Corrosion Resistance for Marine Use

This trailer hub assembly has a zinc coating that resists corrosion, making it ideal for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. All GAL-DEX hubs undergo a test in which they are sprayed with a 5-percent salt solution to determine corrosion resistance over time. These products are able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating indicates that a product is not only durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with saltwater.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The hub was of excellent quality and the shipping was a day earlier than expected.
Thank you etrailer

Ordered springs, hubs and a new grease gun with a flex hose. The springs and hubs were great with etrailers usual fast shipping. The grease gun works well except the fitting on the grease gun flex hose that attaches to the grease zirc fitting on the plastic bearing buddy type axle greaser was so tight I couldn't remove it from the zirc fitting. I finally had to pull and bend so hard it actually pulled the zirc fitting out of the bearing buddy thus ruining it. That was aggravating as now it has to be replaced. As I said, it was a plastic bearing buddy and probably not great quality but no other grease gun fitting has had that problem.

Kit comes with everything you need to replace your trailer axle hub but a new cotter pin and wheel bearing grease. Looks like good quality parts, shipped quickly, installed easily and haven't had any issues with performance.

by:

The hubs went together great, until it was time for the grease cap. The new ones deformed too easily. I ended up using other heavier cups. Otherwise I'm happy.

  • How to Select Replacement Trailer Hubs for Old Boat Trailer
The key to using alternate hubs on an existing axle's spindles is matching up the set of bearings in the two hubs. A new hub must use the same inner and outer bearing and grease seal as the old hub in order for it to fit properly on the spindles. If you can find a hub that uses the same bearings then you can take advantage of newer and more readily available parts. The photo I linked for you shows the typical appearance of bearing and seal part numbers. If you remove one of your hubs,...

There are two different options of idler hubs that we have available for a 2,000 pound axle. I would be happy to help! To determine the correct replacement idler hubs for your Karavan single jet ski trailer with a single axle you will need to determine the bearing combination your spindle uses.
