E-Z Lube-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

The dexter hub and drums came complete with all the required new installation components that made installation simple and easy. My brake magnets had grooved the inside on some of the original drums, and I noted a broken brake wire at the axle entry so I wound up replacing the brake assembly, wiring, and hub and drums on all four wheels to restore the RV to full brake efficiency and safe function. In the future I'll add visual inspection of the brake wiring to my list of annual and pretrip inspections.

I have purchased from eTrailer numerous times and have always received excellent service and customer support. I had a technical question about available Dexter hub/drum kits and got a reply very quickly despite it being submitted on a weekend.
I was able order what I needed and delivery was very prompt.

These are genuine Dexter components and exactly what I needed to get my tired axles back in perfect condition The drums are an exact match and are high quality, as are all the parts that come with this kit.

I don’t experience such good customer relations very often these days, so eTrailer really shines in my opinion.

by:

Excellent service from etrailer, they had my parts to me in 1 day from the time of placing the order. These hubs seem to be well made and fit nicely onto the Timbren 5200 lb axel assembly with the 12" self adjusting brake kit. I have not ran these on the road as of yet but will give another review at that time.

by:

I got these to replace my hosed up 4-9.44 hubs (8-155). One was a 3-9.44 hub (one hole was bad), the other three hubs had two different sized bolts in them. This was for a 1988 HMD 20 foot stock trailer with #5200 axles. The outer bearing for the 4-9.44 hub was an LM67048 so I opted to stick with that bearing to fit the spindle. Fit perfect. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

I bought the kit with bearings, All fit perfectly!! Installed the self adjusting Electric Brake Assemblies as well, All parts fit together perfectly. Thanks George.

by:

Personally I was completely thrilled with everything about my experience here & with products. I’ve been struggling to get the right brake drums/bearings/etc for this dang boat trailer from the mashed/blow up drum/pieces I had to work with and etrailer.com …. made it so easy, I got every single part I needed to redo both forward wheels/bearings/drums/etc on the trailer from this one kit/one order that was exactly what I needed.

by:

They fit like they are supposed to. In my opinion it is a lot easier doing this service as an assembly than buying individual parts. Faster and easier.

by:

We built a custom trailer for elk hunting. We took it up the jeep trails loaded down and it did amazing. 34” off-road tires.

by:

We are a Commercial boat dealership. All purchases with Etrailer are great! Fast and efficient and great customer service

by:

Fit perfectly except the kit included the wrong axle seals for my application. Had to source seals to install.

by:

Awesome product, heavy duty equipment! Will be testing brakes soon while pulling my camper soon.
Thanks.

by:

This was a great acquisition and worked perfectly. It took very little effort to make things as good as new!

by:

Price and timeliness very reasonable

by:

Quick delivery and exactly what I order ed

by:

Great product. Arrived quickly and everything was as it should be. Very satisfied with this purchase.

by:

Fit perfectly and easy to install

by:

Just like to say that those self-adjusting brakes that I bought a year ago working fine way better that my old breaks that I had to adjust myself you got yourself a satisfied customer etrailer

by:

The product itself I would give five stars!! but the shipping I will give one star I ordered it on 5/24. They said it was in stock and processed in Salt Lake City warehouse but it took nine days to get to California…. this is the first time that I’ve ordered through etrailer and not been happy with the service and shipping!!

by:

Product, service & technical information is great. Mike provided confirmation of all the correct parts for my trailer hub assembly. The price was so reasonable that I carry the assembly in the trailer and ready to mount so, no rebuilds on the side of the interstate. Thanks Mike!.

I actually bought these parts as spares which I carry in my 26ft loaded cartrailer. We had a bearing failure on I71 heading to Akron, OH on a Sundaynight last summer. I had all the parts to change the bearings and seal but,it wasnt much fun or safe on the side of a busy interstate. We were on ourway within an hour. Right after that I ordered the assembly which will cut our change out time to about 20 mins. Given the minimal cost, any trailerowner should carry a spare assembly.

by:

Not happy that it came with made in China bearings.

by:

Thank You for a follow-up !! The update was done on a home made trailer that had trailer house axels and wedge type rims! The difference was astounding !! With new tires and the wheels and rims made it into an entirely different trailer!!
Thanks Again for the follow up, I have to say that hasn’t happened to me before! One usually one has the “tail-light” Warranty if you catch what I’m saying!!! Thanks Again

by:

Parts were very reasonably priced and shipping was same day.

by:

Thanks Marti for your support!

by:

Have always used dexter products for my trailers and etrailer has always had what I needed in stock. Great company to order from never a problem with any parts I have ordered.

by:

It was delivered quick, fit perfectly. Tomorrow we are taking our trailer back to work.

  • Replacement Recommendation for Dexter Axle 8-201 Hub Assembly on Older Horse Trailer
We've got you covered! To replace your wheel bolts you need the Dexter Wheel Bolt # 7-262 which is a 1/2" diameter and 2-11/16" long. Since your hub and drum assembly looks to be pretty worn though I recommend just replacing the whole thing so you have completely new bearings and a seal as well. To replace the whole drum assembly you'll need part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. The bearings that come with this kit match your application (I checked with my contact at Dexter Axle) but you will want to...

  • Replacement for 4,400 lb Axle on 2018 Jayco White Hawk
What you have is an 86" long axle with a 4,400 lb capacity. Since 4,400 lb axles are no longer being produced, you will need an axle with a higher capacity for a replacement. I recommend the Trailer Axle Beam with Easy Grease Spindles # e45GR. This axle is 86-1/2" long so it will stick out an additional 1/4" on each side but that won't be a problem. The spring seat measurement is also different. This means you will need to cut off the spring seats and weld on # TRSS300 to match your current...

  • Meaning of MTI Number On Dexter Hub and Drum Assembly
The MTI number on your 8-201 hubs is simply a casting number. It does not indicate any information about the hubs or have anything to do with the actual part number. I'm not surprised to hear you have different outer bearings between the two since there are variations of the 8-201. However, both should have the same inner diameter of 1.25" so it won't make a difference for fitment. For example, the # 8-201-5UC3-EZ for 5,200 lb axles and # K08-201-9B for 6,000 lb axles are both 8-201 hubs...

  • Are 3,500 Timbren Axle-Less Suspension System w/ Lift Weight Capacities for One Side or Both
That's a good question, and the weight capacities for the Timbren Axle-Less Suspension Systems are for the set (both sides). Just think of it like a normal axle with a 2,000 lb rating being for the entire axle as opposed to just a single side. So because you mentioned your fish house frame was 2,500 lbs semi-loaded you would definitely need to go with a 3,500 lb system. This application can work, it just installs by bolting onto your frame, though you do need to ensure there is enough...

  • Timbren Axle-Less System, Hub Drums and Brake Assembly Recommendation for a Travel Trailer
All of the parts you referenced would work well together. The Timbren Axle-Less system part # ASR5200S04 that you referenced would have more than enough capacity as it has a 5,200 lb per axle capacity. I would recommend you reinforce the frame around where the axles will be for added strength. The brake hubs # 8-201-5UC3-EZ would fit the axles and the brake assemblies # 23-459 and # 23-458 would fit those hubs and the brake flanges of the Timbren.

That said there aren't any USA made trailer bearings so what comes with are Chinese made. For a set of USA made brake assemblies are self adjusting you'd want the part # 23-458-459 and you'd be set.

  • How to Determine Hub and Drum Assembly & Brakes With 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern for 10,000 lb Trailer
Thanks for that info, and based on that I can narrow down the options for you considerably, but you will need to do a bit of measuring in order to make sure you get the right hub and drum assembly. Based on having Dexter axles and a 10,000 lb GVWR trailer it is likely you have 5,200 lb axles but also possible you have 6,000 lb axles. This means you will need to know what bearings your current hub has. You will need to take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves;...

  • What is Difference Between Dexter Hubs # # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and # 8-201-5UC3-EZ
The only differences between the two hubs you mentioned # 8-201-9UC3-EZ and # 8-201-5UC3-EZ are that the 8-201-5UC3-EZ is not pre-greased and the other is and they have different bearing between the two. But the bearings both have the same inner diameter so it really doesn't matter much. So if I were you Robert I would go with the pre-greased part # 8-201-9UC3-EZ. The bearings that come with both are from China.
