt hitch uses a glossy finish, while the etrailer brand hitch uses a matte powder coat.
