Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A year later an my boat trailer is rolling strong with no issues. Lots of miles and no worries.

by:

The boat trailer is rolling very smooth now! Big difference.
Thank you!

by:

It worked great...on a difficulty scale of 1-10, with 10 being the hardest, this was a 2.

by:

Second time purchasing. Great and love the carrying case to keep spare in truck. Hauling single axle salt water boat trailer long distances so always keep a spare.

by:

No issues so far, great value.

by:

Great customer service. Nicole got me everything I needed.very pleased definitely recommend and will be using again for my next project on the trailer. Leaf springs.

by:

Thick metal and heavy galvanizing. Casting of the hub steel came out wrong on one of them, the spindle would be rotating on an angle and wearing out the bearings. Noticed right away that the races weren’t centered. etrailer sent a replacement right away!

by:

As always it's been a pleasure ordering from ETrailer! Everything arrived very quickly, in perfect shape/wrapped good, and was an exact fit.

I used it to replace my boat trailers 40 year old hubs. These hubs paired well with the stainless steel bearing buddys

by:

Customer Service was very helpful and everything went very well. Adam did a great job!

by:

I open the box which look in good shape pickup plastic box and open hub and lug nuts pin dust cap look went to check second hub box the top was busted and just fell off the hub was there but no package of lug nuts pin or dust cap do not know if hub is ok it looks like parts are there I called they said they would see about sending a new one

Sorry to hear about this. I see in your account that we have already shipped out a replacement.

by:

Great product. Easy to install and works great on my trailer.

by:

Love the quality and zirc fittings on rear of hub

by:

I am sure this is an OK product, but when a product says Made in USA, the customer should expect the product to be Made 100% in the USA. The CE Smith sticker on the box states Made In China. The bearings inside this hub state CHINA. I can find nothing but websites that state this is Made in the USA. The better statement could be assembled proudly in the USA using parts from China.

The hub is made in the USA, but other components, like the bearings, are sourced globally.

by:

Excellent product came pre-greased easy installation. Add bearing buddies and additional grease for extra caution.

by:

Perfect. Even better then the OEM part itself!

by:

Hubs fit perfectly, and the staff at etrailer were very helpful.

by:

The parts were shipped quickly and packaged well. There were no instructions included with the package and when I assembled all of the parts I did not realize that the inner and outer bearing races were already pressed into place in the hub that I bought. I attempted to install the bearings in the new wheel hub and when I went to put it on the trailer it would not fit. I kept thinking I was doing something wrong and ended up ruining two grease seals before I figured out that the bearing race was already pressed into place and was not needed. That is entirely my error ( I am not a mechanic…) but it would’ve been nice if it was indicated somehow that the bearing race is already installed in the hubs I bought from etrailer and that the ones that shipped with the hub package are extras for another application.

by:

Installed it last night. Went on easily. So good I want to order another one.

by:

Very good quality, value and design. I like the pregreased idea. One installation recomendation I have is to install and hold the large washer in place on the outside bearing as you slide the idler hub onto the axle. That will help keep the bearing in place and prevent grease from oozing out as you push the hub assembly on the axle.

by:

Well greased when it was received and performs well quick and easy installation. I added the bearing buddys on the front I don’t want any problems

by:

ordered hub kits for my boat trailer and products installed and worked as intended. Only problem was kits were not in stock and had to be ordered so that's reason for 4 stars but no worries I wasn't in a big rush. Good thing is etrailer kept me updated with emails and packages arrived when they said they would.

  • What is a #84 Spindle and How Do I Know I Have One On My Trailer?
The #84 spindle is just a common way to identify the spindle dimensions typically used for 3,500 lb axles. So instead of listing out the parts, people can just say they have #84 spindles and it's easier to know what fits it. The CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13515 uses the following parts: Inner bearing: L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) Outer bearing: L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) Grease Seal: 58846 (1.719" inner diameter and 2.565" outer diameter) As long as this matches what...

  • What Type of Grease is Recommended with CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13515
LMX red grease like the # L11390 is what the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # CE13515 typically comes with and is the best all-around grease for trailer hubs so it's what I recommend. This will also be compatible with non-red grease if you were to find that your hub didn't have that color.

  • Are There Bearing Buddy Bearing Protector Grease Caps Compatible with Harbor Freight Utility Trailer
Harbor Freight trailers are unique. They don't have any industry standard parts on them, so replacement parts are very difficult to find. We don't have any grease caps that will fit your 2-inch hub. It may be possible to replace your hubs with a different one that will fit your spindle measurements, but you'd need to use a digital caliper to check the spindle at the bearing locations and the grease seal.

I have a solution for you but you're going to need to weld on a pipe mount. There are no jacks available that will clamp onto your frame and give you that much of a lift. The clamps won't support that much extension. For that high of a lift you will want the Square Pipe Mount Swivel Jack w Footplate item # TJDP-7000-B. This jack has a 29-7/8" extensions. The drop leg gives you 13-1/2" of lift and the screw travel is 15-3/8". The weld on pipe is included. I have linked a review video below.
